How about this one?  brows.gif
15.6"
Lenovo Z500, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT645M @RM2299, 4GB, 1TB, W8; backlit, 2 years warranty (4-cell)

That seems pretty awesome, thanks.

So between the Z500 (Found one for RM2179 and the Dell 14R SE plus 1-year basic warranty (Around RM2300) which one would you recommend?

Edit: Also, what about the Y480? Can get for around 2.3k.

2. RM 3k but can exceed a bit...
3. Use for college work (I'm in accounting, so preferabbly to have numpad) n gaming like AC, Hitman, Crysis
4. 15" n above
Considering lenovo y580 but is phased out...

Dell Inspiron 14R SE's RRP is RM2049 only with 1 year on-site warranty nod.gif

Its up to you, whether screen size OR warranty support and longer battery life is more important to you nod.gif

Ah I see. I think I'll go for the Z500 then. How Lenovo's support?

Also, found a 2 year old Sager NP8690 With I7-820QM and GTX460M for around the same price as the Z500. Thoughts?

Gee, you are putting me on a spot laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
I think all 3 models has a compelling package at this price point. And at this price point, you have to make compromise, can't have the best of everything tongue.gif
My personal (some of these are very subjective) opinion:
Screen - V3, 15R SE, Y500
Keyboard - Y500, 15R SE (don't have numpad, which is a good thing for me laugh.gif), V3
Touchpad - 15R SE, V3, Y500
Speaker - Y500, 15R SE, V3
CPU - even
GPU - Y500, 15R SE / V3

If your main usage is game, Y500.
If your main usage is video / photo, V3 (hook it up with desktop speaker)
If your main usage is work and want good warranty, 15R SE.

Hello all! My 4 year old Acer Aspire 4937G looks like is finally heading the grave and in need of some help for laptop recommendations

1. Preferred Brand - Not so choosy on this, but would prefer to avoid Acer again due to frequent failure in hardware
2. Budget - 1.3k to 1.5k
3. Usage - Used for programming (Visual Studio, MATLAB and in Ubuntu) with some light gaming (e.g. Minecraft, Warcraft 3, CS)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 13" - 15" (not so choosy too on the size)

I'm not aiming for a very high specs laptop, a low-mid range like an i3 processor is good enough for me smile.gif Also due to light gaming only, I'm in a dilemma of whether to get a Intel integrated graphics card or not.

And..also preferably a laptop that can last as long as my previous one tongue.gif

Thanks!

1. Preferred Brand - Sager/Illegear, Asus, Acer .. or any brand

2. Budget - RM 4500 - RM 4999

3. Usage - For my mom - age 60. My father may used it too ... he's IT savvy. People may asked why buy expensive laptop .. she's not gonna play games or watch movies. However, due to my own mistake, greediness on technology update, and delay ... I've keep postponed to purchase the laptop for her since 2009. Therefore, the budget is going to compensate on the durability, comfortableness, warranty, or anything that will suit old people.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size - Please advice. Her eyes is much better than me. Old woman preferred big screen or small screen? Not much on portability as I believed the laptop will stay intact on the desk

for the dell with graphics card, if you are concern about the battery life, dont worry. the GT625M doesnt consume lots of power due to optimus technology + the 6 cell battery.

Thanks! I was thinking is a graphic card really necessary for my case? I'm trying to use an Acer Aspire 4710 with integrated graphics to play Warcraft 3, although some lags occuring but I dont play much so it wouldn't annoy me much.
