guys, ive been googling all around, and i found a numerous setting on playing the MKV files..
and i tried those settings, which results sometimes ok, sometimes worst than before.

basically im using a VLC to play them, but ive found that the integrated ffdshow does not utilize the dual core..
right now i am tweaking the Media Player Classic Home Cinema with CoreAVC rclxub.gif

so i hope u guys can share the most optimized setting here..
my hardware is like the following:

Intel E7200
Biostar TP43-HP
Gainward HD4850GS
Kingston 2GBx2
Dell S2409W 24" 1920x1080 HD

thx in advance and happy new year smile.gif

bought it from one of the kawans.. the price same as retail BD-rom so just grab it.. cos it's OEM unit.

retail BD roms should be going for 400-600 I think... in SG.. got..

i just downloaded the Media Player Classic Home Cinema and Cyberlink PowerDVD 8..
looks like finally both cores are utilized, rather than using vlc last time, which made my 1 core left idle biggrin.gif

Guys,

I run WinXP MCE on AMD X2 3800+ with 1GB ram.
Thinking of putting a BDROM player to watch shows.

Want to ask (those who are using BDROM)
1) Can MCE support playback of Bluray disc, or do I need to run, say, PowerDVD? (now i can watch DVD via MCE)
2) Would the CPU utilisation be high?

3) I use the PVR150-MCE remote control. Any other remote can recommend, where to buy?

Thanks.

AFAIK, all tv cards with the logo Certified for Vista works well with vista media center.

not much shops in LYP sells htpc cases. allIT and sricomp has a few ugly ones. Silverstone/antec htpc overbudget already. the best is look for our forumer niclasteoh. HTPC cases

go to the bulk orders section or garage sales and look for XQBOX.

Thank you.

For me i'm building a HTPC, but i think i want to go for the smallest size available...my ATOM rig is for BT.

Since Se7en not reply yet, i just wanna tell that mod BryanXXXX whatever his name is, ARE YOU SLEEPING NOW??

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/868175

The thread above about 4850. We have gazillion threads on ATI 4000 Series. Why aren't this close or merge elsewhere?? Mod is sleeping, or just choose to merge whatever suits his fancy...

but then again, he is only a probationary mod... tongue.gif

Good point. Is there smaller HSF for 4850e series? Or ,maybe the unreleased 3250e (22W) series? Anyway, i just checked mine....it just might clear though, with stock HSF...mine is the slightly bigger mini-itx casing which can accomodate 1 5.25" drive bay....anything smaller than this won't clear i suppose.

Yeah i was sleeping. I need sleep yanno, i dont survive off batteries. Well coffee does the trick smile.gif

I have in mind to move all fan club threads and all talks like such, because it is more of an Q&A, to hardware Q&A. What say you? Since, it is abusing the post count system.

Well, as long as I see it, i will investigate, alternatively, hit the report button and the mods of hardware will take action if neccessary if you feel the thread needs to be looked at.

Anyway, it wasnt me who merged the threads. But then again, HTPC generally refers to a small little thing of a pc.

Generally, but not all. Also, most people tend to build small HTPC with micro-ATX form factor, not mini-itx.

Mini-itx was used mostly as download rig or car PC in the past (today also). However, with the invent of powerful chipsets with multimedia capabilities, its usage as HTPC is becoming more and more popular.

Therefore, i strongly agree to create another thread solely dedicated for mini-itx.
