Me prefer to use a car as an example..much easier to understand.
Phone = car
Firmware/rom = engine
Kernel = ignition
Root = car key
*
This is very interesting topic that I want to try my hand at explaining to newbies but I'll try stick to computer box terms as I feel the smartphone is quite similar in that regards.

Smartphone = an entire computer like a notebook
Kernel = the bios & hardware drivers
ROM = the HDD containing a windows OS and a set of hardware drivers
Recovery = a HDD partition & image manager
Root = having the bios password & windows administrator password

does the original back cover still fits properly?
That's definitely expensive..
Samsung needs to buck up on their exterior design
*
I'm using this qi charger pad and still fit thin casing and flip casing.
Still gets charged even with flip casing.

chenglu got touch also nod.gif
dont rmb having a non touch version hmm.gif
maybe that was an early version?

6.0.1.5 in benny888's guide i figure was using this version, which is to me at least the most stable one of them all.

anyways, thanks to fruitie's misfortunes with monx and jump-ship to ROMOW, which i religiously follow, i'm now a convert!

paired with P30.1 seems like a good idea although R1.01 is out, it seems that perseus has more changelog (which i'm a sucker for, the longer seems to mean the more stuff is in there, and i love more stuff)

on nova launcher now with stock JB icons and such.. woohoo! happy camper! nod.gif

kernel as bridge.. that's a good analogy. i believe someone posted the user -> rom -> kernel -> hardware in a nice box showing that we interact with the rom, rom speaks to the kernel, kernel mobilizes the hardware, right?

haha..u beat me 1st to list down as pc terms.
anyway is the best analogy for newbie & those just migrate from crapple user

although in my understanding:

Kernel = pc drivers
cwm = bios to re-install/ recover os installation.

correct me if i miss-info tongue.gif

I gave up, plugged out my cable and used my laptop to charge. Surprisingly the battery icon appeared and I think it is charging now...

Put back to my adapter, no effect. sleep.gif

Will try again with adapter when it has more charges, at least I see red LED now.

Does your adapter have the hissing sound issue all this while ?

Guys, any of you who're using Celcom, is there such thing as multi-sim?
I know maxis got it but does Celcom also have this?

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...8990&sec=nation

It was announce on 2008 but I failed to get anymore info on it.

I'm on Celcom Power 148 with unlimited data so would be nice to have multi-sim on my tab as well tongue.gif

lol..

my understanding:

Phone = car
Firmware/rom = engine
Kernel = "Auto Transmission/Gear Box"
Root = "install turbo charge or modify exhaust pipe at the engine and any other non ori parts..." tongue.gif

and:

custom rom = change/modify non ori engine..
custom kernel = change/modify your A/T.
custom theme = repaint your car and add air spoiler/skirting... thumbup.gif
