Audio-Technica—Audio pioneer in high-performance sound design

Established in 1962, Audio-Technica is a worldwide group of companies devoted to the design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of problem-solving audio equipment. Initially known for state-of-the-art phonograph cartridges, A-T now creates high-performance microphones, headphones, wireless systems, mixers and electronic products for home and professional use.

Winner of numerous industry awards, Audio-Technica manufactures products that set quality, durability and price/performance standards for live sound tours, broadcast and recording studios, corporate and government facilities, house-of-worship venues, and more. A-T microphones are chosen for critical government installations such as the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. Audio-Technica microphones and wireless systems are also selected for major broadcast music events, including the GRAMMY® Awards and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.

Audio-Technica products have provided seamless audio coverage and technical support in U.S. presidential debates since 1988. A-T mics also deliver versatile solutions at high-profile sports broadcasts, including World Cup Soccer, the Super Bowl, and the Commonwealth Games, as well as the Summer Games in Athens (2004), Sydney (2000), and Atlanta (1996), and the Winter Games in Torino (2006) and Salt Lake City (2002).

Audio-Technica Corporation in Japan, in addition to offering a wide range of products under its own brand, is a leading OEM supplier of audio transducers, optical sensors and a variety of specialty devices. Audio-Technica U.S., Inc. markets and distributes A-T products throughout the Western Hemisphere. With other operating companies in Europe, Singapore and Hong Kong, Audio-Technica today is a global leader in its field, committed to providing superior performance and exceptional value for customers around the world.

For the price point, you won't be disappointed. Tried my friend's M30, I think is a little inferior to the M35, sounds quite good also.

That's a Beats in your avatar, so I supposed you are a basshead? Then Pro700MK2 might suit you better, the bass will blow you off once it's been fully burned-in. As for M50 is a more all-rounder headphone with sufficient bass.

Yeah, will be getting the Pro700MK2 then. Tomorrow will go test the headphone @ Jaben. If perfect, will get it smile.gif

By the ways, is it ok for me use the Pro700MK2 in public area? wink.gif doh.gif

haha.. Didn't know ATH AD700 is actually a steal in past few days PC fair.
I was reconsidering whether to grab it or not for hours there. Those good patience staffs are so nicely waiting for my final decision.
(the purple color is kinda outstanding for my taste.)

Somehow, it seems selling alot cheaper in US, right?

Overall it seems Good in listening music to me after i watched a few reviews talking bout it is best suit for gaming experience.

Had been driving with Yuin PK2 and IEM for years.
A chance to get back into a headphone for wider soundstage experience.

Is this headphone need some burning process? I found it sound great only i increase the volume. Else the vocals seems kind of 'laid-back'.

p/s: PK2 still seriously impressive than a full-can headphone.. GOSH!

No issue on sound leak, but then you can't really hear the sound at your surrounding as well.

Btw, while waiting for my CK100 to reach me, I'm going to share some photos of my Pro700MK2 after changing to M50's earpads. icon_idea.gif

Bro Akabane, can edit my ownership on AT product? Add FW44 ,CKM500 and CKS99 into my name. I really enjoy CKM500 for leisure listening and CKS99 for bass pleasure. FW44 in burn in process, just came back from vacation. biggrin.gif

No issue on sound leak, but then you can't really hear the sound at your surrounding as well.

Btw, while waiting for my CK100 to reach me, I'm going to share some photos of my Pro700MK2 after changing to M50's earpads.  icon_idea.gif

After changing the earpads, Pro700MK2 is thousand times more comfy to wear and the bass is even  drool.gif  drool.gif

driver is almost the same as my ad900... hmm no wonder it can produce such awesome bass?

there are people calling ad700 bass monsters too after some mods wink.gif

Yep, my Pro700MK2 was very clampy and tight too when I first got it. And the tightness is not that easy to be loosen as the metal in the headband is very stiff. It didn't do much effect eventhough I used to place it on a tissue box whenever I was not using.

One more thing is the earpads being not thick enough and the pressure is all on the ears. So the best solution is change the earpad since you don't want to loosen the headband tightness. Btw, I've seen people bent the headband just to make it more comfy to wear. sweat.gif

Why don't you try asking Jaben whether they can order for you? Or you can straight order from Amazon or any other websites.

