those fly ties can get from tackle shops, but i was using apollo or sabiki lures with mods.

Quantum is a US brand similar to Lew and pflueger. They have high, mid and low end. Much cheaper compare to shimano and daiwa. Almost like abu, quantum smoke and exoare both very good and light reels, top selling models for both spinning & bc. I expect the price to compete in the abu range of 3xx-5xx for the smoke and prolly 6xx-8xx for the exo model. Hasra akuarium/joran is importing directly from the 1st asia distributors from thailand.
There are some anglers bought online but sold off cos no service and waranty, good to know its available here after 6 months of hunting. Cheap and good, but quality of finishing not perfect.
Smoke is supposedly the best bang for buck while the exo is one of the lightest reel in the marketing competing with mg series, daiwa steez, abu premier for half the price in US. I didnt buy online cos i worry no warranty or parts in our country.

afaik, exo bc no left hand model from US last time. Exo is unique because of the weight reduction, the reel look like a skeleton, holes and caved in here and there. Like a unfinished reel. Same idea applied to the spinning. Its truely an engineers design, but quality bad, edges not sanded down smoothly, paint jobs bad...like pflueger also. Engineer drew and design straight to production line with no qc lol.

Sabiki/apolo hook comes green or white, some with feathers. You can add on whatever you want to it, tie some colourful strips, add silver or gold strips, add flourecent colours.

I find fishing like an art or like culinary, its a about creativity! I tied chicken feathers to a jighead hook and still landed some PBs rofl.

Defeats the purpose then lol
Think I need a 1-3 or 2-4 casting rod for my Saltist (30lb braid)
Might as well wait now as the Sailfish season is closed. sad.gif and see whats new next year

Added on October 15, 2012, 8:18 pm

Yeah i got one with a bump too. Didn't realise thats the male.
Didn't use poppers? I'm a big fan of poppers and visual fishing. And these PB's hit it with gusto man.

Added on October 15, 2012, 8:19 pm

Yeah I'd be keen man. As I was trying to organise but finding info on the net about how too is like drawing water from stone.

u get quite a lot info on OFB, I've done some search and what i know is there are rooms for rent for RM30 a day, with air-cond, u can fish from the lighhouse which is stagnant, or u can ask ur boatman to bring u nearby for biggies, shud be a comfortable trip. boat alone will cost slightly over 100 per pax. apollo for bait fish, bait fish for biggies, never been there but have been reading quite a lot bout it. anything else u need to know bro? if next month the rain slows down, then we can organise a trip

Morning Bro FishOn,
Casting with Saltist is not an easy task, unless you feather manually. I would strongly suggest you to wear a glove for that. Many of the worldwide angler caught a deep cut/de-skinned on the thumb when using no brakes multiplier. The line would cause little backlash and will create a loop out of the spool and thus caught in the thumb. Imagine casting a popper at 150g and the velocity that you put in when casting.... kinda darned bro. Just watch out.

But Saltist would be a good bottom, drift or even jigging reel, no doubt about that. smile.gif

The Eupro rod, is a strongly adviced and bang for bucks rod. Should get it when it's still available. I did a demonstration to bro Viox, at 40deg position and the tip hitting the ground. That shows the parabolic is awesome and not forgetting the strong backbone. smile.gif

My 2 cents worth.

Anything else I need to know? Yes. When are we going? Haha

Sorry there is abit of info but it's generally in malay. What I found anyways. And my Malay not so good these days anymore.

Boatman prices I have no idea. Does the boatman stay with you as well?

Sounds interesting nonetheless.
