Man... a feature from the d50 that's missing is the flash commander. Now i'm considering is it worth an extra RM1000 to upgrade to the d70s? decisions decisions....
*
Buy D50 first, master it d move up D200/D2X, dun bother the D70s.
Important is the glass, not the plastic!
RM1000 can buy a pretty good flash plus a 50mm prime.

About Rm700-800 for an sb-600. Then RM350-400 for the prime.

But that's besides the point. I really could use the flash commander feature. And in order to do that, I need to either get an sb800 + another slave or su-800 commander + another slave. Either way, the cost about the same as getting a d70s. This is an important feature for me. And from what I've heard, d2x doesn't have this feature either. Hehe.

As for glass, yeah it's important and i'm already planning the 'upgrade' path. Hehe. But the 18-55/70 kit lens is fine with me to start with but I'd rather just get an all rounder 18-200vr, a prime and a wide angle.

Anyone selling their d70(s)? =)

sorry noob here...wanna ask few questions, why u guys said 18-55 is not enough to use then the 18-70? Is it in terms of not enough in macro or telephoto that you guys mentioned?
Another question is, if i use normal film AF lenses in DSLR, what is the different between those lenses wif digital lenses?? rolleyes.gif

Yeah ... is it the lens can't do much, or the photographer can't do much with the lens? Kekeke ...

And how do you expect the D2X to have remote flash commander feature when it doesn't even have a pop-up flash? Why is this feature so important anyway? Are you thinking of setting up a studio using a bunch of SB-800s? tongue.gif

Important to me because I use a lot of flash photography and moving the flash off the camera wirelessly is rather handy. No, not setting up studio with a bunch of sb-800. Hehe. Though I'm also interested in portraiture photography. (did i spell that right?)

Portraiture? In a studio-type environment can lar ... But out in the open? You're better off with a flash bracket and chord. The wireless communications takes some time too ...

Why are so many people interested in the 18-200 VR? Seems like a rather optically compromised lens. I'd wait to see what the Sigma DC 17-70 with its 20cm focusing ability can do, as well as a bunch of other lenses. Not a big fan of high zoom factor lenses - they're almost always optically compromised in one way or another ...

i want to buy too!
i will buy Nikon D2X,AFS 17-35mm,AFS 70-200mm VR, AFS 200-400mm VR,AF 85mm
*
wa...u serious?? or r u just joking?? shocking.gif the camera alone can kill all my life savings liao doh.gif

oh ya...by the way, richx, wanna join us for the camera shopping trip?? smile.gif heard u said u wanna buy a D50 for your sister smile.gif

anyway, if for me a D70s n a SB600/800 is enough liao smile.gif for me i take more potrait shots than telephoto/makro so 18-70mm is sufficient oledi wink.gif n i heard some arguments on 18-55mm lens n 18-70mm lens sweat.gif

so how do u wanna compare these 2 lenses? rclxub.gif i oso dunno... blush.gif try la...

well...the simple first, 1 can only reach 55mm(about 82.5mm on a 35mm camera based on nikon 1.5x factor) n another 70mm(about 105mm on a 35mm camera). so 18-70mm can zoom more (should be doh.gif )

2nd...the min aperture value for 18-70mm is 3.5-4.5
for 18-55mm is 3.5-5.6...in my opinion kinda not so good for makro shots since the min f at 55mm is only 5.6. u have no choice but to have the front n back of the object u wanna take to be in focus a bit rather than throwing everything front n back of the object out of focus. kinda hard to explain actually...have to c more photography books where they teach how to shoot makro at different aperture rclxub.gif need some photos to compare oso blush.gif n of course at 5.6 u have to use a slower shutter speed since the aperture has become smaller (flash oso can la). okla in simple words really need to test the 2 lens then only u know. but 18-55mm is sufficient for normal usage actually

n ferox/cyberkid...u guys sure u wan D50 + 18-200mm VR lens?? both of these combine together can almost buy the D200 (body) liao sweat.gif

so richx?? wanna join us?? the more the merrier thumbup.gif

Nah I'm not buying anytime soon lar. My sister's sitting for SPM end of this year only - and results coming out long after that - I just want to know what kind of prices the items can get for - have to plan my savings! But I might not get her a D50 due to lack of DOF preview - and my sister is primarily a macro shooter, so it might be important to her!

When is it anyway? I wouldn't mind meeting up for yumcha/chit-chat with you guys if I can make it. Friday~Sunday I'll be away to Kota Bahru with my family tho ...

do you plan to get a closeup filter? that thing wont do macro on its own. tongue.gif btw max aperture is mostly irrelevant in macro photography because most of the time you'd want MORE dof, not less. smile.gif macro lenses are designed to be sharpest stopped all the way down to minimum aperture. wink.gif
