Hi ASUSmy

Hi ASUSmy

I am thinking of relocating the 87AC router to upper floor, where I use the PC with T4U adapter. 87AC router will become the Access Point, after configuration (AP mode.)

Questions:
Will 87AC router broadcast 5GHz AC mode, as Technicolor is only N mode 480Mbps design?

If yes, Internet service will be by Technicolor on ground floor, can AC87 provide internet service on upper floor?

If yes, at what internet & non-internet signals DESIGN speeds of AC87 will be broadcasting?

If all are "NO", then cannot relocate 87AC router as AP?

When Asus EA-87AC will be launched in Malaysia? Hardware at Show is seen!

Thanks. smile.gif

Dear ASUSmy,

I just bought a rt-ac66u. I tried to change the control channel for 5ghz network to other value other than 36, the configuration screen shows that it has been changed, but if i use wifi analyzer to check, it still running on channel 36. Is this normal?

Hope u could help me with this.

thanks.

Hi 99gloomy,

May I ask, in the System log -> Wireless log, what is the control channel show there when you changed to the value that you want?

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy

Please advise HOW to CLOSE off 2.4GHz (N mode) broadcast of 87AC router, so I can try to activate only 5GHz AC mode connection. If the router & USB adapter are in good working order and setup properly, with router/adapter sitting next to each other, These devices should work and I can check max practical/design 5GHz AC mode speeds.  smile.gif

Hi lau6311,

To off the 2.4GHz radio, you can go to Wireless -> Professional to do the setting.

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy, thanks.

I will reset the 2.4GHz radio from "YES" to "NO". Currently it is at "YES".

I noted that the 5GHz radio setting has be correctly set to "YES", means should activate 5GHz radio, when other things are in order. I will check system for consistancy of different SSID names used for each 2.4 & 5GHz. Just to be sure.

Hi ASUSmy

Without doing any resettings, the notebook can detect AC radio from 87 router, i.e. when clicking bottom right "wifi bar", without entering to router's bandwidth management software, it shows the AC radio detection under one of my SSIDname (for 5GHz).

When clicking to activate connection, it asked for 8-digit PIN password. I entered the passwords which I obtained from the bottom of the router, a message said: "Windows cannot get the setting from router".

I will investigate further (Windows setup), and if you also can offer some advice on router side.

At least, I know 87AC router is "working". smile.gif

Hi ASUSmy

An update after "play-play, set-set" with WPS, etc..The wifi analyzer can detect a working radio design 1733.4 Mbps with AC 5GHz signal, full signal strength 5-bar, notebook was working fine at sittng about 3m away from router on same level.

Detecting weak 1-3bar strength at 8 m/3 walls, sometimes dropped out, when at upper floor. sad.gif

Now it is the turn for the PC/T4U testing tonite.

Thanks to you for your good support. How about other good questions for you earlier, as applicable. smile.gif

Hi lau6311,

Yes, it will broadcast 2.4 and 5GHz together.

If you are changing the the RT-AC87U as AP, Technicolor will do the dialing. AC87U will have Internet access too.

As for the EA-AC87, not sure when it will be in Malaysia.

Thank you

Dear ASUSmy,

I have been trying for a couple days to connect the Yes GO 4G USB to the RT-AC68U but have not been successful.

If I connect the Yes GO dongle to my laptop, I can connect fine to the Yes network using the 'username' (without the "@yes.my") and password.

I tried different combinations 'username' only and 'username@yes.my' in the AC68U configuration and the password, but all didn't work.

I updated the firmware to the latest 3.0.0.4.378_3873.

The Network Map screen on the AC68U identifies the Yes GO dongle as "GCT Semiconductor, Inc. M-WiMAX Network Adaptor".

Hi ASUSmy,

The log still shows 36.

But I manage to find a work around, the wireless mode need to set to "Auto" (previously was at "N + AC"), then only the control channel can be changed successfully.

A bug in the firmware, I guess?

Hi ASUSmy

To configure 87ac as the AP, please indicate clearly of all required steps and settings for success. The upper floor 87ac cannot communicate with Technicolor located on the group floor. How to commucate by wifi method without a super long impractical ethernet wire, as a way to complete the loop of a good service support. Thanks.

On the previous querry:
Why am I not detecting 600Mbps 2.4GHz N mode radio, but 450Mbps (40MHz) and 216.7Mbps (20MHz) speed, using Acrylic wifi analyzer? Is it one of the 4 antenna system is faulty? 87ac router is designed for 1734 Mbps AC + 600Mbps N, right?

Just bought RT-N14UHP and already pissed off by this router on this message
"Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.
Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-N14UHP.
To access the settings of RT-N14UHP, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number."

Everytime the setup finished and quit router setting, when i try to connect to router setting again, the message pop out and I need to reset to factory setting again in order to connect to router setting. Both Wireless or Wired Cable give me the same problem when try to connect to router setting.

What is the problem exactly? Router Bug? I been configure myself many router from other brand, but only this RT-N14UHP, which i decided to give Asus a shot, now give me most headache. doh.gif

Hi tartputat & nigelkee,

You can refer to the link below but skip the parts that you need to tick "Special Requirement from ISP" and the LAN cable for IPTV.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESAPAJqWxH4

Select PPPoE then User Name Password then follow the step to finish the setup.

Thank you

Hi fishmango,

You can limit the bandwidth by IP/MAC address only. Unable to do it from WiFi. All the unit are the same

Thank you
