I think 999 is reasonable..some garage sale sellers were selling it at 1049 if not mistaken even when bring in from US..dont forget the tax that is involved and shipping costs, etc that is involved to bring the tablet in plus profit for asus malaysia too..if they sell at cost price - why bother bringing it in? Doesn't make any sense for them to do that just to sell it for the sake of selling it tongue.gif

Erm, what kind of tax involved? No gst yet..
We are located in Asia which is having advantage geographically, I wouldn't think the shipping fee would cost hundreds to arrive. At 999 price tag, it would be the world most expensive nexus 7 without vat or gst..

man....this was asked so many times.....

google sell this as cost price. they plan make profit when consumer buy lots of stuff from their play store.

in country where play store not fully open, where got profit. so they never plan sell here.
asus bring in because they want profit. 249usd is cost price, so the additional increase is profit for asus.

be reasonable, at price less than 1k, you only can get rubbish china brand tablet.
this is nexus device, will get android update asap as it is released.
quad core tablet, 1280x800 resolution screen (big big noticeable improvement over 1024x600)

if you buy from garage sales, sellers there order from US at 245usd, add shipping cost, and their own profit, also sell around 1k. people want to ear money la
*
so do you mean Google and Asus earn nothing by selling 249 usd in US for the device itself? rclxub.gif

I see. So how much did they ask for the 16GB model? How about 8GB?
*
249.99 usd * 3.1 + Rm 49 shipping = Rm 824 for 16 gb.
8gb is not available in newegg

I know. But the bad thing dealing from online store is that there is no way for you to be sure that you going to get the latest batch.
*
Erm, I reckon the batch number will be at least C9x ... just my estimation tongue.gif
