Imaging and layering is very good for iem class almost as good as open back headphone. Slow songs mixed with high note ambient instruments like flute, woodwinds is projected with horizontal and vertical imaging that goes a little beyond the iem housing. If you have tried an open back phone you get what i mean.

Midrange is not recessed or dominating just realistic sounding as the way they should be. You get good sub bass quantity without muddying the airiness and sparkle of the high notes. It will extend very healthily to around 25hz before the roll off begins. Tested with tone generator.

Diyer will rejoice with this iem as you could really alter their sonic signature (brighter or tamer depends where is your starting point though) by using fixed or variable impedance output adaptor. Read up the full range comparo review of IM series at headfi you will understand.

Hi guys, just wondering if any ATH-M50 users here have any experience with pairing a DAC/Amp with their M50s? Is there a noticeable sound improvement or are the M50s at their fullest potential already even without any DAC/Amp?

yesterday went to harvery norman the curve. saw ATH-IM50 and ATH M50x swapped price label. so m50x became rm268 while ath im50 rm698.

with the impending GST and things will be a lot more difficult with customs, i think i will be pulling the trigger on the AD2000x with a leap of faith.

if it sucks i guess i can still sell it lol.

RM250 including shipping if I remember correctly. They swap out the entire headband for a brand new one. Mine were out of warranty period just FYI.
