There is always a reason why things are priced differently.

You can try this method:

fixd link wink.gif
(dunno why LYN removing http: for post links now, added inconvenience sad.gif )

and that method is mainly for really dirty windscreens, id reckon if your windscreen isn't having water sticking on it badly you can just apply normally, at least rain-x themselves have never mentioned any special application methods tongue.gif

I bought PG's polymer sealant like yesterday and had it applied on the front section of my abah's car. It says not to apply wax on it, but internet searches tell me that it should be fine to do so hmm.gif. Should I apply wax?

Yeah. I have seen that before biggrin.gif. I think I'll just give it a shot since it has been probably at least 12 hours since the application of the sealant.

I just finished the wax application over the sealant. Here's how it looks like:

user posted image

It's as expected after waxing. The sealant does work as advertised though. It is just like wax. The wax gives a slightly shinier look. biggrin.gif

Currently since I'm tied to hand polishing only, the best I can do is to give it a shinier look sad.gif. The minor scratches that can only be seen under bright light or at an angle is bugging me intensely, but I can't do anything about that cry.gif.

mmmm...then I should say that RainX last 50% longer than Waxco....or maybe longer...
Ok...I change my mind. My experience in using Waxco...after one heavy rain shower and one round using the wiper, no more flying water beads. RainX can do much much better and can last much much longer.....

Two different beast. The Bosch doesn't have enough torque as compare to the Makita and it would bog (slow) down a little under pressure. It's also noisier. But, saying that, if you're just planning to DIY your own car the Bosch is far better than those cheapo China made ones....

Very very nice...see....you don't have to be a pro to do coating nowadays...hehehe. But....errr...come back after around 3 ~ 4 months. That's normally the threshold to gauge the performance of a coating.

Nice job. Now come the difficult part.....MAINTENANCE.
Don't worry too much about the scratches....those are actually the easier (relatively) part. Learn how to maintain and protect the paintwork and how to MINIMIZE swirls during washing, drying, etc. That is where the real hard work is. I mean...you don't really want to polish your car every month do you....

I have already invested in a microfiber mitt from Meguiars as well as three supremeshine towels biggrin.gif. Got myself an RM12 PVA absorbent tower for the job, and it works pretty well. Quik-dry's the brand.

Since Both of the model that mentioning was RB. how about picking up a OB ? as for a amateur to start off izzit too fast?

Should i invest in something like SKIL Polisher 9080 ?? which is more cheaper and i heard this brand is little brother from Bosch ? Is this reliable ?

I would say stay away from the Skil unit as it doesn't have soft start. There's a Chinese Made rotary by a local company called Aikka that looks pretty decent. It's going for rm300-350 and has soft start, though the trigger is a little stiff. Never really used it for a job so I can't really comment on it performance wise. Only test it out free hand while window shopping at my supplier.

I am really amazed by some query, someone would spend money to do coating and then ask me if it is fine to send outside car wash? If you really cared that much, you would not ask if it is fine no? No matter you send tepi japan bawah pokok or premium outlet, no one will wash and care your car that much other than yourself.

If you mean coating, it is Dodo Juice Supernatural sealant. Well, they call it sealant but it can last quite a while. But to get to this stage, plenty of materials and tools were used. And of course, a lot of time and patience.

Yes, 3~4 months time is what I am more eagerly waiting to see. Will be very happy if it can do 1 year or more. Thanks for all the advice and guidance. Now need to learn how to maintain it.

I didn't manage to get a glass mirror finishing, was worried to continue, I saw some symptoms that I asked in Osren. Small pot holes look alike thingy. biggrin.gif
Need to gain more experience to deal with the car paint.

Wahh....so fast got see pin holes already ah? Paint must be very thin already. 'Customary' wax job by dealer/agent....? Remind me to bring over the PTG next time around when we meet....maybe during the 'machine' session....

The pin holes should be even in size? Mine wasn't even, and you have to look very close to see it.

No, the car was never send for wax/polish by outside shop. Only washing.

It is my wife's car, will see if she let me bring it over.

I don't think it is "very thin". Because I can still see some scratches, which I cannot remove using whatever left that I have.
