This is what I get asked every time I report the issue via Live Chat. They will ask you which option you want. Option 1 to re-contract (if already expired) then no need to pay for RM53 and any equipment replacement cost. Option 2 - Pay for it if don't want re-contract.

Every time the technician just called and said they have reset the port. They didn't come to my house to check. Just asked me to see if the problem resolved. Anyway, just now the technician called and I was not at home, then he said he will leave the new modem at the guard house. So ok la... didn't ask me to pay.
*
Which means after dragging their feet, they eventually gave u a new modem albeit uable to install since u werent home.

Hope it works now. Yr asus router should work good.

I was out of contract once, phone dead, i suspected modem problem.

Report, did test on phone, no good... they came, test, replaced modem, all ok, foc.

Ern,when i use full speed download and use hypptv, after feel hour the picture modem hangup(see like every 24 hour will hangup 2time,my place is very good for router and modem ),cant use internet about 10sec then Wan restored, bcz i see maybe now TM gave all VDSL2 modem is 2 in 1,i scare about later i cant use my new asus router if the old modem really want to change cry.gif
*
i'm sorry... i still can't follow...

do u mean:

1. when downloading, hyppbox video hang after playing a few hours, internet stop for 10 secs... that happens every day?

2. u are worried that in future, unifi will give u a modem-router which will render your own router useless?

if i read u right... one possibility is your hyppbox is probably going kaput.

u should post the modem and hyppbox models, with photos preferably.

that way, everyone is clear what equipment u have, can help determine if it is modem or hyppbox or router problem.

also, put back the old unifi router - does same problem persist?

if yes, it is modem or hyppbox problem - u should call unifi to run some tests.

if no, it is yr new asus router problem.

I've been reading this thread and started to check my system log on the router.

I bought an Asus RT-AC1200G+ because the D-Link DIR-615 crashed and TM was going to charge me some ridiculous amount for their mediocre router plus RM53 for service. After that I couldn't connect because my password as expired. Had them reset it 4 times but I did not receive the SMS with the new password until 8 hours later. All 3 SMS came in at around the same time. Thenthier technical department called and gave me the latest password but I was still getting a password expired screen from TM. Several hours later it finally connected but it was unstable. today between 7:02 am and 7:32 am, the modem hungup 46 times. Ridiculous.

So I called their customer service to enquire about a replacement. They will charge me RM53 for the guy to come over and RM400 for the new modem unless I renew for another year. What kinda bullshit?

FYI, it is not lifetime warranty unless you are on contract. For those who collected a new modem but did not pay anything, you will be charged in your next billing. Also, they wlll still charge you RM53 for having someone install it for you, even if he merely comes in to connect the fibre cable and power; which is all they need to do.
TM Unifi is a con job.
*
u did not read n understand the terms n conditions when u signed the the old contract.
what u experienced is normal, by contract u signed.
modem or btu is on warranty as long as u r customer.
router, dect phone and hyppbox (unifitv box) - warranty is only 1 year after u signed contract.
since u r out of contract, u pay for change of eqt except modem or buy yr own.
since u r out of contract, service for out of warranty items, u pay.

if u still hv questions on unifi issues, can ask for further clarification here:

Hi Alex9182,

By default it will be in "Auto" mode. It will be switch to "Disabled" automatically when any of the features are enabled.

So far didn't receive any feedback on any problem in Internet connection when the NAT Acceleration are disabled.

This apply to all our routers.

Thank you
*
good 2 know.

A question... Default, qos not activated... Is there some auto pecking order what gets priority?

So far, I hv no problem unless incoming has a problem. Seems it is intelligent enough 2 provide good online streams first while torrents is last, n i like that.

Rtac1300uhp 100mbps user.

Thanks for the advise.
One more information. When I setup for first time, there is strange condition that I actually can get a ping 26ms latency, very very low download speed (few hundred k) and about 20Mbps upload speed (using mobile apps for speed test). But I can't get this condition anymore. Not sure is due to firmware update or not. Any insight?

