this is a lumia 920 spesific discussion la bro. if u want to rant just about WP8, go the corresponding thread la. most of us in here are hardware guys; we love the lumia for its hardware first, OS second. constructive criticism is welcomed but yapping angrily, not at all.

It's my honest and faithful review my friend. I'm talking about this phone in general. The anger part was just to express my utter disappointment. 

not a problem, however your review was totally about WP8, not lumia in general. i dont you see rant about the design, the camera, sound quality etc. 

but your concerns are sound and agreed upon by many. try ranting at windowsphone central, you might get the attention and push the windows people to do better. i believe they do join the forums to look for feedbacks from customers.

I had my phone for a month already, and I would like to admit that it was a regretful decision. The sole reason why I bought this phone because it's beautiful, gorgeous, sexy, and it's merely indestructible phone branded NOKIA. But the major disappointment comes from the Windows Phone Market/Microsoft, the market is not only growing slowly but instead despicably SLOW, in other words EXTREMELY SLOW.

Here are some reasons why you shouldn't buy a Windows Phone for now.

1) PDF format is the most essential file for mobile usage, especially when it comes to storing and viewing hotel and flight voucher/itinerary. Microsoft has once again fail to meet such demands and release an incomplete/non-versatile version of PDF Reader. This is by far the most immature move by Microsoft.

2) Temple Run was announced and promised that the app would come to the platform by holiday season of 2012. So what now? no news of it till now? A broken promise is a broken promise indeed, clearly displays their irresponsibility.

3) Usually there will be new XBOX games released by Microsoft once a week but not until recently. This shows either the Windows Phone Market is not showing a good view of value and customers or Microsoft is backing away from Xbox games on Windows Phone.

4) Microsoft endeavors that 46 out of 50 top apps by the end of 2012? Do I see a progress? Do you see a progress? I believe Windows Phone users know the right and mutual answer.

5) There are more, trust me, Windows Phone is a still developing and an immature platform. There's more of just a single reason why Windows Phone isn't for everyone.

I swear on my own words that if Microsoft kept on with such slow pace I'll never, f**king ever, buy a Windows Phone anymore.

P.S. I bought a Windows Phone because it's Nokia.

Tbh, the camera is pretty bad, but I do understand that the Portico update may fix the sharpness issue but the wait for the update is just too long. And oh, Nokia Maps is pretty inaccurate even with data connection on, the maps in the place I'm living (Penang Island) is quite outdated. There's one day I took a ride with my colleagues and showing them how awesome Nokia Maps was in offline mode, mana tau, pffft.. the GPS lead me to a T-junction entering the main road, and guess what? It's a one way road to the left and it asks me to turn right. Not only this situation was brought up once but three times! You couldn't imagine how embarrassed I was. 

I do agree with many of your points, but, despite your complaints, Windows Phone app store is the fastest growing app store, the stats say everything.

There is a PDF reader available, and, if you want to read chm files which is also a type of PDF that could be harder, but there seems to be an app for that as well.

There is a game similar to Temple Run called Ragdoll Run i think. Im not a gamer on a phone (though i still bought AB Space and Crimson Dragon because i already have Xbox account for my PC windows games). I have said it before, windows phone is only slightly more than 2 years old, still a very young OS.

So far i havent felt restricted yet after using an android and hopping to windows phone - i dont use instagram, which is the main app missing from windows phone to me. Android is "pretty" simply because of live wallpapers. Trying putting on black background and android will also look boring. You can manually install apps in android phones but i never do that, and i dont take apps from 3rd part sites, so im not that affected.

The only restriction i felt so far is the limited codec support for videos. Waiting for VLC player.

tu la, next time before showing off, google around for potential problems first.    nokia maps gets updated quite slow, so that might caused the problem you faced. i encountered the same hassle a few times before in singapore where they re-routed roads often these days because of the mrt lines upgrade. it told me to go forward when there was a big@ss piling machine closing the junction and once directed me 7kms around hectic town area when i could have just make a left turn earlier and avoid all those wasted kms at the first place. back here in JB, navigations are solid, probably since the roads are just still the same after all these years.

other than that, the navigation works quite well for me, especially when i turn off celular, data and even wifi. someone posted before that having data on simultaneously with your maps location services will cause problems since it will try to retrieve infomation from its online servers as well as its real-time satellites positioning.

Nokia have another 2 pureview phones coming, codenamed EOS which supposed to have a big sensor like the PureView 808, and another codenamed Catwalk with the same OIS tech as the Lumia 920, but maybe they bump up to 12-13MP. The difference here is both are aluminium build, and bulk and weight are greatly reduced; the phones by Nokia this year will only max out at 4.7 inches, until WP supports 1080p there will be no 5 inch screens from Nokia.

I expect the EOS and a tablet to be revealed next month - Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which Nokia will be attending, and also where they announced the 808 Pureview last year; the Catwalk is supposed to replace the 920 will be announced later this year - as usual, around October. Since 808 is the last Symbian phone, that means Nokia will announce windows phones in next month's MWC, and i expect 3 devices to be announced - the EOS, Lumia 720, and a tablet.

Nokia needs products to push on their sales or they will be making losses again. The last quarter was a profit because of holiday season - and they waited till January to launch the 920 and 620 in asian markets so that sales can be balanced (instead of something like huge profit in last quarter and big loss in next quarter), the 620's low price will boost the sales for 1st quarter of 2013.    To maintain the sales they need to have new products in 2nd quarter (April-June) to go against HTC's new M7 (that replaces One X)and Samsung will pop out their Galaxy S4 some time in March-April. Thats why next month you will see more compelling products from Nokia, both high end and mid end.

Fastest growing with bloated apps I suppose.
Some flight itineraries and hotel booking slips are secured and alter-proof. In that case, unable to convert to other file formats. If you have any suggestion, please tell me. I'm a wanderlust and lacking a proper PDF reader is a major set back for me.

Well that's the reason why we switched WP. I'm kinda bored with Android and iOS user interface already. But it's interesting that you're not in need of those features

You do realize that this all are just rumour right? I won't be surprised if Nokia doesn't announce anything on MWC. And maybe the EOS and catwalk is the same phone.

Im also predicting stuff myself; if Nokia doesnt announce something in MWC they are shooting themselves in the foot. Nokia has always attended MWC with new products; dont forget they didnt announce anything in CES.

many people bash nokia since the 920 seems not up to the hype; i.e. camera not trumping the 808. i believe, nokia can anytime make another godlike phone and kick every other phones @ass, but this time the problem lies with MS. if the 920 came fully fledged to beat the 808's hardware but the OS tanked, nokia will go down regardless of the hardware. it then would need the favour of MS to back them up financially and right now, its like nokia has to bow down to MS for survival.

now that the market reacted with demands for better photo/video capabilities and that WP8 is gaining fans, the future is for them to take.

Yep, i dont use instagram - i dont see the point in signing up for one just to use it to upload photos to FB when i can upload directly to facebook,    and i also dont see the need of having too many social-related accounts. Fb & twitter enuf for me, i dont need Google+ or Instagram or any others. 

And, i like how you added the word "pirated" for your videos.
