Thanks glad you like it. tongue.gif Cheapest prices on the net for Sambar stag handled is about US$164. Highest about US$280 which is probably the suggested retail price. I believe I paid about US$173. Shipping to Malaysia was free as my aunt was in Maine and brought it back for me.

Black, green and natural micarta ranges from as low as US$150-155 and stacked leather handled is about US$148. Highest US$220-250.

This video review http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lESovjAsakY by a Japanese deer hunter 'sold' the knife to me, along with the fact that it's an AFFORDABLE approximation of the Randall Model 25. Didn't want the leather washer handle though. hmm.gif

Here's the Randall Model 25 that inspired it!

Probably a dumb question from a guy who's spent too much time with computers (and is interested in knives)

How do you guys get it past customs? Don't they block this stuff?

i've been trying to find out whether there's risk of it getting seized...and i stumbled upon this forum. Anyone knows a thing or two?

Nice knife there...

I think single-edged should be okay, but double-edged daggers like the Fairbairne-Sykes type are illegal.

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply... i just got back from running an outdoor teambuilding camp.

gtasaboss: balisongs are a total no-no! its listed in the Offensive Weapons Act, and therefore illegal to own or carry. I dont and wont sell them. I cannot speak for others.

tnehsc: I sell those... just havent got the time to add them to the website. PM/email me if you are seriously interested in getting one.

CocoMongo: Sorry I dont sell Benchmade. You can try to source for them locally at CoreZone or mycorezone.com

nitevision92: I own a boker subcom CLB, part of the magnum range. I like them a lot, small, compact, sturdy, sharp, secure lock and good edge retention. unfortunately, due to its economical pricing, it uses a cheaper high carbon steel and prone to rust if not regularly cleaned and oiled.

mine a Malaysia Knife Forums' limited edition like the one pictured here:

As mentioned by alqa... automatic knives (unless ur in the army) and balisong is illegal, not only in malaysia but also in the US; who actually have the right to bear arms written into their constitution.

But just for discussion sake.. what makes a balisong illegal? for automatic knives i once heard that it is because it is easy to conceal.

well the rule is there but its not enforced. i once saw a gathering of balisong flippers 10 yrs ago and cops do nothing about them. i guess the enforcement here in malaysia is different in the us.

here's something to share with folks who are concerned about your international shipment getting seized by the malaysian custom. I guess it boils down to what kinda blade your trying get:

In my case, this one from knifecenter.com caught my eye, it's a Gerber combat knife designed by chris reeve:

I took the hassle to look up the Kastam webpage and emailed them for enquiry. Good news is they actually replied fast, and prompted me to attach an image. I attached the same one above. Here's the bad news:

bro, tnehsc... i apologize for not replying sooner. I just came back from running an outdoor induction camp in Melaka.

well its good for you to take the effort to write to kastam, pdrm and later you'll be referred to KDN. I guess, you've just successfully poked the hornets nest.

that's why the americans come up with this policy: "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" cos once you've asked, you might not like the answers, and since you are now well informed, therefore if you still persist, you have legally breached the law and eligible for persecution.

On the other hand if you dont ask, you didnt know and therefore you were 'uninformed' on the matter and might just get away with a warning. ..... aaaah ignorance is bliss.
