Long and interesting thread! I am a newbie and just bought the specialized Allez Comp. Full 105 and what a ride it gives! I have ridden in putrajaya twice so far. Enjoyed the hills... kinda... but looking forward to more scenic-out of town rides.

no point having a UCI compliant bike unless you plan to enter any UCI endorsed races...

this is much cooler... a legend in the tri community although it's fairly dated carbon technology.. zipp 2002

next best thing to the lotus bike chris boardman rode...

friend caught one being sold off singapore for a very cut throat price in my opinion... but it's a piece of history...

her pocket also have to fit the budget lar....

if deep enough.. can actually fly to US for vacation... at the same time go and visit uncle parlee to make a custom carbon frame.. hahaha

note the extra emphasis on "deep enough"..like 20 thousand feet under the see sort of deep...someone told me there is a parlee z5 sl in malaysia and the fella spent in the region of a McLaren Venge on the bike... carbon cranks and stuff...

hi, anybody here rides a tubular wheelset? the weight is tempting, i'm talking about mavic ultimate wheelset..around 1100 grams plus only..that's featherly light! quite cheap compare to zipp though. even the spokes are carbon blade..broke one spoke meaning have to replace the whole wheel i think. blush.gif

but browsing on youtube it seems that it need almost 3 days for gluing it. Is that for real?? what happen if you are out riding a long distance ride and you got a puncture? Bring extra tubuluar, and just bring the sticky tape (like double tape) only and that's sufficient eh?

and what about having to damage the vavle, put a teflon, for the valve extender for zipp wheels, seems complicated enough..

Mavic has a crash replacement program called MP3...don't laugh about the name... not so funny if you are left with an expensive broken wheel...don't cost cheap as well...

Mavic MP3

Mavic MP3 price

you have to check if your side has it?

to glue tubular properly... yes it will take 1 day if you are patient.. even the quickest ones will still require couple of hours for the glue on the base tape to soak in and dry up... depending on the glue used... you still need to wait at least 30mins for it to dry if you are super urgent but that mostly compromises the gluing process to the rim... maybe wet glue on wet glue don't hold together well... not sure the exact reasons...

for emergencies.. spare tubular is up to you... but you can opt for caffle latex or stans no tube sealants which can help seal or slow down the leak depending on the size of the puncture hole... road side repairs can use tubular tape, but that is only to get you back home... if you start doing motogp style of banging into corners.. you risk rolling your tire and then crashing...

Added on December 4, 2012, 2:03 pmif you want to gripe about 3 days waiting...

gripe about this...

julien devries waits 7 years for dopers tires to mature like fine wine..but then, those tires are non-vulcanized tubulars which are super expensive...

http://velonews.competitor.com/2011/02/bik...of-aging_160921

it's available here.. for RM1.2k per pair...

haha. yea, not a chance I'm going to use tubular in that case. too much of a hassle, and it's best suited for racers with their readily available mechanics to do anything for them.

Just wondering if any of you riders here are using tubs, well I guess all of us are using clinchers.

but waiting for 7 years? like a wine? that was freaking crazzzy..1.2k per pair? that's outrageous. Not for a rich man who can buy anything they want though.

Wiggins was here in Dubai couple of days ago and in the auction for his TDF yellow jersey, it was sold for 55,000 dirhams...woot. almost rm52k and that's RICH.

OK back to trolling session guys. lol

I took this picture during my last 85km TT, guess what's the total price of this bike:

you just need patience... and some perseverance... that's all...tubs need not be non-vulcanized, normal ones would do just fine unless you have millions laying around un-used...

RM52k for a smelly jersey... not a chance in hell...i might give 52k if it was Scarlett Johansson's worn panties...

i guess so.. the ridley noah fb is like 4k USD... with Di2 DA easily another RM7k...then the blardy 3T cockpit is easily RM3k upwards (already RM20 k already)... the wheels is not going to be cheap, zipp like price and other miscellaneous stuff...+ the factor of big meat cleavers in UAE... i think it's around there...

KL, maybe a bit above RM20-25k lar...

blardy eagle eye... hole or no hole... we all get the damn meaning can adi lar...

either the owner bluffed me of the price or the costs is totally different in UAE and Malaysia. He told the bike as standard would be roughly around 40k...with all the upgrades he'd done it close to a whopping 90k.

Hard to believe but that's the cost as told by the owner. I can buy a Porsche with that price..that's roughly a price for a Porsche Boxter year 2008 (here in Dubai), to drive a Porsche in Msia is like dreamin only... laugh.gif
