guys, wanna ask, the brand Cyma is it good for its price?

and it is considered under which range? same as Tissot?
*
It is a swiss pedigree but is owned by Hong Kees.

It uses ETA movement aka mass produced factory engines by the Swatch Group. To me, it is no different btw a Tissot, Certina, Cyma or Ball..... They are just different on the outside.

I think the EU should have an Anti-Trust Law against Swatch & Co for buying up all the small watch maker. This kills competition and creativity.

Hi guys,

I am thinking to get this Maurice Lacroix le classiques chronograph. I am still a bit reserved about Maurice Lacroix as it is not as famous as others on the same range like Tag Heuer. But comparably, it's much cheaper than the Tag Heuer Carrera Chrono.

Would appreciate to get some inputs from everyone here.

Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece and Pontos series is one of the cheapest Swiss in-house movement you'll get in the market. Jaeger-Le-Coulter is the next in line for that title.

Good choice if one ever get ML (only the Masterpiece and Pontos series).

The above series starts around RM 20K.

Not mine. Its very affordable, manual wind ~$2020, automatic ~$3000
Full in house movement!

He he he it is in USD isn't it. Have to be clear, if it is MYR, I'll grab it ASAP.

BTW, I'll go drool.gif on NOMOS anytime, I love it to bits.

Only problem is, if it goes bonk, there will be no service agent in Bolehland. Since it is not swiss but Deutche, I am afraid there may not be skilled people to do the servicing here.

That is my caveat for this horologie piece de resistance.

i fail to see the logic to buy a Rolex and keep it in the safe and wear an Orient Mako as a beater watch.

Wearing the Rolex, and having it accompany you in your life and timing every precious second the past, that's the whole idea isn't it? Not having such a masterpiece sit in the safe.

Its meant to tell time, not kept in a safe..that's just me lah.

My watch have battle scars, well worn, but each scar is inflicted by me, making it truly mine. If its kept in the safe, well, its just like a new watch that has not been worn, and what is that for? Museum piece?

Rollie is a mugging magnet.

Mako, Monster, Mudman or the G-Series for everyday work.

Pontos, MasterPiece, Tagente or slightly up the ante: Reverso or Master Compressor for more refined occasion.

Calatrava, Nautilus, Altiplano or Saxony as heirloom. Remember the cheesy tagline "You don't own a XXXXX, you look after it for the next generation".

Yonggoh,

What is cheapest Swiss made Valjoux-7750 COSC grade available in the market? I think Tissot, yes?

Romeolee,

Any Master of G is good. Personally I am targeting Gulfman next.

hahaha dun get me wrong guys... i tried on the JLC before at the MBS shoppes and it was just a tick over rm20,000 at the time if i recall...
Quite significantly less than the RM50k+ asking price for the Piaget..
hence the term "poor man's version"....

RM20,000/RM50,000 to pay for any watch is not something many people could just buy on impulse...

It would take me lots of restrained spending and maggi noodles before my wallet has enough ammo to pull on another time piece...
*
Yes, agree....

buy one altiplano = two reversos: one for the missus and one for myself.

Or One altiplano = three royal orient: one for casual, one for dressage and another skeleton for show-off.

One day, you just wait, 007 will wear a nuclear powered, GPS enabled with Atomic time-keeping ability and Tough solar'ed FROGMAN/GULFMAN hybrid called GRULF-MAN.

Merry X'mas to all.

I have a little rant to share:

My orient mako at exactly 6 o'clock, the minute hand is 2 degrees to the left of the 12 position and she is only one year old.

My tudor prince date which is 9 years old, the hour and minute hand is perfectly aligned at 6'o clock.

Talk about Swiss pedigree.

So sorry Yonggoh for accidently falsely leading you or Everdying on... I don't own these pieces (yet).

They are my dream collection, not yet a reality.

Have to get approval from the missus for any new timepiece purchase coz' she thinks I am a bit cuckoo for obsessing so much about horology.

Off topic, but cars like ford mustang in malaysia are well overpriced, a fairly new mustang in the US is priced well below rm100k.

But I guess you could say that EVERY car in malaysia is overpriced  tongue.gif  so drive average car but wear good watch

I second the above motion.

I don't mind if my watch is as pricey as my car.... he he he.
