does anybody here have a knife made out of D2 steels? Does it just stain or does it really rust? Most of the internet sites i visited are US sites which in all honesty is not as humid or as rain forest wet as malaysia.
I am asking coz i am considering between a D2 and a 154CM SS. I am currently leaning towards the D2 coz of its higher carbon and vanadium content which makes it more wear resistant. but at the same time worried it will rust in our weather and jungle environment. |

I've sold a few Kershaw Outcast, which uses D2 steel. In the case of Outcast, the blade is coated with black oxide coating. However after considerable use, the coating will slowly diminish due to wear and tear. Based on the users feedback, if not properly cleaned and treated, it will rust and rust fast.
Yes the D2 is more wear resistant, easy to sharpen and can hold the edge considerably longer.. but you need to care for it as well. keep it sharpen after each use to ensure shaving sharp edge and make sure its clean and oiled/coated before lengthy/prolonged storage. best method to coat/oil is tuf-glide.. wipe using its tuf-cloth. available here: www.blade.my |

QUOTE(gtasaboss @ Jun 29 2010, 12:16 AM) how much r u willing 2 pay 4 1? Wow that's one pretty decent balisong. I'm a newb who just got into this hobby last month. Started off with a cheapo 25bucks from Professor shop. Been playing it at least hrs a day i heard places in kelantan got aplenty of them. but all of them are cheap china made ones. you need to buy health insurance before you start flipping them. dont want to wound up like a friend of mine.... Pretty damn solid and looks like a Benchmade 42 but closeup its really dirty and nails tend to loosen after flipping..can't seem to find a way to tighten it. Dont need to buy insurance...buy PVC electrical tape instead..just wrap the sharp edges and tip with multiple layers and flip away! Though that loses abit of realism Am looking for a good pair of quality balisong. But of coz nothing too crazy like a Benchmade or Spyderfly.. |

Haha definitely I will share..can't seem to find anywhere selling these stuff in K.L. since its illegal here in Malaysia...which kinda sucks. Your Jaguar is really nice..looks like a pair of vintage haha. Maybe its just me and my lousy skills, I just hate the latch. Always get in the way. Would be grateful if anyone can find a pair with spring latch apart from Benchmade.. Oh there you go, some cheapos i have ![]() ![]() |

i think the one in bronze is a jaguar benchmade ripoff.
and the build is pretty good too. the handle consist of one piece of metal, jeff smith's is totally going to recommend this. |

haha the sad thing is it loosens pretty easily and horizontal swirls aint smooth anymore without proper and constant lubrication.
Just wondering, why is possession of balisong illegal and not penknife? |

like i said in my previous post, the cops are probably jealous of us for having cool flipping knives and they cant use them during enforcement due to practicality issues.
its a dumb theory but my friend got police clearance despite owning an easily hidden kerambit in his car once. and my other friend got kicked out from a shopping mall by the security guards for flipping out his brand new balisong. it sucks when the cooler something is, the harder it is to get it due to haters gonna hate. |

Hmm have u tried the move cherry picker? can't seem to find good tutorials online for that. If possible it would be great if you can do one with good explanation |

hi guys... sorry for the long absence.
Recent arrival of new family member had screwed my scheduling. My in-laws had insisted that my wife and baby stay with them throughout her confinement period and that have resulted in me having to commute from Shah Alam to Seremban on a daily basis. sorry that i couldnt keep up with this thread, but if you have any request or inquiries, just shoot me an email at sales@blade.my |

QUOTE(nitevision92 @ Jul 12 2010, 12:19 AM) Ha ha... I sell both Boker and Emerson... and you are comparing a Beemer to a Perodua. Emerson LaGriffe is neck knife that results from a collaboration between Ernest Emerson and Fred Perrin, both are renowned knifemaker. Its made of 154CM and meant to be worn as a concealed/backup weapon. The 154CM is easy to sharpen and can hold an edge making the LaGriffe a premium neck knife following in the tradition of earlier Perrin's LaGriffe (french for Claw) style. The Subclaw is another member of the Boker's highly successful Subcom series. Its a sub-compact folding knife that can fit in your wallet and can easily be passed as a money clip. designed by Chad Los Banos, a Hawaiian martial art practitioner and happened to be a friend of mine. manufactured in China under licensed by Boker Solingen of Germany. The blade is made from AUS 8 and hence its affordable pricetag. The LaGriffe is designed to be a sturdy concealable fixed blade, whilst the subclaw is meant as an economical compact folder. Which is better? depends on your needs and budget. The LaGriffe is made of better material and features top class craftmanship.. but its purty expensive and rather hard to explain when stopped at a roadblock due to its aggressive design and offensive form. on the other hand the subclaw is prone to rust if not cared and maintained.. pretty nimble looking when folded and might even be overlooked when you have cash clipped to it. and if confiscated you wont cry over it cos it cost less. please understand that both of these tools resemble the shape of a kerambit, which in the eyes of Malaysian lawmaker and enforcer, is a very dangerous and very illegal offensive weapon. I'm writing strictly from memory... so please correct me if i'm wrong haha.. i just stumbled upon this pic from google.. ![]() This post has been edited by alqa: Jul 19 2010, 04:12 PM |

dear all,
please take note that I DO NOT, HAVE NEVER and NEVER WILL sell butterfly knives @ balisongs, automatic knives and/or switchblades. They are all listed under the prohibited weapons schedule in the Offensive Weapons Act. I run a legal business that trades in camping tools and adventure equipment. I do not sell weapons or any items of offensive nature that are prohibited by law. thank you. This post has been edited by alqa: Jul 19 2010, 04:21 PM |
