Only AP set, i9305 LTE version. But just available I think last week and the price is very expensive at the moment.

If you want fast update, I think can go for the Nexus 4. But it lacks micro-SD support. If that's not a problem for you, then it's the best choice now? It comes with 2GB Ram.
16GB non-expandable storage not enough for me. My music already occupy 15GB.

WP8 was launched yesterday. Gsmarena has a review on it. I don't see any cutting edge features there. Some of them should have been in WP7.5 like re-sizable tiles and data monitor. Still no bluetooth file transfer. It is still far behind Android and trying to catch up with ios. One weird feature is Kid's Corner to let kids play with your phone safely. I say, do many users want their mobile phones to double up as toys for their kids? Microsoft is funny.

Kids corner is a God sent feature. I have exactly the same problem with handphone being used by my kid and they keep calling up people by mistake. And the next thing the apps icons are all over the place. They need a safe corner to play their own thing.

This WP8 is not bad I gotta admit. Now it depends on the available apps to make it work.

It can never catch up or compete with Android is it never offer proper smartphone features, as in a proper mobile computer. If it remain restriction, locked on, rely on Zune, limited access to files/format, etc. It'll just remain as another media player category OS. It can never fullfill the needs of people who're used to and looking for a mobile computer phone.

I just can't imagine if our Desktop PC will become like this one day.

Actually this kind of feature can be easily implemented especially on FLEXIBLE and OPEN OS. It's just that they come up with this idea first; just like Driving Mode, they can provide more modes like Kids Mode, etc.
The key point here is, with flexible and open OS, it can be designed to let the user customize their very OWN mode, just like Symbian profiles or Accounts in Windows, so we can restrict what specific account can do (e.g. ability to purchase apps in App Store).

App icons all over the place is not much of a big deal... my daugther actually go and uninstall my apps on iPod Touch, gone are not just the apps but also the game saves. Another problem is, they like to press physical button, so they will press the HOME button, or Windows Button, thus jumps out of the game.

GSMArena also did mentioned File Transfer is finally available.

But not really clear if there is restriction on specific file format allow for transfer since there is no File Explorer? There seems to have mass-storage mode, but does it allow user to store any file types they want?

And as I've mentioned before:
http://www.gsmarena.com/windows_phone_8-review-839p9.php

Au contraire - Windows Phone 8 is only now able to start matching up against iOS, and it's still got a lot of ground to cover to reach Android levels of functionality and customization options. So it seems that the Nokia Lumias, the Samsung Ativs and the HTC WPs will first try and steal market share from iOS, before looking at the Google-powered army (though some might be tempted to give up some functionality for the cool looks).

So, the Lumia 820 and 920, will be good for those who doesn't bother much about flexibility, functionalities and cutomizations of Android. Personally, WP is better than iOS, in terms of OS comparison as it offer deep and nice SNS integration, and now having support bluetooth file transfer, sd-card and mass-storage mode.
If only they offer a true Windows on mobile phone, let user decide to keep it simple or utilize the OS to the fullest, not lock the user down.
If done right, Nokia may have better chance and N8 or 808 PureView users can truly look forward for a Lumia PureView.

BGR has a review of HTC's Windows Phone 8X. The review is not a must read but the concluding comments hit the mark. To quote some passages:

It’s the same old story… apps.

High-quality Windows Phone apps are still incredibly scarce compared to the leading mobile platforms and momentum is not in Microsoft’s favor. It has been more than two and a half years since “Windows Phone Series 7″ was first announced and more than two years since the first round of devices launched. And still, apps are a huge issue.

For one thing, the platform is missing hundreds of popular apps that have been available on other platforms for quite some time. For another, many popular developers that do decide to bring their apps over to Windows Phone have done a very poor job, either due to inexperience with the platform and available tools, limitations and performance issues in Windows Phone itself, or a combination of both.

Users can’t switch from Android or iOS to Windows Phone if they don’t have access to their favorite apps. And users won’t switch if the apps they do have access to don’t perform well.

At the end of the day Windows Phone 8 is a tough sell just like Windows Phone 7.5, which was a tough sell just like Windows Phone 7. It’s not for lack of trying, and it certainly doesn’t speak to the quality of the software or the devices that carry it. HTC’s Windows Phone 8X is a gorgeous, elegant smartphone with a unique design and solid performance.

The sad truth is that there is still no compelling argument for Windows Phone over one of the market leaders.

The optimist in me wants to tell you that can change. The app situation will improve now that Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 share code, the third-party app performance situation will improve now that Windows Phone has a new core and new options for developers, and the visibility situation will improve now that Microsoft and Nokia are both dumping serious dollars into marketing. But the pessimist in me isn’t quite convinced. There are still too many ifs.

Compounding matters is the fact that as it stands today, there is no real differentiation that presents clear and important advantages over the competition. Nothing jumps out as a significant benefit over Android and the iPhone. Sure there are things Windows Phone has that its rivals do not, but they are not a big enough draw to really sway buyers.

If you’re willing to make do with Windows Phone in its current state and play the waiting game, I wholeheartedly recommend the Windows Phone 8X. This phone is awesome. The hardware is outstanding and the operating system is unique and smooth. But there are unavoidable compromises you’ll have to make in jumping over to the Windows Phone camp and now, more than two years since the platform first launched, people still seem unwilling to make those compromises.