Same here, I only use the headphone for certain genres of music, e.g. techno, dance, trance etc etc in which the beats play an important part. I spend almost all my time with W1000. cool.gif

proud owner of AD700!

bought it for RM415 during the PC Fair. Can't let a good deal go just like that. agree that outside they are $100 only (amazon), but I still got them for that price. don't want to deal with customs, extra cost, etc

i don't see myself listening with these much any way. probably on live recording only. i have T50RP for that job

using these for gaming and movies mainly

I don't mind the sound leaks. This is one of the reason to get it LOL

i just take out my earpads from the ad900 for cleaning, i found there is a lot of dust sticking on membrane of the driver. advice me the best way to clean the dust on the membrane without damaging it.
BTW, there is the metallic grill with holes protecting the membrane.
which way is the best to clean it:
1. use a very soft painting brush
2. use air blower that use to clean camera lens
thanks in advance

the DIY repaint is not as easy as you think though haha

granted, i'm on an ad900 and it is a bit easier than the ad700 smile.gif (i've opened up my can before due to polish product spill into the grill/foam rclxub.gif )

best if you auditioned them first.

i cant comment on 1/2 because never auditioned the pro500mk2 myself, and supposedly the m50s limited edition sounds different than standard m50

3 on the other hand, have really damn strong bass and to some, may be a bit overbearing.

best to use 1, however no matter which method you take, treat it with extra auction

problem with 2 is that you may accidentally apply too much air pressure and damage the membrane, where as 1 it should be some what safer.
however for dirt/dust that can't be reached using a soft brush, you may attempt to use the blower to blower indirectly (like from the side) instead of directly towards the driver membrane

if shit happens to your package and you under declare, insurance will only compensate based on what you declare

if you got caught on under declare/wrong declaration by customs (eg: its a bomb and you declare it being a toy), you may be charged for criminal offense that is a few k in fine, jail term, or both smile.gif

but yea sure you can declare whatever you want so long the seller is willing to do it smile.gif

Aww crap...so my stuff is going to cost about $200. Then I have to ready another $20 for customs...sigh...

Also, I heard that depending the type of item, you will get extra charge. One example is that computer parts are excluded.
So I'm bringging in a DAC & AMP combo, how do I not make it be charged more than he 10% mentioned before?

@sheenho, I went to Jaben yesterday and tested out the Pro700Mk2, it did not sounded that good. I felt the M50 was way better.

But again its weird to carry the M50 to public right? Feel so awkward. Haha tongue.gif

At last I bought Beats Mixr which sounded way better than both of those and also it suited my need. Each person has their own personal hearing I guess. So yeah nod.gif

it says 4000yen waived...if less than that, the shipment will be free.

do you think shipping 2 of this will be more than 4000yen? youre starting to make me worry a bit.

http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/westmus.../4961310805834/

1840 * 0.040 = 73.6
jpn GST is 5% iinm (you're doing domestic shipping, you will be taxed as a normal japanese would be taxed)

rm77.28
*2
=154.56

then add service fee:
http://www.tenso.com/en/guide/fee/index.html

assume its 490 yen la (since they are pretty light, although to bear in mind weight would include your shipping buffer/box itself ya)
* 0.040 = 19.6

total = 174.16
it's well under rm500, so shouldn't worry about tax smile.gif

wow, so detailed. Thanks for the great calculations.

A seller here offers RM160 for 1 unit. holy that was not worthy for a proper headphone hanger.

if there is a thanks button here I would already pressed 4 times for 4 days.

Hey guys, I was an owner of the cks55 and was wondering if you guys have any other recommendation for an earphone from AudioTechnica with decent outputs around the price of the cks55.

Not sure if this helps but I mostly listen to songs with strong bass smile.gif

Thanks in advance and have a nice day guys biggrin.gif

I think they will recommend you the CKS77, although the price is much more higher. From what i have known, the CKS77 uses a completely different driver with CKS55, therefore the sound is completely different.

BTW, i'm an owner of CKS55 too! =D
Really like the strong going bass[not too boomy] and it goes well with my new MZX606!

Hey man, MY A700 had the same problem as well but not as bad as yours.

