Why are so many people interested in the 18-200 VR? Seems like a rather optically compromised lens. Yup. "Studio-type" environment. Anyway, why would you say flash bracket and chord is better? I would imagine wireless is the way to go - don't have to 'tangle' with wires.

Because flash + bracket + the right length cord is more manueverable. If you want a real studio setup, get real studio strobes ...

If you are considering Canon and on a budget, you could get the EF 24- 85mm f3.5/4.5 USM. With a bigger budget, you have other options like the
EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS , EF-S 17-85mm f4/5.6 IS, EF 28-135mm f3.5/5.6 IS USM. Either of these lenses would cover photographing 'flowers, landscape and the occasional portrait'

Or if you have even more, the L lenses are always there. Or if you have even more than that, there are always German objectives such as Leica, Carl Zeiss etc which you can attach by means of adapters...

For nearer focus, you can always obtain the EF12 / 25 II extension tubes. Or a close up filter if you have limited finances.

Filter? For landscape probably all you need is a polarizer.

what does a polarizer do?

And btw,

IS there a filter that can actually make gradient in the sky? Make the blue darker and the rest remains and not blueish?

Look for Circular Polarizer.. it does this smile.gif

this have to depend on whether the shop wanna give us reasonable price or not sweat.gif if they keep on putar belit n keep on saying "i only untung sikit-sikit ar" (the most stupid excuse shopkeepers will use doh.gif ) then most probably cannot make it liao sad.gif have to buy seperately... sad.gif
