Sorry guys just got my old credit card canceled yesterday.
Had patiently ask for the new policy...and called why we (the loyal old customers ) could not get the nice offer as new card does...
The answer I got is not sure and maybe wait until half year...sorry this is not my intention to get this card. My normal classic card does better.
Just share my experience when canceling at branch. They will first call HQ to get confirm. Then later pass u to tones of ppl incharge & ask tones of questions...not to mention the waiting time...
The last fellow keep reminding me that I have to keep the card for 6 months after waived the card $300 annual fee b4 cancel.....
I got fed up and raise my voice that [ there's no agreement to me that it's a must to keep holding it so long. Don't tel me if I cancel my card, I have to pay that 300? And if I could not get the original benefit of cc, whats the point of using it. Unless u can tell me now I still eligible to this benefit. ] Then he pin point of new policy. I stress again When the New policy comin out..? [If u cannot confirm that, then pls cancel it.]

Finally he agreed cancel it. I then request the cs to cut my card on the spot.

But just in case. I still checking my CC acc until it's finally canceled.
So for those new cc holders. Enjoy while u still can.

You went to scb bank to cancel the card or you called them on the phone? Just wondering which way is easier.

Emailed to SCB to ask my application status, since no news for 3weeks.
And they replied my application has unsuccessful.

My first time apply for CC...and first time rejected.

The bank is not bad. Just that I no longer need it's service when the original benefit was no longer enjoy by us. We lost the same reason we applying it.
Although I might consider it again if need to. But ofcos, they may rejected me by history.

As I said. I go to branch office. I think it can be cancel through phone. But no formal black or white document, I try avoiding it.

Oh ok. Sorry, missed that part.

I think by phone should be ok since you had so much hassle at the branch.

Sorry to hear that. Since it's your first time, probably got rejected coz no credit history. Maybe you try for easier to approve cc (but I dunno which).

As already mentioned earlier by another member. For first time applicant, please avoid applying from foreign banks as your chances for approval are significantly lower due to the absence of credit history. This has been stated many times.

And it's not a big deal to be rejected. Most (if not all) senior members have at one time or another had their card application rejected before in their lifetime.
For the benefit of readers - it's not an obligation for the Malaysian banks to inform that you have been unsuccessful in your credit card application nor to tell you the reason behind the rejection. (Most Gen Y card applicants will ask for the reason behind the rejection - sometimes the "asking" part leans towards "Demand" )

Just activated my 2nd card. Went online to check and found only $55 cashback. So I called up the CS and they said I got the $300 cash back but have to wait 30 days for the remaining cash back to be credited. Ok for me to wait coz I was worried it was the $55 + Smart Tag + etc offer. Don't want an extra Smart Tag.

But kinda weird coz my first SCB card which I applied online had $300 straight away added. I wish SCB is more consistent on this.

Actually I felt that SCB is like trapping ppl into signing their cards.

From this year onwards, no more points, you earn nothing after the promotion period of 6 months.

And, they are freaking good in issuing statement. My card approved on the 07/12/2012, then statement date 09/12/2012. There goes one month. (But card hasn't got yet)

15% CB on petrol is really tempting. Cap at RM68, which means RM455 of petrol consumed monthly, which is easy.

Assuming earning all 6 months you managed to get full RM68 * 6 = RM408. THATS IT!

In my case, the most I can get is 68*5=RM340.00

OCBC i got consistently RM50 monthly.
Maybank AMEX too.

Overall it's more rewarding with OCBC and Maybank2Cards.

If you guys spend over the limit for both OCBC and MBB, like myself, then this card is good for petrol. But last for 6 months only.
