Hi Guyz, after doing some research over the net i have come to this decision. If you wan ur HTPC purely for movie, you choose either nvidia 8200 or nvidia 9200.
An onboard graphic is good enough to cater for your need.....from the research it is proven that 8200 can playback hi-def movie such as blu ray more smoothly compare to 780G. if you are up to some gaming you can choose 780G. Graphic in 780G is betta but video is betta in 8200/9200 series.
for the heat issue, some of the 780G do suffer this problem but is not all...
This is my recent built, it is pretty cheap but is more than enough.
AMD X2 5200 = RM 195 XFX nvidia 8200 = RM305 4GB ram = rm120 (ram is too cheap so decide to grab another 2 GB) Casing = rm150 (if you are building a HTPC go for small form factor) HDD = Free
if you see here it is pretty cheap to built a solid HTPC....

QUOTE(sharp56 @ Nov 17 2008, 10:24 PM) Can anyone recommend a graphic card with HDMI output which can channel 5.1 or 7.1 sound? I always thought that a 5.1 or 7.1 sound channel is provided by the sound card rather than a graphic card. Thanks for the pointer. there is a lot of card are providing it.... but honestly if you are using purely for movie there is no point to waste more money on the graphic that you don't utilize.... a onboard graphic card shud be sufficient for you....it has all wat you need

QUOTE(vey99 @ Jan 2 2009, 01:14 PM) Guys, I run WinXP MCE on AMD X2 3800+ with 1GB ram. Thinking of putting a BDROM player to watch shows. Want to ask (those who are using BDROM) 1) Can MCE support playback of Bluray disc, or do I need to run, say, PowerDVD? (now i can watch DVD via MCE) 2) Would the CPU utilisation be high? 3) I use the PVR150-MCE remote control. Any other remote can recommend, where to buy? Thanks. if i not mistaken MCE itself for this moment does not support Bluray....yes indeed PowerDVD and WinDVD is your choice here...
