This thread is quiet than what I expected, everyone is busy preparing for the coming GE?  bruce.gif
Let me share few pictures of my RT, and hopefully more people will be willing to share pictures of their beloved tortoise  biggrin.gif

PS: All pictures were captured last year.

For the last one, I got him last year from a LFS near my house. He was mistreated by his previous owner since very young age.
The previous owner kept him in a plastic container filled with water all the time (thought it was a turtle, luckily that the previous owner never drown him).
The main foods that the previous owner used to feed him with are dog food and kangkung.
I could have bought another healthy RT with an extra RM200 but I just can't let him suffer anymore..
Until today,  the condition of its shell had never been improving but at least he won't need to suffer from poor living condition and poor husbandry anymore, and I've never regret that I decided to bought him instead of a healthy RT  smile.gif

i just bought a couple of RES last week.
it seems don't like to eat pallets.

anyway to encourage them to eat?
does buying them a big aquarium with basking platform help stimulate their appetite?

and also saw some small white patch on one of the turtle shell.
i tot its dirt but it can't come out even i wash with water!
anyway to remove that??

nope. looking for solution. the first page mentioned we can apply certain oil on their shells. but i'm not really sure which one is more effective/ which one to use. need to consult the masters here.

And when i catch it up, it's eyes 1 open normal, another 1 open slowly..

I pet it in my courtyard(grassland?lolz)all the day and keep it in box(dirt land) at the night.

It's a 6inch male.

I just simply love the radiation pattern of your radiated tortoise.
The unique "radiation look" on their shell and their chubby face and legs are the main reason why I love radiated tortoise so much
Hopefully I can be one of the radiated tortoise breeder somedays flex.gif
Just think about the feeling when I see the babies radiated tortoise pip out from the eggs is enough to make me crazy wub.gif
Such a wonderful creature biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

The second plant is call mulberry tree ( leaves used to feed silk worm for silk ) That is a good green for al;l tortoise !!

OK back to the main problem - You got it for a month how about the previous owner ? I know a big group of them landed our shore about 2-3 mths back !!

If these are fresh imports they will have to be treated differently to LTC (Long Term Captive)

Cheers

Glad you knew what causes the reduce traffic in this thread !!

Just to inform you that this guy's fused scute is much worse than the previous one and has affected the overall shape , nothing can be done now unlike the previous one with only 3or 4 fused !!

If he is a Male , he should still be able to breed (hopefully ) But if Female her eggs may not develop properly or get stuck while being laid - shell towards end to tail part rather flatten !!

Cheers

Yeah, I realized that and I didn't put any hope on breeding this one.
Hopefully he is a male and so that he will never need to worry about the problem of egg binding...
And that is the main reason why I am looking to buy in few more pieces of radiated tortoise.
Three minus one is two, and the chances that I get one male and one female is rather low.
I think I'll need at least 5-6 pieces in total if I really want to breed them, and that sounds like a dream to me, especially after the enforcement of those stupid laws.. vmad.gif

In addition to it, the white lines are not even height around the scutes. Is that normal for growth that will be even gradually.?

Hi hi! Recently got 2 tortoises to teach my kids about responsibility (feeding them, monitoring the water cleanliness, etc). I was wondering, how much water is ideal? I saw the FP which says 4-6 inches? Isn't that too much? Googled around and realized most people keep their tortoises dry (or are those Western tortoises)? The tortoises need to breath above water, right? If it's too much, how do they sleep? Mine don't seem to climb onto the ledge at all.

Thanks for any guidance.
