RT-AC55UHP, RT-AC58U and the RT-AC1300UHP too.

Thank you

alright, good to know.

just fyi, i am now not so sure if the rtac1300uhp can actually do 800mbps!

becos i now think the device i used to test was rated giga but looks like it maxed out at 650mbps.

the unifi guy came to test with his laptop and got 830 two unifi stock routers.

didn't test with the asus, can't say.

a question... if i use the rtac1300uhp as a repeater 5ghz, how much better can i expect it to do than the rtn12hp_b1 using dlink 842 as main router 800mbps?

Hi AVFAN,

You can use the RT-AC58U from the link below, it is compatible with RT-AC1300UHP.

https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/s/0...CE9F70FD61A392Y

Repeater using 5GHz is better that the RT-N12HP B1 in term of speed, in term of range, 2.4GHz are always better.

Thank you
*
thanks for response.

i was able to use set 12hp as repeater when using 1300uhp as main.

now... how do i set 1300uhp as repeater if i use dlink dir842 as main?

one is 192.168.0.1, the other 192.168.1.1.

can't do other way round as this 842.. looks like it doesn't have AP/repeater mode.

Connect Asus's WAN to Dlink's LAN port.. Using a PC (ideally..mobile browser also can), Enter UI page in the router. Under Advanced Settings, Click Administration -> Operation Mode..
*
how to access asus UI page?

192.168.1.1?

Nope, use a LAN analyzer to see what would be the IP of the router, and access it via the IP.

Download Fing from your desired app store, it will tell you the IP of the Asus router.

May need some trial and error.
*
ok, will try that, thanks.

a bit more work that the last time did asus to asus...

plugged asus WAN into Dlink LAN.

found the IP by just getting into Dlink page, clients.

but when i tried to access (via PC wifi) the asus with the ip, it returns an error... "refused to connect"

same result for both asus 1300uhp and 12hp.

used chrome, ie.

what may be incorrectly done?

i can't find this feature in Dlink dir842!

this router's UI is very very simple... too simple, few options.

wonder if it is UNIFI tailored...?

will recheck...

U mean remove the dlink, connect ausu, use the asus to do the repeater setting?

Then, put back dlink, asus work as repeater?

I did once successfully using 2 asus but kinda forgot how... biggrin.gif

Haven't personally witnessed it being done over Wi-Fi.. So I'm not sure if it can be done, But guessing you've tried and it didn't work.... unsure.gif  The Asus mobile app?

can't remember... biggrin.gif

but i think i cud access the 12hp's UI to change settings when cable connected to pc which is wifi connected to 1300uhp serving as main.

now, with the dlink as main, i can't.

in short, i can't access BOTH asus now that the Dlink is used as main.

summary... if anyone has any tip...

i am trying to use my rtac1300uhp as a repeater with dlink dir842 as main router.

i can't access the asus, whether using tablet or pc (wifi only).

what is the right connection(s), steps to get to the asus UI to change settings, set mode, etc...?

thank you for any help.

ASUSmy anything u can think of for above?

alright guys... after another run at it, success!

my pc is connected to the dlink (main router) via wifi.

the incorrect step was i kept trying it with the asus wan port connected to dlink lan port, failed to access the asus.

the correct step is to connect asus lan to the pc ethernet port.

with pc wifi active, get refreshed ip of the asus in dlink page client list.

use browser-ip, it goes to asus log in UI.

the rest is clear.

thanks for your help and comments.

must not forget how to do this again! biggrin.gif

After reading this, decided to make use of the rtn12hp as repeater today.

Reset the rtn12hp
Connected using LAN at rtn12hp Wan port to laptop
Laptop then connect to rtn12hp wifi
Open browser connect to Asus login
Setup as repeater then connect to working unifi WiFi connection
Setup different ssid name
Then proceed with usual screen by screen setup
Disconnect LAN cable and test
Worked well
*
slightly diff procedure due to diff set up... but as long as it works, ok! biggrin.gif

actually, i find this repeater thingy not really useful, generally speaking.

assuming a typical environment, comparing most spots at a distance 40-60 feet, direct 5ghz is still best, if the devices can do 5ghz. the repeater is not better.

very much the same with 2.4ghz.

the only scenario where a repeater is useful is at the worst possible hidden spots from main router.

for such spots, and i have one, the repeater on 2.4ghz is useful, does better.

just fyi, i updated the 1300uhp with this firmware RT-AC58U_9.0.0.4_380_8440-g782ed3e.

works fine.

is there another one coming up soon?

also, i have iced the dir842 as the wifi became unstable too often.

used 1300uhp as main, 12hp as repeater, more stable.

i have a no. of older devices, using 2.4ghz is good enough.

Hi guy, i just bought the AC1300uhp after reading review from Blacktubi   biggrin.gif , i am on unifi 300mb package.

Is it normal to get only 60 - 90mb download using 2.4g even i am just beside the router.
I understand that is hard to get full speed using 2.4g due to interference but just feel that 60 -90mb download seems a little too low, i manage to get higher speed using the stock router Tplink ac1200 that unifi provided.

Lan and 5g is manage to get full speed.
*
i am using same router, 800mbps.

yes, 2.4ghz wifi will not get u >100mbps; at >50ft, u will get at best 50mbps.

stock router gives about the same.

and correct too - use 5ghz as much as possible to get max wifi speed.

so, change out devices to new as u need!

ac1300uhp is better in that it is very stable, ethernet or wifi.

I called the Unifi people when they came and test they used their own DLINK router and it hit 800 mbps.

They said all my cables and hardware were already in place and that it was the router setting problem.

*
when they tested with their Dlink, got 800, what device was used? their laptop?

was same laptop and same test used with yr router... and u couldn't get 800?
