Hi All,

I am currently in the midst of looking for a car. It's either Kia Forte 1.6SX or Kia Rio.

Would appreciate if anyone can provide some answers to the below questions on Kia Forte 1.6SX:
1. Is it powerful enough to go up Genting with 4 adult passengers? Anyone tried it, please help to comment.
2. Does it feel underpowered for 1.6 6-speed engine?
3. Can anyone share how much discount and free gifts did you receive when purchasing the 1.6SX version?
4. How effective is the GPS?
5. For Forte 1.6sx 6-speed owner, have anyone tried the Kia Rio? Would like to know your thoughts on the power comparison between those 2. I know they are different engines, however, would like to know whether there is any drastic differences in terms of power.

Thanks.

if u have budget and can wait, u can wait K3, if naza no cut down the thing and same spec with korea, i think is very good car, oversea review is good on this car, many nice feature, problem is the price should be 98K and above, price is according to naza kia technician comment. k3 engine is new GDI engine, look like better and is latest engine smile.gif

Wow 98k++.

Those people with budget constraint will buy current Forte with big discount especially 1.68 interest rate of loan.

If its not too much to ask, would you be kind enough to list down in point form the problems which you've heard affecting the Preve?

I know this is off topic (that this is a Forte thread), but I'm just curious to find out. Thanks.
*
rompers, i would suggest you to head to Preve forum. you would be able to get more info from there. With that kind of price bracket, it's a good car provided you've the time to take your car for fixes.

I managed to ask one of the SA in Kia Motor branch, seems like it's too early to know when the launch of K3 in Malaysia. If anyone has insider news, appreciate if you can inform us. I was told the price would be between RM 90K - RM 110K. That's a big gap, but like i mentioned, nobody seems to know yet. Maybe the launch only happens next year. That's a very long wait if you're in need of a car.

K3 would be a sweet ride to have but I doubt most of the features would be available when it reach our shore. Normally, it would be a cut down version to accommodate cheaper price. But let's cross our fingers and hope for the best... smile.gif

there is something call 'wipe' . not a must to wash as too many electronics and wiring around on modern car.

1. not yet
2. good enough for city driving and doesn't feel underpowered when driving on highway for long distance
3. look for Motorman / Buydirect in gs, sure best deal and services
4. locked satellite within 3 seconds (i'm using papago x8.5)

I done that (engine wash)..once in every 3 to 4 months time since 3 years+ owning the Forte. Just ask the car washer to cover the air intake hole, battery terminals & ECU with water proof material (i.e. plastic bag usually) & that should be fine to do engine wash. It works for me..no harm done

Just got back from JNS service centre..
Went there to lodge a complain on dashboard rattle issue. The mechanic take a look, then drive 1 round to identify the noise. Then they try what they can; tighten up some nuts/screw etc..& the rattling noise still wont go after we took a spin..
In the end, they need to submit for warranty claim to open the dashboard. And it takes more than a month to get it done (im the 10th car in queue). Also, i was told to leave my car at SC for 3 days to rectify the problem..

I wonder how this can be settle if all the CKD Forte were affected. Naza should really look into this matter seriously..
A month ago, i was so anticipated to get on hand with my new Forte, and fast forward to a month later...the rattling noise driving me nuts, makes me think back, am i making the right choice? questioning the reliability of this car once again.. sad.gif

sub par quality issues does plague most if not all CKD cars.

A CKD BMW 523i also has rattle and squeaks and uneven gap panels on the dashboard and doortrim.

If I may also add.. Do ensure that this is carried out by a reputable car wash shop, not the nearest bawah pokok snow wash (that said, not all bawah pokok wash are un-professional) smile.gif
In simpler words, try looking for a place where the operator knows what he/she is doing in order to prevent any mishaps.

Which begs the question, what's wrong with the assembly plants in Malaysia? Why are the cars which are assembled elsewhere has no (or much lesser) problems/issues?
Is it the mentality of the workers? Lack of motivation due to incommensurable pay? Our local JV Car Manufacturing Partners having the 'tidak apa' attitude?
Or worse, is it because these local companies know tht we (the Malaysian consumer) are a forgiving bunch who 'talk only, no action' one?

doesn't want to go in to it. A lot of factors involved and in certain cases, sensitive issues.
