Maybe you can bump up your ISO by another 2-3 stops (ISO 800/1600 if lighting not bright enough or 'low light' / 'dimly lit').
Also, 1/10s shutter is a bit too slow if handheld I think.

On manual exposure mode, you may want to learn using the 'exposure' meter on your cam. This ---> +2 .. +1 .. | .. -1 .. -2

From your EXIF :

Camera Nikon D7000
Exposure 0.1 sec (1/10)
Aperture f/5.6
Focal Length 92 mm
ISO Speed 250
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Exposure Program Manual
Max Aperture Value 5.7
Metering Mode Center-weighted average
Exposure Mode Manual
White Balance Auto
Focal Length (35mm format) 138 mm
Quality RAW
Focus Mode AF-A
Exposure Difference -0.7
Vibration Reduction On
Active D- Lighting Off

true ...but in this case, you are already at the limit of a good source of lighting.
hence, you should open up more aperture (f/1.8, 2.8, 3.2, etc).... but that is not possible with your 18-105 f/3.5-5.6 lens.

the other is slowing further your shutter to get more lights in, but again, not possible because your shutter already at 1/10s. Go even slower, and you'll get even more 'motion blur' or handshake.

So you got only ISO to play with (increase it further)...... or add more lights to get faster shutter speed and maintain the same ISO. smile.gif
I believe d7k can still give good & usable image even until ISO6400. tongue.gif

is it saying that i should have one lower aperture lens? lower the aperture better the exposure?

low f number means bigger aperture.
or the other way around, bigger f number means smaller aperture.

confusing eh? ..hehe.

example 1 : f/8 vs. f/5.6
f/5.6 is 'bigger' aperture and brings in more light. (but at the same time your DOF is shallower too)

example 2 : f/2.8 vs. f/1.4
same as above. f/1.4 is bigger aperture than f/2.8.

so how about
#1 --> "f/8 vs f/1.4"
#2 ---> "f/5.6 vs. f/2.8"

which one gives more light for the two cases above? Can try and guess? tongue.gif laugh.gif

the it should be 1.4 > 2.8 > 5.6 > 8.. is that correct? lower the f is bigger aperture mean bigger the hole to allow more light to go in is it?

Alright, D800 and D800E owners best to check your unit for AF issue! I verified my D800 + another D800 + another D800E just now... all affected with left AF.

bro, learn the basics first. actually the basics = logic. very very easy to learn.

ISO, shutter speed, aperture. master these things first then get into the other stuffs. do u have a fren who can teach u? looks like u do. learn with ur fren, shooting is fun, really fun! thumbup.gif

Sounds like your right having issue instead if you AF fine tune to center tongue.gif left and center back focus... then right good?

go slap your friend tongue.gif u're using a D7000. part of the money you spent goes to that impressive sensor that can still perform well at high ISOs.

it's true that if ISO is too high, ull get noise. but dont be afraid to push it up. even at 6400 it should be fairly good. the good thing about increasing ISO is there isn't any significant side effects (up to a certain point of course). if u try to increase exposure by increasing shutter speed, ull get motion blur. increasing aperture is limited by ur kit lens, but even then (especially for macro) ur DOF would be too thin.

tl;dr, better to have noisy photos compared to motion blur / DOF too shallow

oh is it, hehe thanks for the advice.. i still looking for a setting that suites me. brows.gif
then later might get myself a 50mm lens...but i dunno how to differentiate them.. 50mm lens is for taking human photo and macros right? correct me if i am wrong icon_question.gif

yup smile.gif but when i fine tuned the middle point really good, then subject within 1meter will be perfect, but further than that will be out of focus. read this somewhere someone had the same prob. nikon did claim that the D800/E's sensor is very demanding. i mean, look at the quality it can give la tongue.gif so superb!

your friend is correct, but your friend is also wrong

if you are given a situation where you need to take picture of your friend in a party (indoor living room), light is dark couple with the dark hair of asian make it even darker, you dont have a off-camera flash and your in-camera is so lousy

in this situation you want to go for 100 ISO but shutter speed of 1/5s and everyone just blur out or you want to go for ISO 3200 and shoot at 1/100 and your friends all like your pictures in facebook and they are glad that you are there to take pictures for them

so low ISO or the now-or-never moment? choose one smile.gif
