I think is nothing to do with first 3 years full sync engine oil. It should be after 3 years the car already out of warranty. Even u no go back services also out of their biz already...

which Person in charge and which Honda SC mentioned can opt 10K after first 3 years using Fully-Synthetic engine oil ? Think owners so "smart" to follow this rules which doesn't applied to anything from the warranty book ?

The Honda SC all have different approaches and the most important they want is the money only.

I agree. The important thing you should do is to write to SC company requesting why and how 5000km oil changes affects warranty. Refer to your insight manufacturer warranty which was issued by the company which made the car. Honda Malaysia did not make your insight. In the manual it is clearly stated 3000 miles for severe and 6000 miles for normal.

In Malaysia the temperature difference is rather narrow, i.e. that is around 23C to 33C. You don't need anything lower than 20W oil and in fact it is better to use 20W -40 for stable temperature like in KL. The oil viscosity is more stable and good for the engine.

My old proton with 300K mileage was recently sent to change the piston rings and the mechanics was impressed with the piston which showed no wear and tear. The only thing that needed to be changed was the piston rings. I have always been using the Shell Helix (yellow) every 10K or depends on the driving condition and I may change at 5K if necessary.

Time to stop the myth and being a sucker. Always write to them instead of talking. As a consumer without a choice for warranty claim, they are obligated to reply to your queries .

See link to about the oil change myth.

It was the SC in Puchong....hmnn...the thing is that the 8 years extended warranty for our hybrid battery only valid if we continue to stick with Honda servicing..

you guys have any thoughts of moving out for car servicing after the first 3 years?

If you noticed, throughout the life of the car, what need to be serviced are those non hybrid parts such as engine, transmission and brake. Furthermore, unlike Prius, insight's engine and transmission are very similar to those non hybrid brothers such as non hybrid jazz and city. Any mechanic that are able to service a typical honda car can service insight. The hybrid part of the car are supposed to be maintenance free.

I had been servicing outside since my car was 50k, now already touched 100k.

Since hybrid battery for insight is rather cheap now, even if they dispute my claim, i can afford to pay from the saving i get by servicing outside. So the extended battery warranty failed to lure me to keep servicing with honda. FYI, i do more than 5k a month on my odo, if i stick to honda, i have to go service once every month.

I m a civic hybric owner. After bad experience with outside (under tree) workshop with my prevoius car, i have decided to stick with hsc. I already opted for 10 k service interval with full synthetic oil. My service centre had no qualm over it as new civic already went for 10 k service interval and i see no difference on the built quality between my yr 2010 to current 2012 version, moreover our car is cbu and supposedly better built quality.

Hi all

any idea what kind of spark plug is insight using?

my insight going to be 100k km soon and need to change spark plug.

as told by honda sc, insight have 8 spark plug and each spark plug cost RM129. So total service will cost RM1400 including engine oil and gear oil.

since after 100k service, my car will not have warranty anymore except the batt... so i looking fwd to service outside. but inorder to service otuside, i need to know what kind of spark plug and gear oil they using...

anyone have any idea?