If switch back to old router still can use, can I eliminate the possibility of modem having problem? Any other setting should I confirm? DNS I'm using auto. OK?
*
can't follow u... bolded part.
latency 26ms, vv low dl speed - that's terrible - why u want to get it again?!

if unifi modem+unifi router = good, and...
unifi modem+ own router = bad...
it means yr router is either not set up properly or it needs a fix.

your router is a decent one, should work fine.

like a couple of others suspect, u may hv used incorrect id/password when changing to another router.
.. id, pw of router is a unique set, u need to call unifi to get; not same as yr wifi id, pw.
.. when u change to non-unifi router, u must change 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 for IP.

Hi ASUSmy,

I am using RT-AC1300UHP with the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.380_8119 installed, I am able to connect WIFI to all my android devices. However, as for my laptop the WIFI can be only connected sometimes, and most of the time it shows connected but no internet access. I’ve also applied the MAC clone step you mentioned earlier, but still no luck. Or did i missed out anything?
This is my troubleshooting result, not sure will it be useful or not
Please advise, many thanks
*
using same router, same firmware, pc windows 10...

i hv seen this "no internet access" but it only last a few seconds.. it connects eventually.

sometimes, it takes a while to connect - as long as u put under settings-wifi, "connect auto when in range".

and if yr laptop/pc has dual band, best to set one of them to off, on for the other.

of course, 5ghz within range gives much better results.

Hello all,
Recently I bought an Asus RT-AC1300UHP router (well not so recent, was already using about 3 months or so). I'm using the cable connection between router and my PC. One thing I noticed was that when I play games, the connection keeps on dropping out of sudden. This has never happened when I use my old TM stock router. Cable is fine, WiFi is also fine. Firmware is also up to date.
Problem : Internet connection out of sudden drop in middle of games.
Troubleshooting:
- State of cable - OK
- WiFi - OK
- Firmware - Up to date
Is there anything else that I could check to fix this issue?
*
u may want put back the tm router, play the same game and reconfirm if it is tm incoming or asus router problem.

what about other uses... online streaming, torrent..?

last 2 days, i notice intermittent slowdowns.

and several people reported line down in pj, shah alam, subang, seremban.... in unifi thread.

TBH, the RT-N12HP is a weak router by today's standards.. To me, it's like buying a 720p dumb TV today when there are far superior smart 1080p TVs and "inexpensive" smart 4K+HDR TVs.
*
this rtn12hp is still relevant; for its price of rm199, can't ask for more.
i used it for 4 years until 2 months ago... all good up to 50mbps; but can't do well with 100mbps.
i don't know why some users have problems with it for even 30, 50 mpbs... maybe becos i don't do gaming or cctv or other stuff.
QUOTE(voncrane @ Mar 4 2018, 01:48 AM)
Works fine for me. No forced @unifi suffix or Android issues (got 6 Android OS devices alone) or random reboots. P2P connections are stable and don't overload the router as on previous firmware.
*
this tplink ac1200... worked ok for me too on 100mbps... didn't notice the infamous rebootings... but then i used it only for a couple of days.
my fren also has no problems with it for some weeks now... he complains the wifi is not so good.
after weeks n months of reading users comments... no one has been able to explain why it works for some, not for others.
hardware or firmware defect(s)?

I was thinking of getting the new RT-AC86U, seems like getting lots of good review. The price puts me off...
China selling ~RM620 or 999 RMB
Malaysia selling RM1.5k
Makes me wonder where does that extra 60% margin goes to.
*
ya, when i saw that price, i backed off immediately! biggrin.gif

unless u have special requirements, consider cheaper rtac1300uhp... rm5xx - has been excellent for me.

The main reason for the AC86U is the Broadcom BCM4366E chip revision which fixes the known 5GHz issue.  Most of my devices for many years now run 5GHz since 2.4GHz is pretty much congested.

Get where you are coming from, the 1300uhp is at a good price/performance.  Just that have a high expectation of network stability, hence the choice for a faster processor, more memory etc with the AC86U. Networks are meant to be setup and forget, not managed at least for the consumer end biggrin.gif
*
the bolded has been my experience.

used rtn12hp_b1 for 4 years, all good up to 50mbps, non-gigaport, 2.4ghz.

with 100mbps, i had to change... to rtac1300uhp... using a mix of 2.4 and 5ghz... 14 devices in a typical 2 storey house.

both were bought at a local store, preinstalled, go home, plug n play... both excellent for what they do.

never had to tweak anything. except update firmware.

i hope u will find the root causes to the yr problem soon, cheers.

