But like that also doesn't make sense... it's only a crisis for the Swiss. Not for the Japanese.
*
ppl can choose to consider anything, esp its subjective. those ppl may collect swiss not Jap too.
its alright to disagree.
yes its a crisis for Swiss and American as they all make mechanical. Japanese seiko just cut back on making mechanical and ship out quartz.
anyway, ppl usually use vintage 1985 Omega or vintage 1960s Omega. Vintage 2000 Tag Heuer with the year attached.

its just a term don't need to get so fixated to it.

I dont agree or disagree smile.gif just for discussion sake.. So you mean "vintage" has to be associated with a bumper year or period?

Speaking of vintage watches, has anyone dealt with WatchLIM before? Is it legit?

http://watchlim.blogspot.com/2011/08/omega.html

These vintage Omegas are quite attractive...

Is Bilan O' Polo BPC nice brand? How bout its quality n looks?
*
Bilan O'Polo is a house brand for a watch retailer. Time Planet Sdn. Bhd. Not sure about the quality, since I haven't noticed anyone selling these watches in my area.
Why don't you call them to find out the price?

Yes. By definition, vintage means a period of origin or manufacture.
Example: I have a Seiko Kinetic SKJ006P1 of 1995 vintage. biggrin.gif

The term vintage is commonly misused.

Forget the 5513 and get a DSSD. While I'm not a big Rolex fan, the manufacture and details built into the DSSD is the best for a dive watch from Rolex. thumbup.gif

hi there catnip,

I have tried the entire of the latest range of Rolex Watches (except for the sky dweller and DJ which i don't care about) and i personally found the proportions DSDD too large for me...and this is coming from a Panerai owner... the escape valve and overtly protruding flat sapphire also just looks rather daft to me.. yes i know these are fundamental for the DSSD to reach teh great depths it is capable of, but the submariners are still my preferred of the Rolex diving range. Admittedly these preferences are mostly due to cosmetic reasons...I prefer the no dates because i prefer non cyclops magnifiers (yes i know the cyclops of the date-sub can be removed easily but i would never dare do that to any factory timepiece). My reasoning for choosing a vintage subbie is because i feel that the piece has evolved very little over the course of half a decade, hence it still looks relevant today. I personally love the challenge of looking for a full set, the tuna can bracelet that will still actually snap in place, decent condition hour and minute hands, etc... Vintage is new territory for me hence its i find it interesting, plus it would make a better story to tell my boys over our weekend piss ups smile.gif

ack! what a long reply for a sunday morning...

my wife is the one that gave me the assurance and hence we went for it . without her push ill probably decide against it. It's my first expensive watch and the funny thing is once we got it we were thinking about ap as our next target. Hopefully that dream will come true. haha
