boonhoong, what processor?

mine will be
1. casing - not yet bought (not telling.....yet! haha)
2. psu - probably my Gigabyte Odin 550 GT but i think that's overkill. but that PSU is currently not used so it might just go there. either that or will be getting some other.
3. mobo - Albatron mini-ITX board, can't remember the name. with me already
4. processor - X2 3600+ (my old processor)
5. RAM - 512mb DDR2 sodimm (bought)
6. HDD - some old 10 - 20 GB HDD
7. DVD - ehh, no plans for it yet. probably the cheapest DVD drive i can find.

no GC cos motherboard no PCI-E slot. haha.

Actually, dun have to worry about HD video right now. Why? Blue Ray too expensive and will be for the next 3 to 4 years i foresee (coz no ahem..). By that time, you PC already obselete, so no worries.

But if you really want to know, my HTPC running on Athlon 1800+(@1.53Ghz i think), can easily decode 720p WMV file with no lag. However, frames will drop when it decodes 1080p file. So any new dual core CPU should be able to handle 1080p easily.....hey by that time who knows...maybe we're talking 2160p already...

Problem is a DVD player (read only) cost only around RM20 cheaper than the writer.

cheaper SFF casing (Inwin) will only set you back around RM270 and it comes with power supply already!

Yalah, because want to use RAIDlah.
