CYMA is a Swiss manufacture owned by Stelux Holdings International Ltd. A public listed company in Hong Kong.

<Link>

If it is good enough for Andy Lau and currently Liu Ye, it's good enough for everyone. biggrin.gif

BTW, Stelux also owns the Thong Sia Group.

Although Citizen makes some automatic movements, their main focus is on quartz Eco-Drive. (80% of their production in 2011)

but I'm looking for dress watch.

Leather strap and case is less than 38mm.

watch don't want too thick prefer thin.

and most importantly automatic.

budget 1.6k the most.
*
Seiko 5 is around 36mm ~ 38mm, 10mm thickness in countless designs to choose from. BTW mine is 36mm wink.gif
Get a Seiko 5 and buy a leather strap separately.

Or

Check Seiko Premier range.

Or

Orient.

Or

"Swiss Made" Tissot perhaps? tongue.gif

AFAIK, Tissot does not sell any COSC chronographs.

A Mido All Dial V7750 COSC can be bought for around RM5.5K.

Although more expensive, you might want to consider a Longines Caliber L688.2 chrono. (ETA A08.231 exclusive to Longines) It's the cheapest Swiss column wheel chronograph.

Is it really necessary to have that quickset date button there? I mean it sorta like throws out the whole proportion of the watch.
*
No. Orient does make other calibers with single crown and quickset day and date.
I believe they still make these since they are still popular and in demand.

Seiko did stop production of Seiko 5 during the quartz revolution in the 80's for a short period but brought it back because it was and till today still in demand.

Out of proportion? Yes. But aren't almost all watches the same with the crown and pushers on one side?
Even our faces are asymmetrical.

Citizen is under my blacklisted company. Apart from that, not many stores are selling Citizen watches.

But, if I were to get one I'd chose:

PMA56-2791 200m (JDM)
or
BN0000-04H 300m (US & European Model) Not available in Malaysia.
Its also the current issue diver's watch for the British Royal Navy.

Both models have same minute markers on the bezel that has better visibility crucial for diving than the watch in that pic.

Ad verbum:
QUOTE
Citizen watches are price controlled item they are the only distributor (Yes, under Citizen Japan administration) in Malaysia taking effort to control the price and catching those parrallel and water goods "distributor".
They only service watches sold through them (there is some secret marking inside the case, not outside the case) but not parallel imported watches.

Oops I wonder if my Nighthawks purchased from fleabay fall under this category (I got them at a huge discount by the way).
*
If purchased not from Malaysian authorized dealers and sourced from Malaysian distributor, then yes.

In theory, there is nothing to worry about. Citizen claims that the Eco-Drive batteries can still keep their 80% of their capacity in 20 years. Anyway they never mentioned anything about their solar cells. That will also degrade over time. So will the lubricants and the gaskets. Just enjoy your Nighthawks.

QUOTE(chopin @ Nov 14 2012, 09:19 PM)
oic, i wonder other than citizen, do other brands like seiko, orient, oris, etc also do the same?
*
It's understandable if the SC does not honor warranty for watches without an international warranty. It's not acceptable to refuse service just because a customer bought a watch elsewhere. Just call the SC of the respective brands and ask them their service and repair policy.

I think the steel bracelet retails at 5.5k
Should be below 4k after discount.
Quite light.

Hopefully it does drop as it's priced 2k higher than any other Orient Star around.
But resellers are saying it's limited edition, so i doubt it'll go down.

@jackiewong
Same for me. Went to check it out with 2k in hand. Was hoping to bring it home.
Was shock when the retail price was 5.5k
