Guys, I haven't been keeping touch with markets/builds lately, especially on PSUs.. but I suddenly in need to replace my son's PC PSU, from an old Corsair VS450. He has a 3300X and 5700 in his rig, with 3 SSDs and some fans. Anything cheap and decent (I know cheap no good good no cheap) since it's nothing fancy anyway. And should I keep running the 5700 with daisy chain?

A 1000w psu doesn’t mean the PC will always consume 1000 watts. It simply means the power supply can provide up to 1000 watts if needed. The actual power consumption depends on the hardware components and how much power they draw during use. For instance, a GPU like the RTX 5090 might use up to 600 watts under full load, but it will use much less when idle or under light use. So your system’s total power draw could vary a lot depending on what you’re doing.

If you're worried about your TNB bill, then the RTX 5090 probably isn't for you. I did a general test by undervolting my RTX 5090 (0.875V @ 2.6GHz) and running it with my 9950X3D using a PBO setting of -30. The purpose of the test is to see if I need to upgrade my 1000W PSU to a higher wattage. Using 3DMark for the test, the system's maximum power draw from the wall was around 700W.

Msian electricity bill is super affordable that it wont make a huge dent in your wallet unlike in EU lar. If you cannot afford the electricity bill, then you might struggle to finance that 5090....
Like sweating the RON97 to feed a Ferrari.

For your use, 5060TI will do fine. But if you want a bit of futureproofing better go with 5070. With deals & discount its basically same price as 5060TI 16GB.

Agreed you're right, 5090 is abit overkill for casual gamer like myself. Think I will just get the 5060 Ti at cheapest price possible

Can consider 7800XT if still on sale now its at good low price. Other than RT it has better raster (I think RT is on par tho..)

Crmaris working closely with OEM PSU maker CWT to improve 12VHPWR connection supply wire to prevent melting issue. If not urgent I would wait for the PSUS from their collabo to come out



To put into easier context brands primarily using CWT are Adata XPG, Montech, Corsair, MSI. So get from any of them once the platforms gets updated with Cybernetics help.
