I dont mind getting my hands dirty in fact I enjoy it. Just two things that I am concerned with that are climbing up too high like 5 meter & above...scared of height. Risk must also be considered like one solar company ->low health or high accident rate. But this is not so much of an issue..shit happens everywhere just have to be extra careful

well the title valve engineer...but i didnt see any state description about designing it...i thought it was done by the US or europe branches.

If you are referring to the PVM group in Menara UOA (Oil and Gas Valve Engineer title as per jobstreet ad) then it is purely 100% office work.

By any chance Oil and Gas career requires programmers and still gets a 6 month bonus? I am currently working in a Bank/Insurance company under Information Services Dept. and the max bonus I get so far is 3 months. I've heard they used to pay 5-6 months but not anymore now sad.gif

Last time i got phone interview with BH somewhere in December last year for engineer position. I never got any feedback from them until last week which already almost one year after my 1st phone interview. I got email something like this:

Hello,

Congratulations! We would like to conduct the next step of the hiring process, which is a 30-60 minute telephone interview with a member of our University Recruiting team.

Please schedule this step online by going to http://schedule.bakerhughescareers.com .

We recommend that you provide us with a Skype account as an alternate way of contacting you. If you do not already have this information you can create an account by going to http://www.skype.com/.

Should you have any questions, please email us at graduates@bakerhughes.com.

Thank you. We look forward to speaking with you soon!

Baker Hughes University Recruiting

its another phone interview and i'm wondering what the difference between last time phone interview.

I believe there also many people facing the same situation like me smile.gif

Interested in getting a job in Oil&Gas Industry.

Well, good interest.

Oil & Gas industry is regarded as one of the highest paid industry.

I'm working with a travel agency and I'm dealing with sales from Oil & Gas companies.

Got to know many of them - engineers, and they are earning on average RM 5000 above a month.

Managerial level pays about RM 15,000 per month.

Example, a Rig Manager can pull in an income of RM 17,000 a month in this company I know. WOW!.. Impressive, thats like more than my one year salary.! smile.gif

But, think of it.

Bring a rig manager, you need to take care of an offshore rig of more than 500 people.
You need to ensure the safety, their traveling needs, their trainings, their well beings in general.

Any problem is YOU only. SO why the high pay? There is a HIGH Risk.

Even those working on the rig. They can pull in RM 500 average a DAY! I mean a DAY!... Wow... impressive huh..

phew.. nice huh.. so go.. work with Shell, or ExxonMobil.. haha
*
You re right about that. but, look at their working contract.
permanent or just direct contract.
usually, the higher income from the direct contract (e.g: 2 years contract, if needed will continue)

I am working as mechanical design engineer for 1 year in automotive industry. I am thinking of joining oil and gas industry, either start as fresh or continue doing mechanical design.

Any suggestions on which company to apply?

It seem everyone interested join this field. If looking for high paid. yes it is because of the risk and nature of business. However bear in mind its depend on field ages which till now everyone will expected there are no more oil to be drilling.

Currently the one who can beat this oil and gas salary is TELCO field. Engineer telco can get easier 6k above now. hehehe....

Dont think you are right on the bolded part. There are plenty of areas that haven't been explored yet. Further more there a alot of small field that currently waiting to be develop. So i think ONG activity in Malaysia will continue for quite sometime.

Are u sure telco is the sector which can beat OnG? as per my understanding, telco in Malaysia has reach a maturity stage and the market is saturated. based on research, the growth rate for telco in malaysia is about 3-4%. but the marginal increment can be in big amount (RM). What i am really foresee a good market to beat OnG is banking industry due to the need of risk and compliance to mitigate the potential issue, such as 2008 global financial crisis.
