We are located in Asia which is having advantage geographically, I wouldn't think the shipping fee would cost hundreds to arrive. At 999 price tag, it would be the world most expensive nexus 7 without vat or gst..

plus, Asus... being a 'big' company, sure wanna max their profit la... so, no doubt marking up higher...

for me... i'd look into AP units... i'm expecting prices to drop soon.

but i do wonder if they'd bundle in some freebies. I think it was amazon (or one of the big online companies) selling N7 at usd249 but free original N7 case. that's in US la... but still... goes to show we're still not being treated nice enuff... :S

I guess shipping tax? But I'm very sure they markup the price to make profit since ASUS knows that malaysians wants official stuff and since N7 is selling like hotcakes, they want to make a decent profit also la. Their cost to bring in might not be much, but profit margin sure is high

Asus Malaysia will get price lower than USD199 as they are sole distributor. then add kastam tax+shipping+margin . around USD220...tata...RM673...i guess RM699 is the MAX price for retailer

RM899 for 16GB and RM749 for 8GB should be ideal. Maximum price for 16GB should be RM999 whereas 8GB should be RM849. Let's see the official price tomorrow. Going to get this for my birthday , time to reward my self with company bonus.

Asus already got their profit for usd199 8gb and usd249 16gb.

They already make their profit when selling those nexus at the original price. Wonder why they need to mark up another round.
