Hi, I applied for the position that is posted in chinese but I translate it to be Project Manager/Director. From the description it is a pre-sales role and customer facing role. This is a role based in Shenzhen and I am a Singaporean. I am pending an interview arrangement soon via video conferencing. For a headstart, do they offer expatriate packages? The housing in Shenzhen is comparable to Singapore or maybe higher i found out. Anyone is working in Shenzhen but is a Singaporean too can share with me the expenses for relocation? Many thanks!!

Was told I cleared the first round of interview, a video conference with 2 seniors from Shenzhen. Then after a few days the HR recruiter asked me if i have a employment visa to work in China (obviously not). Then she said the company has a policy now to slow down on the employment of foreign internationals. They prefer to conservative in their recruitment at the beginning of the year. Told me that my application got to stop here and can't proceed...........
Wondering if there are forumers working in the HR that is familiar with employment policy of the headoffice?
HR assured me it is not an excuse to reject application and will try and explore other means for employment through a third party agency...LOL....feeling very sian now...

QUOTE(commtrader @ Feb 20 2017, 08:20 PM) Wow very high position? Usually shen zhen opening applicable for foreigners are very senior position I think mid-senior as said on linkedin. Maybe thats why they tell me about the foreign workers vs local workers balance policy. If very senior position it is usually very straightforward?

Every company is protecting local hires now. I was rejected many times when I tried to apply a job in Malaysia (PS: I'm Chinese, not Malaysian Chinese.) I think this is due to the employment policy throughout Malaysia. Please correct me if I'm wrong, from last year (I think) the foreign hire's income tax is charged to the company. Before that, the income tax was charged to the employee. So now company bears more cost in hiring a foreign employee.

No.. it the company must tax withhold the expatriate 28%.. as if the expatriate run away.. the company have to bare the balance tax.. so now most of the company will withhold 28% of the total salary