Already replaced the pads at AT centre in SG. Costs total of SGD36 for both sides. But the pads are the same type as the original ones, not the A700X types which is more towards the leather.

If you have chance, try listening to the CKS99 or CKS1000. I'm a proud owner of CKS99, I really like them a lot! The bass is controlled and powerful, without interfering the mids and spacious sound too. biggrin.gif

you need either a sound card or DAC, else how you want to plug in your headphone?

amp optional, however most, if not all of AT's cans are low impedance which does not require an amp. however amp will drive most AT cans better especially the bass side.

regardless of your decisions, do audition what amp (and soundcard or DAC if possible) before you buy. for example, some amps may alter the sound signature worse, or just not what you personally prefer.

owner of ep700 here, just a beginner in this audiophile world,so might start with an entry level cans.

however I cant give review about this headphone, coz I dont have an ample perspective about the industry. It is quite comparable with the grado sr80i/alessandro ms1i,same price range and both are open back portable.
Just like I said,I cant review this coz I cant compare it with any other headphone on the same level such as the sr80i.

peace out.

ATH A900x user here !!!!!!!!!! Here the short review for A900x

Sound
-Want to say more??? A900x is one of the most balanced headphone around the price range in the market.
-Very clean, detail and accurate.
-Sound stage is very wide if consider A900x as closed headphone.
- Mids are amazing, they sound alive and forward !!! The mids will not recessed like the same price range headphone, Beyerdynamic DT770 pro and even far more expensive headphone, Denon D2000.
- Highs are sparkly, not peircing.
- Bass is not boosted but well controlled. However, basshead will not be satisfied with the quantity and quality of the bass.

Comfort
-one sentence, it's bad fit for small head.

build quality
- very plastic feel.

...................................................
[Overall]
Pros
+ All rounder headphone.
+ Excellent audio quality
+ Feels light to wear

Cons
- Quite large, and definitely not very portable.
- If you have small head, you will hate the design.
- Not for basshead.

So many ATH-A900X. I freaking love this headphone after nearly 80 hours on it.

Agreed! It's perfect for vocal fans and instrumental musics. I'm a new age music listener. Paired it up with UD100 DAC by chchyong89.
The bass is deep enough for me. Muche better than other open back headphones I've ever tried. Instrument sounds are clearly defined, so much clarity. Vocal sounds so lively esp on high notes and does not hurt your ears. Mids more pronounced. Just Wow!
Soundstage is huge, good for positional audio, boomier bass in games as a direct comparison with Razer Chimaera.
Ear pads are not made of that common shiny pleather. Maybe it can last longer with this kind of material? Even I've got a big head, it still touches my jaw line just to say how huge the headphone is. It does not score full marks in comfort department however it still is the most comfortable headphone/headset I've ever wear. Maybe tying up the 3D wings together with a rubber band will solve the problem? Uncomfortable pressure still can be felt on the side of my head after wearing it for long hours. Isolation is good enough - hardly can hear outside noise when on music, music off still not so isolated well.

tie it properly and there is no mess. no risk of re-cabling (potentially downgrade the sound quality, or worst case even ruin the headphone) and definitely much lower cost

Wa, 2-4k yen for delivery to Malaysia would be really cheap.

ATH-A900x only RM520 after delivery... shocking.gif

rough estimate though, if the box buffer/box turns out huge, could be more expensive.

but yea, it IS a ton cheaper than getting locally.
however do remember, if shit happens, you need to send back to japan yourself, bear shipping of both ways.

and again, that price is assuming no tax.

If you considering sales and import tax, after sales service and warranty claim (shipping back/forth charges), there is no way to sell ATH-A900X for RM520 sweat.gif

Yes, its possible If you dont really care about tax or warranty claim, then go with Amazon.

P/S - Audio-Technica Malaysia does not cover warranty product from Amazon

They said it has the same driver as the M50 though. Only difference would be the colour.

Hmmm friend is going to Japan next week. Maybe I should ask to buy something there but what is a true upgrade for ATH-A700 which I'm using now.

