lol! i tot u guys really went to the forest to hunt for tortoise eggs and let it hatch to sell. hahaha! not bad mah, ur backyard can house so many tortoises. the yellow box turtle looks cool though! must be an albino. the manouria emys emys looks very cool too! a bit like sulcata. how come i never saw ppl selling it since it's native to borneo. illegal is it?

btw guys, any possible ways i can let go my leopard to WM? well at least they have reptile vet there. got proper antibiotics. unlike here. hope to let go while still quite healthy. don't want to let the situation worsen and then slowly seeing him die. it will breaks my heart even if its a reptile.

@btw, samperth u havent told me which part of sabah ur residing. maybe can meet up yamcha yamcha. talk talk tortoise lo.

When a tortoise is sick or less active not all the time its because of bacterial infection or sort ...... internal parasites or protozoa ........ or basic housing or diet not met !!

First you must determine what went wrong , could it be living quarters too cold , wrong diet .........???

I told you in PM to get it off the cement floor ( did you follow , may i have a latest detail or pictures of how it live now )

yo bro cool down ya. hehehe . my story very long. 1st i'll introduce my habitat 1st.
Attached Image
this is the sleeping or night habitat. temperature +-31C. with humidity 80-90%. warm using ceramic heat emitter.

Attached Image
this is the grass habitat. can move around. when put under the sun, the temperature can easily rise up to 45-50C. which is harsh. happened once. if put under the roof, still outdoor, temperature is about 31-40C depending on weather.

Attached Image
this is the cardboard habitat. no longer put under the sun because of the high temperature. now permanently in the back of the house under the roof. this pic was taken before moving it under the roof. temperature will be around 31-35%. can get direct sunlight starting from 3 pm like that. but my tort will hide from the sun. humidity varies from 30-80% depending on weather. usually 40 like that.

i alternate my tortoise between grass and cardboard habitat during the daytime. cz not sure which one is the best. he will walk around more in the cardboard habitat and find whatever dark shade to sleep. as for grass habitat, sometimes even lazy to walk and directly sleeps wherever i put him. i dunno where should i put cz if under the sun then too hot. if not under the sun then no uvb. so hard oh~ rclxub.gif

as for internal parasites and protozoa, i once gave my local vet for fecal exam, she looked at it and not sure if its parasites. so the vet ask me to give my tortoise fembendazole (ubat cacing for kambing). it seems no effect. 5 days later the vet gave my tortoise an injection. she said it is antibiotic but didnt told me the name of the med. 3 days later, i went to see the vet again for review, and she gave another injection and she said that's all she can do. see if there's any improvement. well, no improvement but my tort seems weaker (not as strong when try to escape from me holding him or when tearing the leaves to eat).

he's still eating but not as much. i feed him sawi, kailan and opuntia pad. i tried hibiscus leaves and flower, but he's not interested. so most of the time he only eats the 3 things i gave him. he rarely eats grass. there's only a few time i see him eats grass. which made me happy for a moment, cz its healthy for them. i did tried to mix the leaves and vege like salad mix, but my tort so clever one. knows how to pick the food he likes.

no cement floor for him. actually all this time he had this bubbly nose but it wasn't as frequent. it became worse when there was this one faithful day, i sprinkled some cuttlebone powder i made my self onto a piece of kailan for him to eat. and at the same day, he had this super heat stroke from grass habitat. 45C+. oops.gif so im not sure what causes the illness.

so any advice? please don't muntah darah for me raising my tort like this. im super new and still have a lot to learn. like i said, i tot having a tortoise would be easy until i have one now. icon_question.gif

Ok , my 2 sen - could be overdose ( both antibiotic or the wormer ) could even be the wrong type of medication administer ( antibiotic in this case ) as febendazole can be use in chelonian worming .

Any advice thru the net are just advice - to properly treat the patient , patient needs to be handled / examined and course of action determined thereafter .

One more advice , don't just take up a certain hobby without any research into its need before acquiring it !!

Oh the fembendazole i only used one drop. Cz its still very small. Since u said its used for chelonian, so what's ur suggestion for leopards? But probably wont give it now until he looks better.

http://www.anapsid.org/resources/rxdose.html

( your vet can't even bother to surf and confirm dosage before prescription)

What can I say - like I always say before here , your animal , die also I don't care ( research , research , research )

Btw it's much easier to obtain veternarian drug in Sabah than over east !!!

ZzzzzZzzzzzz.......... going back to sleep rather than waste time here ( I willing to share but without proper input I can't help solve the equation )

Have a nice day

I'm sorry if I wasted your precious time. It's not my fault that I trusted my vet. I'm not a vet myself and like you said, internet is just an advice .I can't simply search Internet , find names of drugs and inject my baby tortoise. I don't knw what other input you need. I provided my habitat, temperature, humidity, and food. And also, I didn't know that it' s easy to get drug in Sabah. It's my 1st time having an expensive exotic reptile as pet. Anyway, I do thank you for the help u tried to give and the fine U spent on my tortoise. I'll try to get help somewhere else.

Wanna ask, my RES got these white/silverish (light-reflected) spots on its shell and also got some under the belly. Should i be worried about this? What are these and why it happens?

Some additional info:
- saw some skin shedding recently (a week + ago) at neck and tail but almost finish/done.
- eats, bask and aware very well.

Bro...cool it off. brows.gif

Learning is the beginning with no ending. Least, he is doing research thoroughly.

This season time round, I bet you are fully engaged in eggs digging/hunting and preparing the incubation part. Good luck, this is a very fun experience you are going through. rclxm9.gif

ah.. thanks for the reply. from the link given i stumbled into this one: http://www.redearslider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=32906
and i think my RES have similar issue to this one instead.

I'm gonna do the iodine and neosporin treatment and see if it helps (and i hope i do it right).

Hi,thanks for commenting~the photo was taken at night time so I presumed she's sleeping. When got light source it is more active~few days back the left eye a bit slow to open up...but after I applied some oilment it seems OK already=)How about the shell?Any problem?
