I just bought the GT-AC5300 to replace an RT-AC66U, and I'm happy to report that I can now achieve download speeds matching my upgraded Unifi package 800Mbps (vs max 550Mbps for my older Asus router).

However, I am unable to get HyppTV to work. That's because the LAN port number for HyppTV appears to be different in the GT-AC5300 settings page. Previously, for the RT-AC66U, I used LAN4 for HyppTV. For the GT-AC5300, the settings page asks me to use LAN1. Still, it cannot work.

Please help. Thanks.

Hi, hope anyone could help me. Purchased ac86u purposely to enable NordVPN & Netflix US on router level. Currently on Merlin latest firmware

Setup as per this guide
https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/asustwrt-merlin/openvpn/

I check my IP is US but somehow I cannot play US content. It said something like proxy or unblocker.

Please advise

Netflix started to clamp down people using VPN to geo-unblock the content and hence you are unable to use it.

Do you have different US servers in NordVPN? If yes, you need to try connecting one by one and try which is able to bypass, not every server supports as I was told.

Oh ya, the DNS server in NordVPN

10. Now you need to set up NordVPN DNS’es. Go to WAN in the left menu bar. In the Connect to DNS Server automatically field select No and enter NordVPN DNS servers as following:
103.86.96.100
103.86.99.100

There are 3 tests to see if you are connected to the VPN throughly, IP/DNS/WebRTC, if there is no problem and all is connected to US server means you are doing it right, and the problem now lies in NordVPN to provide Netflix support in their VPN servers.

Nord works, just try to change to different US server. Some are blocked, some are not. Use the obcusfated ones

I tried last night. And yeah, changing to LAN port 5 works.

But I lose the Bonding feature (even though I don't use it). I would have preferred Asus to allow me to manually choose the LAN port for IPTV. tongue.gif

Thanks guys!

Asus AC86u [Malaysia set]

Was good until this morning. Then this...only LAN 4 LED up. It's not the bright light up as per normal LAN activities. It's a dim light on & it stay on (like below picture)

I didn't do any settings update/ flash firmware or anything.

Done the following & nothing happen.

1. Disconnect all cable except the power cable & do a few time power cycle. [same result]
2. Power up & press hold the reset button (10 seconds). [same result]
3. Attempt recovery by press hold the WDS & then power up. [same result]

Anyone got any clue whats happen? Appreciate feedback. Thanks.

Looks like some hardware issue. RMA it. You bought it from Asus Malaysia, so you are eligible to claim warranty for it.

Hi guys, I’ve got two Asus Blue Cave units connected via Cat6 cable as part of a Mesh wifi in my house. Is it possible to connect Unifi TV box to the Mesh node instead?

Anyone has any issue with RT AC-88U router to achieve 800 Mbps using the standard stock firmware?

My brand new RT AC-88U router cannot achieve the intended 800 Mbps (TM speedtest using CAT5e 1 Gbps LAN connection). Sometimes, I get around 700 Mbps. The other day, I get around 500 Mbps. I have asked the Unifi technician to verify. They use their own D-Link DIR-842 C2 router and it can achieve >=800 Mbps... Please advice? Should I RMA or is there something in my config that can cause the fluctuation?

Hi eohl79,

Cannot, only the main unit will work with the HyppTV.

Hi eclectice,

Can you try update the firmware to the latest, factory reset and redo the configuration and test again.

Thank you

When testing using AC-88U and DIR-842, did you or TM Tech use same laptop or phone or you use yours and they verified with theirs?

Oh, I am sorry not to mention that I am using the latest stock firmware already (as shown in Asus MY Product Firmware page).

They verified both routers using their CAt5e cable and 1Gbps LAN-capable laptop and another terminal.

Hard to point point specifically but apparently the Asus is not performing to its specification. sad.gif

Can you check what is the established connection speed between your Asus router and your laptop?
