I think what I saw is a different version, not semi modular one.

https://shopee.com.my/Silverstone-Essential...3178.3321967840

Do you think the same caps used in this one? Good enough?

It's the same thing, the only difference is likely the modularity of the PSU icon_idea.gif

Note though, it's a low end unit with DC-DC (CWT GPN?), but it should be fine considering your machine doesn't consume that much power icon_idea.gif

myway1985 Seems like there are some new Super Flower PSUs:

http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread...-product-lineup

Also, any new PSUs coming to the local market? Seems like Singaporean retailers are now selling the new Legion GX/HX PSUs:

Seems like those units are quite decent value wise and would be a good competitor to the MWE Gold (and similar models) if it comes here hmm.gif

Hi, everyone, need a suggestion here. My PSU : Seasonic 620W is kinda old, almost reach 6 years already. Now to the PSU started to have this subtle buzzing sound, not sure what sound it is but it kinda annoying to leave the pc on idle but have that sound in my room. Below is my spec

Ryzen 7 3700X
MSI B550M Mortar
Corsair Dominator RGB 3200Mhz 8gbx4
Asus Strix GTX1070
Samsung 960EVO 500GB
HDD 1TB x 2
HDD 2TB x 1
SSHD 1TB x 1
4 Corsair LL120
2 Corsair stock fan
1 Corsair Lighting Node Pro
1 Corsair Lighting Hub

should I be worried of the sound coming from my psu ? If I were to change the PSU, which PSU is recommended thinking in future I might upgrade to a RTX3070 at least ?

Might be coil whine? (a recording would be useful here) hmm.gif

Coil whines are not something to be concerned about icon_idea.gif

If you plan to go for a 3070, look for a quality 550-650W unit, something in the line of the XPG Core Reactor/Enermax Revolution DF/Super Flower Leadex III/Corsair RM should do very nicely icon_idea.gif

i guessed it's a coil whine ? since it's a 620W psu, if I were to upgrade to a 3070, can it sustain the load ? or I should upgrade together with a new PSU, saw a shop at shopee sell the XPG Core Reactor 750W for RM458, is it a good price ?

Sounds like coil whine for me hmm.gif

Yes, it will handle a 3070, but do bear in mind that you might want to swap to a newer unit as yours is an old, group regulated unit, which isn't very suitable for modern systems anymore icon_idea.gif

The XPG Core Reactor is a great unit, so go for it if you can (although a 750W unit would be massively overkill for a 3070) icon_idea.gif

Both are very high quality units, so pick the one that is cheaper of the lot icon_idea.gif

The Leadex III is a tier A+ unit (marked in gold in the PSU tier list), whereas the Core Reactor is a Tier A unit:

my suggestion is get the HIGHEST Powered with HIGHEST EFFICIENCY PSU you can afford.

PSU is NOT LIKE CPU/GFX card where you need to change often..

A good one can last you a LIFETIME...

FYI I've been using Seasonic 860W Platinum for >6 yrs ; and survived 3 generations of an upgrade of CPU&GPU.. it scales accordingly when upgrade

You may regret getting 'just enough' for your current rig.. but ended up spending a new PSU when you upgrade your CPU/GPU in the next couple of years...

I did pay close to RM900 back then for this Platinum efficiency 860W PSU ; but I don't have to change 3x PSU and I saved upfront on bill electricity...

Efficiency =! performance mind you tongue.gif

There are lots of 80+ Gold/Platinum units that perform mediocrely icon_idea.gif

What really dictates the quality of the PSU is usually the quality of the components and the overall topology of the PSU itself (as a rule of thumb, always avoid any group regulated + double forward units, as those units are pretty much outdated for modern PCs) icon_idea.gif

Use the PSU tier list for a general idea of the PSU quality:

How much are you willing to spend though? hmm.gif

The new Super Flower units are quite decent:
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/super-fl...r6eCuZ&search=1

DC-DC + LLC topology along with Japanese main capacitors, and is a Tier B unit on the PSU tier list (low priority for now, due to a lack of reviews) icon_idea.gif

hi guys, need some help concerning PSU wattage, as previously I had seek some advice from facebook but then I think I may have gotten some wrong information. I bought 850W PSU for AMD Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 3070 setup.
But when I use the PSU calculator from google, they mentioned I only need around 400W to power up my PC setup.

Will oversupply of Watt from PSU harm my PC? The PSU I bought is as per below

No, the hardware will only draw the necessary watts needed from the PSU icon_idea.gif

You have a high quality unit, so don't worry wink.gif