I thought of A900x at first but seems to just 1 step up and the difference not that wide. And is it true higher tier headphones needs a good amp for it to shine? I mean for Audio Technica, it seems all are easily driven.

if you dont have a requirement for closed cans or prefer closed over open cans, ad900/ad900x
for ad series, ad900 is a huge step up over ad700 because ad700 no f***ing bass.

and despite AT's overall low impedance headphones, having an amp does make a huge difference, more so on the bass smile.gif

Thanks. I've actually seen that thread & the convoluted gov website and both shows 10% sales tax only. The only thing I was trying to clarify was if anyone had ever get taxed any higher because my friend got taxed 30% (10% + 20% import). But thanks anyway.

so far i've no experience in getting taxed higher than 10%, however if you want a surest answer and an estimation of cost then it's best to refer to the official charts/listings by our customs department

if you dont have a requirement for closed cans or prefer closed over open cans, ad900/ad900x
for ad series, ad900 is a huge step up over ad700 because ad700 no f***ing bass.

and despite AT's overall low impedance headphones, having an amp does make a huge difference, more so on the bass smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestion. Decided not to buy anything to expensive.

Just requested friend to buy a pair of JVC headphones thats all the rage. Hope can find it in the shops there.

If you on lookout for IEM, the ATH-CKM500 is promising indeed. Still own them in fact, have special voice that just go well with jazz. Should be around RM200 I think, or maybe a little bit more.

Not too sure about E10, from my experience with E10, they tend to get loose on the bass, not perfect pairing I would say. But that's just my opinion, take it with a grain of sugar, haven't heard the AD900X paired with E10. Nor the AD900X, kinda eager to find out how they sound.

majority of AT full sized cans (especially the 53mm drivers size, in which both w5k, ad900, ad900x are all using the same size) have similar/same sizes for their ear pads.

method is available on my website/youtube video:

My ODAC arrived today, now I understand why my ATH-CKS99 is called Solid Bass. It seem my D12 helping masking the bass a little bit to be more polite, while the ODAC present me truthfully what my IEM is made of. D12 Wolfson based DAC is more musical type, giving a little bit of coloration, which is just nice, while ODAC Sabre based DAC present technicality with little to no coloration. Maybe I'm using Wolfson based DAC for far too long, I'm still thinking about the coloration (my portable player also Wolfson based, the Teclast T51). Nevertheless, I'm enjoying my ODAC as well, giving me technicality that I never thought I'm able to acquire.

what would be a good choice in your experience? i have a friend who's going to the US and can really get some of these DACs for cheap. probably at around the same price level of an e10 or e07k andes max. it'll be my first DAC, so i'm not overly concerned or have discerning ears (yet) tongue.gif

I think with AT headphones amp become less important right. Since they can be driven easily. I'm also super junior... never owned a DAC / amp before.

My friend will also be getting one for her AD700 and Sennheiser P100 and I go recommend her E10 / 07K based on Amazon reviews. Luckily haven't ordered yet smile.gif

I think for the both of us the purpose will be more to open up the bass. Any other advantage would be welcome, of course smile.gif

I have never tried the e07 before but personally for me, the bass boost on the e10 is not that good, might just be me thou, but the bass sounds muddy and covers the other sounds abit, so I don't really use the bass boost(not a bass lover to begin with).

The e10 is nice and all, thou it is for computer use only(usb), as in you can't hook it up to your iphone. The e07k is portable and is able to connect to the iphone if you want a portal amp.

From my experience with E10, the bass boost is better left alone. E07k is a good entry level DAC/amp, though power wise, its weaker than E10. At least the DAC section and the amp section is better than the previous E7, and have eq setting as well. smile.gif

yes and no.

take AT AD series for example, their bass are piss poor, especially ad700 as it is the beginning of the ad sound signature while anything lower than 700 will be more of a mainstream sound signature.

without amp and ear pad mods the ad 700/900 will be damn weak on bass, ad1000 is well, not too much different with ad900, and ad1000prm... what bass? lol (its a direct opposite of ad2000 where it is treble/bright biased)

the bass and the kind of "enveloping" sound that i was looking for, very hard to describe. say there is a full orchestra playing, and the sound is not necessarily overpowering, but kinda surrounds or "envelopes" you in it.

