Wow! Even you recommend Dell for good warranty. I guess I can almost say bye bye to Lenovo then.

As for the model above, too bad for a guy like me as the models are all slim design that would run hot if I run some pretty heavy task on it. I Would prefer thicker built with very good ventilation (and no dedicated GPU) with ULV processor and the best of all, no W8. What is your advice on the models that suit my need? Or should I just wait for the upcoming Haswell?
*
Since I was suggesting high end consumer ultrabook, Dell Malaysia do has better offering than Lenovo Malaysia, and if user is willing to spend, Dell Malaysia offer complete coverage warranty (will fix anything relate to the laptop no question ask) for XPS series.

I remember you also want 11"? Not many 11" business laptop come with ULV.
Also most business laptop come with OS (retail I mean, corp has enterprise license so can always tell Lenovo don't need OS). If you talk to Dell, you can opt for Ubuntu for some model, and get a discount. But Dell Malaysia, ULV, HD4000, cheap cheap, I can only think of Vostro 3360, but that's 13".

If you really like the Thinkpad Edge E130, Lenovo Singapore sell it with i3 ULV, DOS. But SG has GST, so it is slightly more expensive, and it only come with 1 year Singapore local warranty.

Z500 is thin, but not ultrabook thin lah smile.gif
As usual, please get good external cooling solution smile.gif
Z series is aiming for multi-media use. The cooling component (heat sink, fan, etc) is not high end stuff, get the drift? laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

see here for some temp number smile.gif Note specs may differ.

Read the 1st post of this thread to seel how to differentiate local set vs grey import for Y500.

Gaming rig is just laptop with more powerful GPU, CPU, etc. Nothing fancy laugh.gif

If you really want smooth experience, for your usage, you actually need SSD (rather than overpowering CPU / GPU) smile.gif

12% discount from Dell is good. 3 years accidental warranty coverage is very good smile.gif

Thanks for the link smile.gif

So do you mean buy different laptop that not so powerful and just buy a SSD and plug in? If is that so,which laptop would you recommend?

Yeap, quite tempting for it and feel like make a deal already.but yet I still finding other sales assistant for the biggest offer sad.gif

I remember you want FHD screen right? Unfortunately, there are not many models in Malaysia with FHD screen. And all 15" FHD models come with i7 laugh.gif
Don't need to buy SSD from laptop brands (they charge high price for it). Stay within your budget, get the laptop first. Save a bit more (128G SSD ~ RM300+/-, 256G SSD ~ RM600+/-, but the price is dropping fast every year), buy the SSD and upgrade yourself later (will not voide laptop hardware warranty). SSD usually come with 5 years warranty from SSD brand.
FYI, Micron recently launched a 1TB SSD for USD600. Personally, I wait for the day when we can get 1TB SSD for RM600 laugh.gif

Edit:
Aiya, I forgot, there is this:
MSI
GE620DX, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT635M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2399, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS
Old model, with Sandy Bridge i5, but FHD. Used to be a popular model 2 years ago. MSI Malaysia still sell brand new unit. Not sure if you can find it in KK.

1. Preferred Brand
Preferred brand will be asus or any other brand will do but not Dell!

2. Budget
My budget is around 2k to 3k. If it exceed 3k, doesn't matter, as long as it's worth to buy.

3. Usage
I am working more on programming, web surfing, general purpose, versatile performance and light gaming. I wished the weight could be light enough for me carry to university everyday, battery life is important to me, keyboard as well and the most important thing is it need to be fast for works! BTW, I'm studying for degree in software engineering currently.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
13 or 14inch! If 15 inch but the weight is light, it doesn't matter but i don't think there's one?

Oh god, please help! I still can't make up my mind, thought some pros have given me suggestion. I heard that Asus is bad in warranty support and Zenbook is hard to be repaired once the problem exist. So now, this is my final consideration before i getting one:

Lenovo IdeaPad U410, i5-3317U
Aspire S5-391-53314G12, i5-3317U, Intel HD4000, 128GB SSD, 4GB Ram, 13" (1366x768) @ 1.35kg
UX32VD-R3001V, i5-3317U, Nvidia GT620M, 24GB SSD + 500GB HDD, 4GB Ram, 13" (1600 x 900) @ 1.3kg

my first consideration currently is Lenovo IdeaPad U410, i5-3317U because what i heard is their keyboard design is actually quite good but im worrying about others issue, anyone out there using this model? may i get some feedback from u guys? while the second consideration still Asus UX32VD and last goes to Acer S3, as it is exceed my budget which is below 3k.

As for Lenovo and Dell, yes they do offer international warranty coverage, but at a price nod.gif
And do take note that for Dell you can only claim warranty overseas after
(1) you have transfer your warranty from Malaysia to __________
(2) That country you are in offers the same model as well

Y500 with GT750M? Don't think it's going to be much different compared with current Y500 except a slightly more powerful GPU (still the same Nvidia chip, just different clock again biggrin.gif )
No, I mean replace the SATA HDD with SATA SSD, install OS and all your apps on the SSD. Boot OS up in < 10s, apps launch zippily. Once you experience it, you won't want to go back to HDD anymore laugh.gif
As I said, SSD price is dropping very fast. Slightly more than 1 year ago, RM300 get us 64G SSD, now we can get 128G SSD for the same price. 3 more years, I think we will see 512G SSD at RM300 thumbup.gif

for the dell with graphics card, if you are concern about the battery life, dont worry. the GT625M doesnt consume lots of power due to optimus technology + the 6 cell battery.

Asus
A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT645M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8
K46CM-WX090H, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M@RM2199[2kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8, OD

Use remaining budget to increase RAM (4G stick ~ RM80), buy SSD (256G ~ RM600, 128G ~ RM300) and swap with the HDD.

If you like good IPS screen, consider this:
Acer
V3-571G-736b8G1T, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT730M(DDR3) + (1920x1080 IPS) @RM2899[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8