Seems its fixed, running over 50 hours without rebooting or 5GHz dropping.  Two of the wireless clients show over 30 hours connect time and that is pretty much proof that its finally stable.

Surprised how much problems that firmware caused.  Usually hardware failures are obvious and did not look forward to doing an RMA unless for certain to save everyone's time.  The suspicion all the while its likely the firmware.

Asus AC88U, AC86U and AC5300 routers offers a lot of interesting features for sure.  This should be the way for home routers acting as an internet (communications) gateway with smart management intelligence.

Asus no doubt is a good hardware vendor just that their software (firmware) seems to not have enough resources invested (or they do not understand the effort to get it right) and the end result is apparent.  Not sure how Asus handle their alpha and beta builds testing.  Maybe its the same with the other router vendors.  Asus entry to mid end routers firmware updates seem fine though from what I looked at so far.  The AC88U router on another forum had a couple of hundred pages long mostly on the firmware issues stretching almost a year before it went quiet.

Maybe my expectations are high and this is the norm with current generation of consumer routers. Been on the internet pre-streamyx, streamyx and Unifi, never had to do anything much to get routers setup except this time.  Even the TM supplied orange and white D-Link DIR-615 will run for months before needing a reboot (web administration page not found issue) and the AirPort routers bridged to the D-Link never reboots and just runs along.  To share experiences, the D-Link functions solely to login to Unifi and as a VLAN switch as it has its heat issues when the wifi runs.
*
Good to know!

About the old orange tm router... i used it for a year, was ok but lacked in wifi reach.
And i couldnt get full 10mbps at that time, speed not very stable.
Rtn12hp solved all that.

Will changing it to dual band router increase the range ?

rtn12hp is excellent for wifi up to 50mbps.

above that, it can't do well... need an ac router.

if u tell what speed u hv now, kind of home, devices, distances required for wifi, people can comment more.

Just upgraded my Unifi to 50MB, now using Asus N12HP router.

Plan to upgrade to dual band, budget RM300-RM500.

Can recommend one?

No gaming, only watch youtube, surfing, online movie, downloading huge emails etc
*
Whats wrong with yr router, why u need dual band?

Rtn12hp 2.4ghz is v good for 50mbps.

U wont get more with dual band for thatnspeed.

100mbps, u need to change.

any brand also can.

Yes, I was looking into upgrading to the RT-AC1300UHP after reading about it in the threads and reviews.
Looks really promising. Wasn't sure if it was worth the upgrade tho.
RT-AC86U is a beast but way overbudget tho.
Thanks for the explanation and appreciate the recommendations. Cheers

as an ex rtn12hp like u, i assure u that u will be very happy with rtac1300uhp like what i am using now.

just make sure for wifi, yr devices can run 5ghz to get full 100mbps, even 110mbs.

if using 2.4ghz, u will get same like rtn12hp.

Yeah. Just bought one. Quite pricey tbh but as long as I don hav to deal with the unstable speeds currently with the rtn12hp.
Hopefully it can deliver. Especially when it comes to range and obstacles.
Looking forward to installing n using it.
*
yes, not cheap... but is the most affordable for its performance, imo.

also, if u r paying for 100mbps, better get max juice from it! biggrin.gif

unless yr hse has many walls and u need to cover >60ft radius, will be fine.

Hi,

I'm using RT-N12HP_B1 router for my 50mbps unifi. I don't have issue with LAN connection but on wireless my speed drop drastically to below 5mbps. The distant is 2-3 meter from the router. Is there setting do I need to do to improve my speed? I already update the firmware to 3.0.0.4.380_8228.
*
this router is good for 50mbps, full speed. even with older firmware.

if it doesn't do it, it is either hardware failure or something else is wrong...

check the usual suspects - wifi channel, move to a diff position, yr devices themselves...

can. even acrt1300uhp can.

except for the hidden blind corners.

or if yr house is 3 story or a very large and long double storey superduper link house, 40x100ft footprint.

use 5ghz for devices that are nearer to router, 2.4ghz for those further away.

3 storey house, good wifi... commercial tech is not there for it yet.

there is no simple, cheap effective solution.

either u go >100mbps, use extender, be happy to get 10-20% at furthest spots.

or go lan cable-AP to get full, like someone just affirmed:
