QUOTE(ardn @ Aug 20 2018, 04:17 PM) according to some people said that, 100mbps is the turbo-ed speed. Which mean the price of RM129/mth actually is 10mbps, Maxis just trick users to switch to their Maxis new Fibernation in order to grab TM users. I am currently using Unifi 50mbps, paid for RM179 monthly. Meaning that, my Unifi will be turbo-ed to 500mbps in the future.Actually I was quite exciting after I read this news and deciding to switch to Maxis Fibernation. However, the current situation is 100mbps for RM129 (present and future) vs 500mbps for RM179 (future). So I think I should keep my current unifi advance 50mbps and wait for turbo upgrade in the future. Unifi Turbo 500mbps @ RM179 vs Maxis Fibernation 100mbps @ RM129, Unifi Turbo 500mbps = Present(50mbps) - RM3.58/mbps, Future - RM0.358/mbps Maxis Fibernation 100mbps (both present and future) - RM1.29/mbps Divided by price per mbps. In short term, the Maxis Fibernation 100mbps is cheaper. However, Unifi Turbo 500mbps (Currently is still Unifi Advance 50mbps) will far more cheaper in long term. Especially those who need not drink cola.. 2-4mbps for hd or full hd streaming is adequate...more than 6 people in the house watching different stream full HD at the same time is not possible..that won't happen...if we need faster speed in the future, can always upgrade.. Xtra saving is better than extra bandwidth that you don't use.. |

QUOTE(ardn @ Aug 23 2018, 11:55 AM) For most people 30mbps is overkill .. Maxis also plan to launch 300mbps and 500mbps soon. By that time hopefully their pricing can be as competitive. I laud their initiative to launch the RM89 for 30mbps without quota, as it is sufficient for most household users.Especially those who need not drink cola.. 2-4mbps for hd or full hd streaming is adequate...more than 6 people in the house watching different stream full HD at the same time is not possible..that won't happen...if we need faster speed in the future, can always upgrade.. Actually I never buy physical PS4 disc since 3 years ago. Uncharted 4, MHW, GoW, P5 all downloaded directly from PS Store. |

Finally gotten my Unifi yesterday
initial installer no show during scheduled time of 9:30AM - 12:30PM, called the installer number from the sms issued by TM, no answer the whole morning, until 12:30PM when I'm about to call TM to complain the installer called, giving excuses they only received the assignment notification just now, while they're still on holiday yesterday after Hari Raya Haji. Asked me if I'm ok with changing the date of installation to Sunday, I screwed him back, that I already took leave that day to wait at home just for this installation, and I want it done on the same day! He apologized & said will arranged with TM again. Few minutes later, received another SMS from TM, stating another installer will be at my house that afternoon, 5 minutes later, a new installer called, and they're there within 30 mins. All together the installation took about 2 hours, including setting up of the equipment. I paid extra RM100 to them as the cabling are concealed in ceiling, and goes down within a wall port, was told first 50M open cabling are free, but concealed type are chargeable. Now enjoying 30Mbps speed compared to previous lousy unstable 8Mbps Screamyx |
