QUOTE(vey99 @ Jan 2 2009, 01:14 PM) Guys, if i not mistaken MCE itself for this moment does not support Bluray....yes indeed PowerDVD and WinDVD is your choice here...I run WinXP MCE on AMD X2 3800+ with 1GB ram. Thinking of putting a BDROM player to watch shows. Want to ask (those who are using BDROM) 1) Can MCE support playback of Bluray disc, or do I need to run, say, PowerDVD? (now i can watch DVD via MCE) 2) Would the CPU utilisation be high? 3) I use the PVR150-MCE remote control. Any other remote can recommend, where to buy? Thanks. |

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Jan 2 2009, 06:27 PM) AFAIK, all tv cards with the logo Certified for Vista works well with vista media center. thx 4 de reply.. will try to search around tv card which suit my needs..not much shops in LYP sells htpc cases. allIT and sricomp has a few ugly ones. Silverstone/antec htpc overbudget already. the best is look for our forumer niclasteoh. HTPC cases niclasteoh xqbox all out of stock.. QUOTE(mADmAN @ Jan 2 2009, 07:26 PM) not exactly a HTPC case....more of an SFF but definitely suits ur budget and with good features.... ngbh sell most of xqbox sff case.. not suit to put in living room.. anyway, thx for de suggestion..go to the bulk orders section or garage sales and look for XQBOX. |

QUOTE(hypermax @ Jan 3 2009, 01:16 AM) Generally, but not all. Also, most people tend to build small HTPC with micro-ATX form factor, not mini-itx. Thank you for ur support again. Mini-itx was used mostly as download rig or car PC in the past (today also). However, with the invent of powerful chipsets with multimedia capabilities, its usage as HTPC is becoming more and more popular. Therefore, i strongly agree to create another thread solely dedicated for mini-itx. Was out for holiday the last week. No time to poke around here. Now i really don't bother anymore, sick of talking about this issue already. If it wasn't bryan who merge the thread, who the hell did?? Back to ur question: 780G. I suppose it makes a decent gaming platform, just don't expect too much from integrated GPU, no matter how u still need a discrete GPU for some serious gaming. But i guess older games could run fine. Even DOOM3 can run with high settings on a Nvidia 6200 + Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1024 x 768. Not too bad eh? Added on January 5, 2009, 9:11 pm QUOTE(kalakatu @ Jan 1 2009, 01:35 PM) guys, ive been googling all around, and i found a numerous setting on playing the MKV files.. How many % of cpu usage does the 1 core used? Maybe 1 core already enough? Anyway, i think the best is to decode with DXVA. I done this using the PowerDVD8 codec. It significantly reduce my CPU usage. Ex:, i've a 1080p of Wall-E...with PDVD codec CPU is as low as 4% and hardly ever exceed 10%. Without DXVA, it's about 20% or more.and i tried those settings, which results sometimes ok, sometimes worst than before basically im using a VLC to play them, but ive found that the integrated ffdshow does not utilize the dual core..so only 1 core is used, and thats a bit waste.. right now i am tweaking the Media Player Classic Home Cinema with CoreAVC so i hope u guys can share the most optimized setting here.. my hardware is like the following: Intel E7200 Biostar TP43-HP Gainward HD4850GS Kingston 2GBx2 Dell S2409W 24" 1920x1080 HD thx in advance and happy new year This post has been edited by Matrix: Jan 5 2009, 09:12 PM |

Check a few pages back for the guides I posted on how to turn on DXVA for MPC-HC. I don't think PowerDVD can do MKVs.

PowerDVD 8 i am not sure, but i use Windows Media Player/Media Centre. What i do is use a software to set the WMP/WMC codec to PDVD8 Cyberlink codec.Tested and proven can work. Err...why do you want to compare a HTPC and an LCD TV???? Doesn't make sense...At any rate, u can check the power wattage of the LCD from behind the panel. |

No need to do any tweaking. Just plug and play. It has nothing to do with ahem Vista...*ahem* *ahem*..i kinda suspect is due to the Vista i am using (ahem) before i go out to buy the Vista Home Premium ori i buy from ngbh. but these china brand, the quality was iffy, it died after 3 months. And i totally agree about china brand stuff...pay RM75 and risk buying dodgy product that die in a few months...might as well pay a little bit more to buy a branded one like Pinnacle...i think their remote retails for RM119 at ALLIT. Don't be pennywise and pound foolish. China brand product memang tak boleh. Maybe they put melamine inside MCE remote... This post has been edited by Matrix: Jan 6 2009, 03:08 PM |
