I just bought the GT-AC5300 to replace an RT-AC66U, and I'm happy to report that I can now achieve download speeds matching my upgraded Unifi package 800Mbps (vs max 550Mbps for my older Asus router).

However, I am unable to get HyppTV to work. That's because the LAN port number for HyppTV appears to be different in the GT-AC5300 settings page. Previously, for the RT-AC66U, I used LAN4 for HyppTV. For the GT-AC5300, the settings page asks me to use LAN1. Still, it cannot work.

Please help. Thanks.

Anyone has any issue with RT AC-88U router to achieve 800 Mbps using the standard stock firmware?

My brand new RT AC-88U router cannot achieve the intended 800 Mbps (TM speedtest using CAT5e 1 Gbps LAN connection). Sometimes, I get around 700 Mbps. The other day, I get around 500 Mbps. I have asked the Unifi technician to verify. They use their own D-Link DIR-842 C2 router and it can achieve >=800 Mbps... Please advice? Should I RMA or is there something in my config that can cause the fluctuation?

Hi eclectice,

Can you try update the firmware to the latest, factory reset and redo the configuration and test again.

Thank you
*
Oh, I am sorry not to mention that I am using the latest stock firmware already (as shown in Asus MY Product Firmware page).

When testing using AC-88U and DIR-842, did you or TM Tech use same laptop or phone or you use yours and they verified with theirs?
*
They verified both routers using their CAt5e cable and 1Gbps LAN-capable laptop and another terminal.

Hard to point point specifically but apparently the Asus is not performing to its specification.  sad.gif

Can you check what is the established connection speed between your Asus router and your laptop?
*
WAN and LAN1 is at 1 Gbps. LAN1 is connected to the laptop via Cat5E cable. WAN is from BTU with Cat5e cable as well.

Ohh.. I think I misunderstood. What you were saying was that the test was on LAN port, not even wireless, right? I thought it was the wireless speed.  biggrin.gif

I would say that the unit is not performing  sad.gif

It looks like it...Probably, I will RMA soon.

Hi eclectice,

Is the router factory reset before? Can you try setting the DNS of the router and test again?

And when you doing the testing, can you go to the Status at the network MAP and monitor the CPU usage.

Thank you
*
I think I had done a factory reset before.

What is the DNS of the router: should I set the router to use ISP (auto) or set it to use Google DNS? Or, do you mean to set the DNS from my laptop TCP/IP properties?

What do you expect from the CPU usage: any possible high consumption?

I will do this when I am at home.

Hi eclectice,

You can try set the Google DNS on the ASUS router.

And as for the CPU usage, try monitor the usage when you doing the speedtest.

Thank you
*
It is already using Google DNS...

Anyway, I will monitor CPU usage while doing the speedtest.

Hi eclectice,

Thank you for the result, it seen like the CPU didn't reach 100% when doing the speedtest.

May I ask, do you try using back the TM DNS to do the speedtest?

Thank you
*
Not yet, because I had other things to attend to after doing the tests. I will try if I have the time.

Hi eclectice,

May I ask, the notebook or PC that your used to test is using how many core CPU?

If the result result are still very low. do send for RMA, the service center will do the testing and identify the problem.

Thank you

Alright will do. So no need to set DNS for both WAN and LAN?

Could it be due to Torrenting or Skype?
*
It could be. DNS flooding or DNS denial of service.

Is the remote update server down since 1 week ago? Because I was checking the update button on my RT-AC88U's web browser and ASUS Router app (Android and Ipad) for fun, but it gave such a message "Temporarily unable to get the latest firmware information. Please try again later."

Asus Team, when will ASUS upgrade Let's Encrypt SSL cert manual verification scripts in RT-AC88U and other ASUS routers from ACME-v1 to ACME-v2 for our asuscomm.com domain since ACME-v1 server at Let's Encrypt has been deprecated?

See related topic over here: https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/certifi...router/103647/8

Anyone here knows why my Asus router app is detecting 4 anonymous offline devices on my Lyra network..? When I blocked these 4 devices from Internet connection via the Asus router app on my iPhone, I ended up blocking internet access to my iPad, even though the MAC address does not match those of 4 anon devices.

ASUSmy, A bug in the firmware or the app...?

App and Lyra firmware is up to date.

All 4 anon devices have almost similar MAC addresses (16:7B:44:CF:77:xx)

[attachmentid=10446036]

EDIT: If I use the green Lyra app, the 4 anon offline devices do not exist at all.

Probably, locally-administered MAC addresses emitted by wireless devices for something like WIFI-RTT protocol which has MAC randomization function.

https://www.netspotapp.com/everything-about-802-11mc.html

To protect the privacy of its users, Google is randomizing the MAC address used during Wi-Fi RTT transactions. Without MAC address randomization, hackers could abuse Wi-Fi RTT to spy on smartphone users and track their location.

https://source.android.com/devices/tech/connect/wifi-rtt

So, it is pretty useless to block MAC addresses for something like locally-administered MAC addresses. (if the second bit of the first byte/octet of MAC address is 1, it is locally-administered MAC address, now referred to as EUI-48 address)

user posted image

QUOTE
When an EUI is used as a MAC address (for example, an IEEE 802 network
address), the two least significant bits of the initial octet (Octet 0) are used for
special purposes. The least significant bit of Octet 0 (the I/G bit) indicates
either an individual address (I/G=0) or group address (I/G=1), and the
second least significant bit of Octet 0 (the U/L bit) indicates universal (U/L=0)
or local (U/L=1) administration of the address. A universally administered
address is intended to be a globally unique address.

https://standards.ieee.org/content/dam/ieee...torials/eui.pdf

http://people.csail.mit.edu/bkph/ftmrtt_aps

I think the user-level router app should hide these locally-administered MAC addresses to avoid confusion and leave this to pro-grade firewall software to decide.
