Thanks man.
I think a TP-Link C3150 v2 router + Asus USB AC55 adapter should work for me.

Definitely bro. My house is quite big as well and the C3150 v2 covers it well, even if it is located in an area far away from my living room.

Hey man, any idea where I can get it online? I think Lazada only has the version 1.

TP-Link not a good choice to me, firmware not well maintained, and featureless nothing much you can do compare to ASUS.
Home WiFi means to be trouble free, install and forget.

If you divide the cost of purchase of the router in 3 years (3 years) warranty. It will feel better.
Bro, my 2 cents.

The ASUS RT-AC1300UHP Avean recommended looks promising too.
I'll give it a thought before buying it.

Maybe I'm frustrated from the speed i'm getting from my current TMnet router. Wanna get the one that is right for my house. unsure.gif

Buy it from here:

I bought a lot from this seller and it is always reliable and no problems. This is v2 for sure. See here for review from bro Jjuggler:

That’s only true for their mid range models, and definitely NOT their high end models. I have been using this router for six months, without any problems, and their firmware is working well, plus this TP-Link C3150 v2 is cheaper than Asus, and have nearly all the same features, albeit not as good as Asus, but that’s to be expected. Thanks.

Just for my information, what are the differences between v1 and v2?
I could recognize the difference from the product description (and it didn't specify as v2 model).

Some slight hardware and firmware differences:

1) https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_C3150

2) https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_C3150_v2.x

Just buy from the seller on the link I gave to you and you will be fine. It is definitely v2.

Hi there fellow lowyat users!

I am currently using a Maxis Fibre 30mbps. My modem is set up in the storeroom at 1st floor of my house, and I hardly get stable wifi in my room up on the second floor. I'm getting 5 mbps on average, with occasional disconnections on a daily basis.

I am considering to buy a better router for better range and speed.
I am considering NETGEAR R6700 Nighthawk AC1750 Smart Dual Band WiFi Router (R6700). It’s quite popular overseas but I’m just concerned that it might not work in Malaysia. Should I be concern of anything?
Do kindly let me know if you have better suggestions on other routers!  cool2.gif
You guys rock. please help a brother out.

(I have attached my current set up).

why not consider a homeplug/powerline adaptor from either Aztech or TP Link?
Unit A will be at your 1st floor where your modem+router is, unit B will be at your 2nd floor.
No doubt Aztech don't have Wifi Option, if you buy the TP Link version with a wifi access point, that may work out better

just sharing my 2 cents =)

Sorry my bad, I got excited easily.

I tried 2 <RM100 wifi repeaters but with no avail, so I figured to switched out my old router. Im thinking a router <RM400.
May I further ask what's VoIP / IPTV?  hmm.gif
Netgear is just a brand I came across with good branding and reviews and it appealed to me.

Hi, Patrick here. If you want to have your house fully covered by wifi, (of course with the speed that you have subscribe, not only the strength of the wifi), I suggest you use AP mode. AP mode meaning you use LAN cable from your first router connect to the second router, example, if you your first router at ground floor, you might have to pull one LAN cable from ground floor to first floor, and then do some setting on the second router. Everytime you go to first floor, you might have to switch to the first floor router to get the speed you have subscribe. My customer at Cyberjaya got 100Mbps TIME.com, and he spent close to RM1000 to get his house (3 storey semi-D, ASUS router (AC-1300UHP as first router, second router use TP-Link, 3rd floor use ASUS router, all connected using LAN cable), and he is able to get almost 100Mbps at 3rd floor using wifi on the third router. He initially use repeater on second floor, but the speed dropped below 10Mbps.

From my experience, repeater would only extend the range of Wi-Fi, but you will lose out more than 50% of speed. The best solution for wifi without scarifying the speed is AP mode. You can contact me if you're interested, I'm specially doing wiring for electrical, network and security system.

Cheers.
