Hi, everyone, need a suggestion here. My PSU : Seasonic 620W is kinda old, almost reach 6 years already. Now to the PSU started to have this subtle buzzing sound, not sure what sound it is but it kinda annoying to leave the pc on idle but have that sound in my room. Below is my spec

Ryzen 7 3700X
MSI B550M Mortar
Corsair Dominator RGB 3200Mhz 8gbx4
Asus Strix GTX1070
Samsung 960EVO 500GB
HDD 1TB x 2
HDD 2TB x 1
SSHD 1TB x 1
4 Corsair LL120
2 Corsair stock fan
1 Corsair Lighting Node Pro
1 Corsair Lighting Hub

should I be worried of the sound coming from my psu ? If I were to change the PSU, which PSU is recommended thinking in future I might upgrade to a RTX3070 at least ?

Might be coil whine? (a recording would be useful here) hmm.gif

Coil whines are not something to be concerned about icon_idea.gif

If you plan to go for a 3070, look for a quality 550-650W unit, something in the line of the XPG Core Reactor/Enermax Revolution DF/Super Flower Leadex III/Corsair RM should do very nicely icon_idea.gif

i guessed it's a coil whine ? since it's a 620W psu, if I were to upgrade to a 3070, can it sustain the load ? or I should upgrade together with a new PSU, saw a shop at shopee sell the XPG Core Reactor 750W for RM458, is it a good price ?

Sounds like coil whine for me hmm.gif

Yes, it will handle a 3070, but do bear in mind that you might want to swap to a newer unit as yours is an old, group regulated unit, which isn't very suitable for modern systems anymore icon_idea.gif

The XPG Core Reactor is a great unit, so go for it if you can (although a 750W unit would be massively overkill for a 3070) icon_idea.gif
