Er. what's with the merger of ITX thread and HTPC? Both are of 2 different things as explained above.

Here
I also feel that it's not fair for the mod to axe the thread just to suit his liking. There's a very valid reason for the ITX thread to be there.

Okay guys. Back to HTPC discussions. If you have anymore queries, don't hesitate to ask at the Frontdesk. Cheers.

I wonder if having a HTPC is more worth it or getting the WD Media TV Player?

imho a low power consuming HTPC better... then can watch every single format. can play any type of music files like flac etc.

and can also double up as a file server/ downloads PC.

Thank you.

For me i'm building a HTPC, but i think i want to go for the smallest size available...my ATOM rig is for BT.

Since Se7en not reply yet, i just wanna tell that mod BryanXXXX whatever his name is, ARE YOU SLEEPING NOW??

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/868175

The thread above about 4850. We have gazillion threads on ATI 4000 Series. Why aren't this close or merge elsewhere?? Mod is sleeping, or just choose to merge whatever suits his fancy...

but then again, he is only a probationary mod... tongue.gif

that minix with athlon processor's heatsink will make it almost imposibble to put into a mini-itx chassis

Good point. Is there smaller HSF for 4850e series? Or ,maybe the unreleased 3250e (22W) series? Anyway, i just checked mine....it just might clear though, with stock HSF...mine is the slightly bigger mini-itx casing which can accomodate 1 5.25" drive bay....anything smaller than this won't clear i suppose.

I think someone with better hardware knowledge should be the mod instead of him. doh.gif

Since a mini-ITX thread is not allowed, i guess we will have to discuss anything related to mini-ITX here, even if it doesn't have anything to do with HTPC. brows.gif

BTW, JW 780G mobo suitable for a mini-itx gaming rig?

Hi,
Want to get some suggestions.
Currently I want to setup a HTPC. Problem is wireless mouse is troublesome.
Any wireless keyboard integrate with mouse/touchpad to control the cursor?
Can recommend me a tv tuner card (hardware encoder) that can capture Astro? WinTV PVR-150MCE seems to be obsolete from market.
Thanks
*
ALL IT still has tons of it. I saw it in Digital Mall. I think LYP also has.

But generally, i would go for a better solution. Try to find one that can record straight to DIVX or MP4 to save storage space. I have the PVR-150MCE, which i dun use anymore (becoz i dismantle my HTPC). It use quite a lot of storage to store in MPEG-2 format.

I know he's not familiar, therefore we explained to him. However, he ignored our explanation and went straight to merge the thread. doh.gif

None of us here knows everything, therefore we are here to learn. I dun think it's appropriate for a moderator to have such arrogant attitude.

QUOTE(Matrix @ Dec 31 2008, 10:12 AM)
Recently i have been very sick of all the huge PCs and have been trying to downsize everything that i can get my hands on. I used to like huge casings, oversized coolers etc, but now no more...SMALL is the WORD!!

So i decided to start a thread with the following agenda, to discuss the following:

(1) Mini-itx mobo (or smaller!!!)
(2) Mini-itx casings/chasssis
(3) Mini-itx PSU (SFX size)
(3) SFF casing ( can join, but really, SFF casing is too big for me..)
(4) How u design ur mini-ITX system and the purpose.
(5) Review your own mini-itx system to share!
(6) Where to buy all these hard to find stuff and the price!!!
(7) Any latest news related to these gadgets!

It'll also touch a bit on HTPC, but there's already a thread for that, but i guess crosstopic mini-itx with HTPC is natural progression.

I'll start the ball rolling later with a review of my ATOM 330 system later (maybe tmrw, need to take some photos).

In the meantime, this is what i have done recently->

1) Dismantled my old ATHLON XP HTPC with a Small ATX casing (smaller than normal ATX, bigger than micro ATX)
Assembled an ATOM 330 for the following purpose:
    BT 24/7, Web surfing.

Specs: ATOM 330 (Intel 945 GLCF2) + IFICIAN mini-ITX casing + 2GB RAM + old 120GB IDE lying around + Logitech wireless kb/mouse lying  around. Spent about RM565 on it.

Next Project:

Want to build a new HTPC with the following:
1) AM2+ mini-itx mobo with 780G chipset
2) Low power (22W) AMD X2 3250e, not released yet.
3) Find even smaller casing, maybe have to use external power brick.
4) Find where to buy all these stuff....

Purpose:
1) Watch HD movies, RMVB movies
2) Use VISTA MCE as main player ( already got an MCE remote)
3) HDMI output to LCD TV
4) Optical output to HTIB for the surround sound.
5) Freaking small so that it can be put anywhere without looking like a box in front of the TV.

Here's a sample of such mobo which i intend to buy:

http://www.jwele.com/motherboard_detail.php?419

Does anyone have this? Please share where and the price u bought them.

I was also looking at small form PSU. Try this: MINI BOX

Some nice photos. Enjoy..smile.gif
