QUOTE(joytest @ Mar 18 2013, 12:28 PM) hahaha, yeah seldom reply lately as there're far lots developers within the droid world...some suggestions for whoever using the Perseus Kernel: 1. You can get 100mv UV for all CPU and GPU and Memory (stable with >1 month used) 2. UV for CPU on 200MHz can safely UV down till 750mV (>100mV compare to other freq) 3. You can set your CPU hotplug for the 3rd and 4th core to be turn on when @1100MHz, this will direct force you CPU just use max 2 cores whenever you switch to Power Saving Mode (good in critical power saving needed) 4. You can further power saving by install the Android Tuner (get it from Play) and set the Active Tweak on the Screen Off behaviour the max freq when screen off to 1GHz and with this mean whenever u switch off the screen the CPU will work max 1GHz and with only 2 cores active (you need to set the #3 above on hotplug) 5. If you no need immediate social/mail update then you can use the Deep Sleep Battery Saver (get it from Play) and set to use 30mins on for 1mins (Gentle Profile), this will help A LOT on the 3G/Wifi data power comsumption. With all the above you can easily out last your battery for max without having major impact on performance. If all above apply you should seeing your batt will drop ~1% per hour on wifi in standby and ~2% per hour on 3g data... what I say here is MINIMUM and from what my usage my batt drop ~1% in every 2 hours on wifi and from 9AM till 6PM (9 hours working with normal minimum usage) my batt fall from 100% to 94%... Tested the GPS navigation with 3g and BT on (screen brightness about 50% with auto on) I get ~5%~6% drop in 30mins using the Papago and calculated easily can get >8 hours active navigation time... Hope these information usefull for some battery geeks out there... |

1. I bought the replacement part from ebay and now shipping on the way. however, my unit is about 3 mths plus old and I am considering just waiting until year end to do my DIY. It's just a small ding and scratch but since it's quite new, i felt gatal to change and let it look 100% like new...
2. Called samsung and was told to go to service centre and get quoted on the replacement. I heard from you it's RM150? i tried youtube on the disassemble process, and the back casing, looks like pretty much DIY capable...if i'm taking my own time and patient enough. I open up my note2, i saw the warranty sticker covering one of the screw hole...so i guess i'm not doing anything yet for the time being... thanks for your video, it helps. There was this forumer by the user name Emino in one of the very early threads who got it replaced at the SC, and he reported that amount. The good thing is that most Samsung devices are DIY capable, and that's a very important thing in my opinion. How much did you get the bezel for? |

the bezel or 'back casing' replacement set cost around RM50 from ebay...
sure...you can add me to the list of owners... i also bought the blue piece of plastic shown in the video you posted...that's like about USD1 only for 5 pcs of them...haha... the one used to pry open and separate the back casing and the LCD screen... May I ask if there's any difference in AP set vs SME? Anyone willing to share experience? Or all depends on luck whichever set you get?
TQ. |

QUOTE(Vad3r @ Mar 18 2013, 02:15 PM) May I ask if there's any difference in AP set vs SME? Anyone willing to share experience? Or all depends on luck whichever set you get? There's no difference as they are both from Samsung. SME means it came by OFFICIAL channels and warranty is given and honoured by the Samsung Service Centre.TQ. AP means a grey market or parallel import, ie not imported by Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME). The units are from other countries' sales channels, and warranty is provided by the shop you got it from. Now, there are other FAKE sets which some sellers will say "AP" as well. See post 2 for the link on how to identify fakes. It's fake coz they made the unit look almost identical to a Samsung device but none of the internals are Samsung, and usually they use cheaper and/or lower quality components. However, some people are apparently happy with these sets ... |

Or all depends on luck whichever set you get? the difference mainly on the pricing. you may save RM200 for ap set bought. Warranty wise, very depends. some say SME gives you hassle free and they honor all the warranty. Again, ap warranty also considered good if you buy from the trustable ap dealer.TQ. I have both ap and sme set before. In fact, i found ap is much better than sme set in terms of battery life....too bad i sold my ap set already...else i can show you the comparison. AP doesnt mean mediocre but a lot of times some percentage of luck when you buy ap or sme. IF you want to save RM200 go for ap set but you are kind of people who worry this worry that about warranty, then sme set lor... 1899 sme set is very tempting and also a good buy.... |

SME set is from Samsung MalaysiaTQ. AP set is from other country Malaysia Telco and samsung shop will definitely sell SME set. Other shop may sell both. The difference is who provides the warranty |
