For me the WIFI fix is important when at home. Can turn off Data and connected to the WIFI whole day to receive whatsapp msg and push email. And also there's improvement in the camera from the update as well.  smile.gif
you check from your phone is OTA for sure not yet roll out.

Yup. Since u bricked your phone. You can flash it your own if you got experience in flashing Nokia smartphones...
After a few more charging cycles you will feel that the lit-ion battery is getting betterĀ  smile.gif
*
whats the firmware number? i could only find the original firmware.

Edit: nvm i found it. heh looks like theres one good reason for the bricking. Gonna flash it to portico. it should be this:

1232.5951.1249.1007

weird that theres malaysian firmware for Grey 920 for both stock and portico firmware when grey is not available here.

I flashed to Portico from other region myself on the first hour I got this phone.  tongue.gif
Using for nearly 3 weeks so far no issue. I might want to flash it back to MY variant in future. I got keep few variant of firmware myself for backup since Nokia announced that they are closing the public access to their firmware soon...

which means you have not tried the restore process. read my experience later tonite. Need to be careful with WP8 restore process for it to run smoothly.

Yea exactly! And also is stupid that you will only get that option to restore with new phone or hard reset.

and high number of users reporting bricking during hard reset including me.

How to flash to Malaysia firmware ya. Mine is Indonesia set and currently at Indo also.

follow the instructions here http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-92...ned-inside.html. After you installed navifirm look for RM-821 and then 1232.5951.1249.1007. Thats the malaysian portico firmware but dont blame if something goes wrong because indo should have their own firmware.

so as i was saying, i bricked my 920 while hard reseting and had no choice but to flash it to bring it back alive. thankfully the malaysian portico update is available and flashed to that. Below is my experience:

1. Flashing process itself is very fast

2. After its completed, its back to factory settings and will ask you to log in

3. This is where WP8 is rather stupid. You CANNOT setup wifi first. You must sign in using data. So happen my data connection was not stable and my phone got stuck at the sign in. Soft reset. I walked out of the hotel to get better reception and it signed in smoothly. walked back in hotel to get wifi and the restore process switched to wifi.

4. Contacts, calls history and sms history restored rather smoothly but the app restoration is flawed. this is because it only restores apps from your current region. u get some errors for the rest. i switched region later and some download but a bunch seems to still show error.

5. Despite the errors, i seem to have gotten all my apps back. But the download errors remains. So i manually delete the downloads one by one.

6. There is also just one backup for you to chose to restore from. The latest one. All app data is gone. My whatsapp message history all gone.

7. Over all i didnt enjoy the restoration process

8. On portico, the features it brought all works fine. wifi is always on now hence whatsapp works better. There seems to be no difference on battery life so far and pictures seem better but i am afraid its the placebo effect.

Well, guys, all i can say, if you want to keep waiting, you will wait forever. Nowadays it is normal for your new phone to become outdated in 6 months; Nokia is unveiling more new Pureview phones next month. So, just pick what catches your linking and buy if u really need a new phone.

By the way, given how Lumia 920 only started selling in November, Okay, that wasnt bad, Nokia is back in profitability.

but i have no complains on the 920 hardware wise. Nokia can provide superb phones but its microsoft that needs to step up.

i am not the type that changes the phone all the time. my last phone lasted 2 years and the reason i switched was the battery was shit and was bored of iOS. wanted to try something new.

IMO even though new phones are released every 6 months the hardware difference between these phones wont be so much to truly consider your phone "outdated". Besides while hardware is churned out every 6 months, can the software keep up? whats the point of all the hardware if the software cant utilize it?

I am just looking for a phone that has a good balance between hardware and software. iPhone has that but its so damn common and every year the phone seems to look the same.

I couldnt find a free pdf reader that supports password protected pdfs. I wanna read my CC statements on my phone.

So, you are implying there are paid ones available?  hmm.gif
no. I just didnt bother looking into details of the paid ones. This is option should be free. adobe seems to have official pdf app for wp7 but yet to make one for WP8. disappointing.

One another note, I am experiencing an issue with the proximity sensor. When i put the phone on my right ears, i tend to accidently end call midway because my cheekbone hit the end call button. I made a hypothesis that this is due to the fact that on my right hand side, the proximity sensor will be placed further from my head. Seems to be a liable theory since this does not happen when i have it on my left hand side. any one else facing this issue?