just got my AD900x today and I have to say its really good xD!!! I don't hear any lack of bass like others may have stated, I felt like the bass was really tight and punchy and it's still not burned in so I can't wait to burn it in.

anything better than the m50 for monitoring would be the wooden closed can series. (which are also AT's flagship lineup)

Wohoo, my WS99 arrived! See the back of the box, made in China, kinda sad with that fact. Anyway, out of the box impression, no way! This thing is basically my CKS99 headphone version, awesome! With proper burn in, I bet this guy gonna sound incredible, just like how CKS99 grew up to be my favourite IEM! This thing look gorgeous, will post the photos soon after I finish enjoying my phones. xD

In the meantime, I let the head-fi.org hype train link for WS99 first here. My impression is not great at all, but I'll do my best once I think the sound signature stable itself.

sorry to change topic, but has anyone played around with removing the back foam pads in the AD series? (the foam pads BEHIND the drivers)

well, i did. I lived for a long time with the foam pads removed from my AD700.

Result? they sounded much livelier with a more aggressive sound, slightly crunchy, make it sound slightly closer to grado headphones.

earlier tonight i put them back in, and I have to say, i prefer them with the pads on. it's finer and sharper. the difference isn't huge though.

just my two cents for people who might be interested to try. smile.gif

be careful when modding your ad700 though, i know they're cheap, but one of the screws in my set got so rusted that it became really difficult to unscrew. happy modding!

So, I'm back. What can I say about WS99? Its just how a basshead cans supposed to sound like, this is how the PRO series supposed to sound like. Balanced with a chameleon type bass, won't be there until the song call for it. When the bass is unleash, the best part is the bass is like running around your head, forgive my lack of better word. Detailed and the fastest bass I've ever heard. But, for one that looking for pure impact, I guess something like BeyerDynamic DT770 AE or VModa M100 or ATH-PRO line series is better. This one got impact, but can sound quite polite for the extreme basshead. For me, its a perfect all-rounder, no genre really sound way off yet with this.

Hi, I just bought SJ55 & I'm pretty pleased with with the SQ on my ipod.

I'm thinking of getting M50 for my sound editing work to replace my sony mdr-v500dj. My only concern is that my sony clamped my head too tightly & it hurts after 30mins or more even after a owned it for over a year, it hasn't loosen.

Does the M50 have similar issue?

while i don't personally own it, i've heard of similar issues and the owners said that it'll loosen over time. that, or they can just bend the headband a little to hasten the loosening.

I face this issue when I was first using it.
But not 30 minutes la, maybe 1 hour or so.
After using it for 2 months or so, it's much better... can use for hours without any headache.

I face this issue when I was first using it.
But not 30 minutes la, maybe 1 hour or so.
After using it for 2 months or so, it's much better... can use for hours without any headache.

IEMs are still a lot comfier though IMO.

Thanks!

I would love to use IEM if it wasn't for my tiny ear hole.

Hi guys, I received some recommendations from the "recommendation thread" and I have made some research myself. I am now torn between AT M30/35, T500 and AD300 so I now look here for tips to help me decide.

My main usage of the headphones will be mainly music and movies with little gaming. (I saw some old replies here in LYN mentioning such usages are more suitable with AD300 instead of monitoring series like M30). I also wish to have my headphone to produce crisp detailed sound and provide adequate noise isolation.

Thanks in advance all.

Well I do require adequate noise isolation I guess as my surroundings can get noisy at times.

And thanks joshuachew for the kind response, would you kindly shed some light on newbies like me why M30 is better as I have read some great reviews on both T500 and AD300 as well.

if you're worried about outside noise, lets just say that unless you're very nitpicking or having rather high standards in your audio (in which i would question your budget instead), chances are once you turn up the volume just a lil bit and you'd be rather deaf on whatever the outside world has to throw at you (of course there are some exceptions, like your building having explosions?)

The thing is, I simply don't enjoy the idea of pumping up the volume just to cover up the surrounding noises, wouldn't this impact one's hearing in the long run?

