I think you mean the EPS 4+4 pins for CPU?

Yeah, the normal configuration is 4 pins or 8 pins for high end mobo which expected to be overclocked heavily.

In short, whether you should plug in 4 pins or 8 pins depend on the CPU configuration. Power guzzle and heavy overclocked probably need the 8 pins.

Oh, i see.
I found the 8 pin coming from my psu.
I thought i would have to go buy one.
Thanks!

Yeah, but just to be sure not to mix up it with PCIE 8pins. They are different and shouldn't even fit physically, but who know, just to be safe and extra careful. sweat.gif

hi guys, got a question here.

do u guys think is more efficient (in terms of power draw to save electric bill) by using 850w instead of 1200 just to power a 980 ti build(may upgrade to 980ti sli builid)?
consider both PSU platinum and from the same manufacture and the same series (eg corsair AXi series)..

im asking this coz i've found 2nd hand 1200w platinum which is almost the same price with a new 860w.. but scare to take it as it may effect my electric bills as my pc is on almost 24/7.. in the other hand, 1200w is so overkill sweat.gif

Hi All,

Could I get some advice on selecting the most appropriate PSU for this desktop? Budget is +- 300 and would like to be able to get from PJ Digital Mall:

Gigabyte GTX 750
AMD Phenom ii x4 955
8GB RAM

I guess other parts are not relevant? Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys for your fast response! Will think about it.

As I do not really OC or change parts that regularly, I assume a non-modular PSU is good enough for me.

Thinking of buying a superflower leadex platinum 750W, is it a good PSU?

I see that the PCIe cables are single cable with two 6+2 pin connectors.

Would it be safe to use only a single cable to power up a 980ti or need to have two cables and use one connector from each cables?

Seasonic, sounds like a cheapo brand, but actually very decent. People are recommending it because of the 5 years warranty?

You might be confused by Sensonic... laugh.gif

Not quite - but Seasonic has a long running history of making high end and very high quality PSUs... Though the competition is now heating up...

Super Flower/CWT/Enhance anyone? brows.gif

That's an excellent unit. TPU has the review for the 1KW variant:
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/SuperFl...r/SF-1000F14MP/

Very high quality components are used (pretty much all Japanese capacitors) and the performance is excellent and should last you for a very long time. icon_idea.gif

another reason to go 750W platinum is that its fan is a ball bearing one compare to 750Wgold & silver which is claimed as FDB (or sleeve bearing??)

initially I want to go for 850W gold since based on review it uses ball bearing fan. one problem though. I found out that the dimensions of leadex gold PSU are conflicting. Johnnyguru stated that the depth is 180mm while factory specs stated 200mm. I dunno what is the depth for the current version. this is mainly for clearance factor since I want to fit a 120mm bottom fan inside my cm690 iii.

Seasonic PSU has become one of the top notch psu around already. But don't go for too cheap la, performance comes at a price wink.gif
