D70 has no mirror lockup too la. the one in its options is only for cleaning purposes. tongue.gif The main differences is that the D70S can finetune WB, has 1/3 stop increments in ISO (D50 is in full stops) and the D70S' inbuilt flash has commander mode. Oh, CF vs SD too. I'd go for the D70S if only for the CF support.

The D50 AF-S DX 18-55mm ED kit lens is not all that bad. It focuses reasonably fast and silently for a budget lense. It's sharp and doesn't have as much distortion at 18mm wide compare to the D70 kit lens AF-S DX 18-70mm.

You find more info of D50 at : D50 Review
But if you have the $$$. Go for the D70s lah. I am saving up to upgrade pretty soon.  rclxms.gif

how ori is the 'ori' bag? tongue.gif if its real ori nikon it shud have a warranty card and all. hehe. anyway its probably that generic medium sized bag with a plastic nikon logo they've been tossing in ever since the D70 came out (i bought mine from them)

2nd...the min aperture value for 18-70mm is 3.5-4.5
for 18-55mm is 3.5-5.6...in my opinion kinda not so good for makro shots since the min f at 55mm is only 5.6.

do you plan to get a closeup filter? that thing wont do macro on its own. tongue.gif btw max aperture is mostly irrelevant in macro photography because most of the time you'd want MORE dof, not less. smile.gif macro lenses are designed to be sharpest stopped all the way down to minimum aperture. wink.gif