The point of isolation is to isolate yourself from the outside noises. Not to drown it out, some people listens at very low volumes so they wouldn't want to buy headphones just to pump up volumes to their uncomfortable levels. All in all even with volume up in a noisy environment if your listening analytically your definitely going to pick up background noise because open cans are just that way.

if noise isolation is so critical, T/AD should never have been in the picture for consideration; Hence back to my question again:

He said he was a newbie and people gave him those suggestions. He doesn't know as much as you do. Only thing he didn't do was do a little more research. Also I don't think he has ever had an open can so he asked here to see if other people had open cans and can let them know their experiences.

Thanks for all the tips guys. siles1991 was right in a way that this is actually my first purchase of a "slightly" expensive headphone as over the years I've been using those unbranded cans.

Anyway I do realize that AD300, being an open can itself does leak sound. I was just hoping it to provide at least some amount of noise isolation as I read from some reviews that it excels over T500 and M35, losing out only on bass which I don't really need btw.

In general, open headphone have less noise isolation compare to closed headphone. AD300 has very poor noise isolation since it is open back headphone, M35 and T500 is better in noise isolation. I think you confused it with the sound quality factor.

My mistake, I should've made my point clear in the previous post. I meant I read from some reviews AD300 excels over T500 and M35 in terms of sound quality, such as more crisp/detailed sound and wider/better sound stage.

I guess I was just hoping for a "noise isolation" version of AD300 or hoping for someone to tell me that AD300 still isolate sound adequately despite its "open can" nature where obviously wasn't the case here.

And since y'all are saying AD300 is REALLY bad on noise isolation, I think I have no choice but to go with M35. smile.gif Thanks again guys.

I've been using my AD700 for a year and a half now smile.gif really my main headphones for music on laptop, electronic keyboard, and gaming.

Just wonder if an external DAC/AMP will help on my headphone? Or should I just invest in my next one? AD900?

I own the PRO500MK2 and seriously i love it since the day one. The reason i chose it over the M50 initially was because of the detactable cable, but then when i have to chance to compare it to M50, i found out the sound sig fits me better than the M50 too!

And regarding the clamping force, i'll say it depends. For my head, the force is quite gentle[i didnt stretch it though] and it hurts less than my FC707. So i'll say you have to compare the clamping force with a real M50 side by side.

Good luck finding your perfect headphone! =)

Yup, EXACTLY. i actually went to Ikano power centre (IPC) Harvey Norman to test out most of the mid-range budget audio technica. well, personally im not an audiophile and i listen more to pop/trance/current songs which more emphasize on bass to me. Don't get me wrong, M50 still a very good pair of headphone but it's a bit expensive for me as a student. Amazon having promotion only USD100 but the shipping cost + tax (maybe) will be around rm470. and i found pro500mk2 rm390 with 1 year local warranty. Hehehehe can't wait to receive mine.

You would be better off with a monitoring headphone so that it can give you more accurate tracking in games and stuff like that. But maybe if it permits, buy a gaming headphone and buy an audio headphone for music.

If you are going for multimedia use such as gaming, music and movie, AD300 will dominate T500 and M35, however be aware, AD300 basically has no noise isolation and it is a discontinued product (If you can find old stock).

M30 and M35 are monitoring headphone, expected treble and bottom cut due to specification require by sound engineer, personally i will recommend ATH Pro5mkII for more all rounder use.

im not so sure about the certs/stickers
but as usual u can find the instruction manual inside the box both jap/eng on a single manual
while it is good to be safe, i dare say that there will be no fakes in the headphone that you are currently looking for thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

For the pricing ..

Around RM 1300 - RM 1500 .. after 15% tax maybe RM 1500 - RM 1700 .. however, good a lot fake news for ESW and ATH50 models .. so, I'm quite afraid liao ..  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

you can try bending the headband
put the headphone in ur case with something soft between the earpads to not let them crushed
then put a few rubber bands between the R and L joints and leave it for few hours
worked for me rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

you dont have to put it on while having the rubberbands intact
just leave it as it is with something soft between the 2 earpads to prevent crushing

Since that you are in ATH thread, i'm going to recommend you the CKM500, or top up a lil bit, get CKS55.

I really love the CKS55, especially after testing the Klipsch Image S4 from my friend[which has a really V shaped SQ]

Congrats on the purchase, agreed that the wood finishing is quite impressive on AT cans, especially on the latest W3000ANV version which bears the resemblance to the Fostex TH900 lacquer urushi style

Thanks for the tips. Yup, I'm using the lemon oil to keep it beauty. Really like the female vocal in this, but somehow its kinda different compared to ESW9. ESW9 is more, tube-like?