P.S. Sorry about hijacking this thread...kekekeke

Hmmm this is weird, some review sites say photos (picture) are not able to transfer via bluetooth..
but wouldn't it redundant to make such restriction since they allowed users to transfer music (via xbox or bla bla bla? effing microsoft making things so confuse)._.?

WP seem like a good iOS replacement, but just for those non-apps-zombies i guess, most ios users doesn't care about flexibility or being closed source, what they care are "able to show off their newest latest apps" to the others, so WP couldn't even fill up their teeth's gap lol sweat.gif
I guess for now, WP's target market are those pre-blackberry users/corporates (that can't wait for BB10), diehard nokians (how many of them left we wouldn't know lol), and stalkers (ftw!) lololololol
Apps redefined smartphone industry, so WP is nothing without them regardless it's well refurbished "iOS" yawn.gif

Once your phone enter water the warranty will be void.

2nd if you immediately take out and remove tbe battery there a higher probability it can be saved but if more than 30mins i believe the internal have been already short circuit already. Wish u luck bro

Not all Symbian users can accept WP restrictions and limitations, if you have been using something more flexible and open, going into a more restricted and limited OS feels plain dumb and stupid, going backwards. Even many Windows Mobile users are disappointed and sticking back to Android.

WP8 now supporting micro-SD, bluetooth file transfer, mass-storage, seems moving forward but still BEHIND their own predecessor, Windows Mobile, in terms of OS functionality/feature and flexibility. I'm not sure what sort of restrictions are there for these newly added feature, I read in GSMArena, you can transfer "unsupported" file format into the micro-SD when connected as mass-storage mode, but you will not be able to attach those file in emails or even see those files from the OS because it's "unsupported". If we're talking about a computer, how stupid is that? Imagine your Windows PC can only see media files.
But then, not everyone bothers about this, or they can imagine this... some people they need to experience it then only they will realize and complain about it (e.g. when one day there's a urgent request, they need to send specific files when they're outside, but their "smartphone" can't even do such simple task)... Just like bluetooth file transfer, some people said, I don't need it. But having it wont' harm, not having it, it's another story; imagine after taken an amazing photos of a pretty girl (or hot guys for girl), the person ask for the photo to be send to his/her phone and you "smartphone" can't do it. At least this issue, supposedly been solved in WP8, else imagine having to boast about the Lumia PureView technology, but then you can't send the photo via bluetooth... Epic!!!

The best joke I see about WP8 is the video where the presenter said WP8 is personalized and unique unlike Android and hard to differentiate or recognize because they're all the same??? WP8 is all tiles, nothing much to personalized, no customization, no wallpaper... Android, you have homescreen with "live" widgets, wallpaper, customizations. It's more unique and personalized, it can also simulate WP8 live tiles via widgets (except not scrollable and not able to fill the entire homescreen). Even Symbian is more personalized and much much more customizable than WP8.
The best homescreen is still Maemo's Panorama Desktop. It's the most flexible and customizable homescreen with FREE placement of icons, widgets, you can even overlap them, set transparancy, etc. There's even very powerful custom widgets you can customize yourself. In short, it's very much like your Windows Desktop.
Too bad Nokia already abandon this.

No warranty coverage for water damage.

Did you try to turn on your phone many times? Try to wipe clean your phone, dry it up, and soaked it inside uncooked rice for few days or longer? Then try your luck...

After reading the WP8 specs I think Microsoft has listened to many of the users' complaints and removed some of the major restrictions. Now WP8 has mass storage mode, bluetooth file transfer, micro-SD card, can use any MP3 file as ringtone and not tied to Zune anymore. Previously they try to ape Apple thinking that if iphone can do it then so can they. This is erroneous logic as iphone and WP8 have different target markets. For example no iphone user complains about no bluetooth file transfer but this is the most requested feature in WP7.5.

However it may be too little, too late now for WP8. If those features including re-sizable tiles had been in WP7.5 they won't be suffering with less than 3.5% share now. WP8 is still far behind Android and only a little less restricted than ios. Those who don't like ios restrictions will go for Android. Iphone fans can live with ios restrictions or they can jailbreak. MS will just have a fringe market for those who don't like ios and Android.

As for Nokia it cannot survive even if WP8 is moderately successful. It has to share the cake with Samsung, HTC and Microsoft who will be making their own phones next year. Efforts to convert Symbian users to WP7.5 failed with only 2 out of 10 converting. Nokia isn't nimble enough to compete with Samsung and HTC and Microsoft will clobber all of them. Here's an interesting article which hits the mark.

"Game over for Nokia," says ex-Microsoft exec

That's because most people buy ios for apps not to bluetooth transfer and restriction.

But wp they are not the highest nor the lowest.

To say most simplify not really to say they are the best in social integration not likely because its mostly for facebook and twitter only.

To say connectivity alot limitation from wp7 and wp7.5 can't bluetooth transfer, can't do drag and drop mass storage, no internet sharing out of the box,

Open up, take out battery, case.Put in rice or silicon gel for 1 week. If the rice/silicon gel become wet due to absorbing the water, change it. My E6 rendam in laundry before, for 1 hr. I tot sure gone case. After 2 weeks in silicone gel, it can still work, touchscreen part still responsive. Just the battery kaput. So, dont underestimate our Nokias. Good luck with your 808, hope it survive.
