guys do you have any idea how to get room without paying to agent?
well, coz most of the time i search on internet, the ppl who posted the room is agent,
which website "clean" from agent?
or any other method to find rooms, beside search in website/forum?
im looking for tampines area
*
You can try to call the agent and ask if there is any agent fees involved. Some agents don't charge (Is not a written rule that all agent charge a fee, you can still nego for a lower fee, 2 month installment, etc.. if you really want the room or you are desperate) . Or you have the time, just go and look at the place with the agent and if there is agent fees, decline the room.

Once I went to the same room posted by 2 different agents with different price, one asking for 1 month rental as agent fee, the other no agent fee, but I didn't take the room and found another place nearby with no agent fee smile.gif.

For firstcoach normally they'll put up the notice on their website. Previously...around 3 weeks ago I did call up firstcoach to ask when will the tickets for CNY be open for purchase..they said call back in another weeks time or check their website for the info.

For Aeroline i think its 30 days in advance only.

For the others...not sure...cause I have not tried the others

But if they not charging the agent fee, they earn commission from the owner by helping them rent out the room? hmm.gif

Hi guys. Will be joining u all in January. So... where's a good place to stay near CBD? I'm looking at queenstown, toa payoh... any other areas that are accessible?
*
Congratulations. Do update your LinkedIn with your new job.

As for where to stay, how do you intend to go to work? I'm 100% dispassionately utilitarian when it comes to this stuff.

- are you going to drive? If so, doesn't matter where you stay although a shorter drive is of course better in all respects.

- are you going to taxi it? Then staying next to a main road or commercial hub is better to get taxis in the morning.

- are you taking the train? If so stay along the same train line as the station nearest your work place. Changing trains is a hassle you don't need.

Staying right next to a bus stop with buses that go to the train station is also workable to reduce rental as you pay a premium for "walking distance to MRT". There's a big bus stop below my block. A good balance between convenience and cost. But you have to put up with the noise of the buses.

- are you taking the bus? If so, stay at places along the express bus routes to the CBD, and close to the bus stop.

- Otherwise, stay around the city center or inner fringe and walk, take a bus or taxi.

probably cos it's got a great price/comfort ratio. if you go any higher on price to the premium busses like Transsstar or Aeroline ... the price sometimes even more expensive than flying budget airline liao

or me though, I always fly, cos I live in east so I'm closer to the airport. and i prefer waiting and hanging around in airports rather than sitting in a bus chair for 5 hours.

Wait a minute...
Aren't you the one who said that your current company has a going concern and might bankrupt soon and you don't want to stick around for that to happen?
Aren't you the one who said that its difficult finding another job?

The Big 4 will be a good choice then.
As long as you're willing to work in teams that have crappy bosses, long hours and no one else wants to join, I don't foresee a reason that they would not want to hire you.

Afterall, you don't have much of a choice and at least a Big 4 on your CV looks better than trying to explain the unemployment gap in your CV
*
Yes what you say is true.

But I also think long term also. As in you can get easily sack in Big Four too (less than 6 months). Anyway then again its not easy to join Big 4 despite the fact that I have audit background.

Your words hold true for those that are really mentally strong unlike me.

Hi everyone, i need help from u guys.

Im going to work in Singapore next month.
Last two days i went for the 2nd interview and got the job offer.
I signed the offer letter, and they immediately help me to apply for employment pass.
The next day, i got a mail from the company HR. She send me a pdf which state that my EP is approved.

According to the pdf, I should submit a request for the issuance of the Employment Pass card.
But before that I will need to apply for my SingPass.

The problem is when i try to apply for my SingPass at Here
It says that my name/SingPass ID/Date of Issue is Invalid.

What should I do now?
Please help.... icon_question.gif