Is there a recommended online seller or malaysian retailer for earpads? Just got myself a pro500mk2 from singapore to replace my AD300. AD300 has broken earpads and top pads on head but I do plan to change those out.

Currently listening to my ATH-AD300 headphones right here, the first ever headphone that got me into this audiophile business. Right now I've given it to my father, and currently I possess the DT880 250Ohm Pro's.

Both AT and Beyerdynamic have similar sound signature, and these headphones have hammered my preference for a bright sound, which makes me hurl if I encounter a dark sound signature.

The Air Dynamic line of professional headphones, to this day, still looks the most appealing to me. I remember seeing the ATH-AD2000s on the shelf in Jaben(where I got into this whole audiophile business) and wondered how would that just look on my head.

The ATH-AD300s are still working fine(except for the screwed up TRS connector which makes it hard to have contact with the pins on the jack, but a bit of fiddling around fixes that) and to be honest, still sounds capable even after all the other headphones I have ever tried. Of course this is based on the price. It's hard to find a replacement for the same price. This headphone is just a gem.

will be coming soon biggrin.gif
but since the size is quite same with ON3 and compare to ON3, ON3's noise isolation seems to be better than EW9..
so my hypothesis listening to EW9 wont harm much.. just need extra careful, and eye need to be extra alert to side mirror..
real result I will give later.. cool.gif cool.gif

Greetings.

Can somebody elaborate the pros n cons of ws55 over sj55. The price difference only rm45 online. Not much review on ws55. Thinking to get either one as portable cans replacing my akg k420 n portapro. Mostly my music genre is rock/metal and sometimes pop n classical. Thanks

to be honest, it isn't as ideal as it was with the AD900, as the driver is angled, the smooth mids is no longer pronounced and the peak just doesn't really do much on the mids. (in fact i did mentioned my disappointment towards the new AD x series numerous times in this very thread as well)

the ALO audio RX mk3 is still a better pairing especially with the adjustable bass to suit your need except the price in comparison to a ad900x is just a bit nonsensical if you ask me

for that final decision, i'd still recommend if you can audition it first prior to deciding on any route smile.gif
if you do go for the peak, look up LYN sales for used one, as brand new original price non jaben bundle is just not worth it wink.gif

not sure if i can remember every single amp i've tried with the ad900.

for the 900x however, i've only tried with the peak + alo audio since these are the ones i'm confident with my ad900 with the assumption that the ad900x will be very similar to the non-x, and boy was i so wrong on that lol.

I just bought it few days ago.

Turn on volumn level suitable/comfort for my ear (not very loud).. but people sit next to me able to hear the music out from it....

So far heard HD650, T90, T1 (and AD700 tongue.gif ). I would say sound separation still not same league with T90 but female vocal wise is unbeatable wub.gif

Grats bro!

Haven't listened to AD series for awhile, kinda miss the airy signature.
Who's willing to lend me at least an AD900 for a week or two? laugh.gif
Kinda have had too much of W1000 all this while. sweat.gif

PS: It's been awhile since the last gath in Penang. Looking forward to one. thumbup.gif

Just bought ad-900x at Jaben. At first intend to buy ath-m50 but no stock. Try Sennheiser hd598 to much bass. Ad-900x is more detail & clear with reasonable bass for my taste. After all headphone is more individual taste.

Where you bought the ad-1000x and how much?

just bought a 6 month used ath-m50 at rm400 approx.

i found it good enough when listening from xperia z directly but it way better when driven by fiio e12.

i really prefer the m50 over se215, momentum on ear, akg k450 etc for portable use. it has a very musical feel. the only thing i would complain about is the soundstage.

i still prefer my akg q701 for home use though, it has this listening through real speaker feeling rather than a pair of headphones

AD2000X is Made in Japan if I'm not mistaken. Just need a chance to listen to it and convince my head it is worth the price.

it depends on value. under rm500 (including shipping cost) then no tax.

anything over rm500 got chance to get taxed (customs don't screen through everything thoroughly)
