How about starHub 3G coverage? Their iPhone plan is cheaper.
I tried singTel, the coverage is ok...but speed is quite slow sometime.

I am using Starhub and surfing on LTE network. Intermittent at times but still stable on average. 3G is yesteryear.

SG in general the phones are not locked one. You can get one then immediately change SIM cards. But in order to get the phone "cheap," you'd normally sign up for a 1-year / 2-year contract anyways.

i am not sure which is the best for notes II. but if you are getting 3g plan dont go for starhub. it throttles the speed starting 6pm every weekday. I have problem of drastic connection drop at 6pm SHARP.

Added on December 6, 2012, 6:16 pmBy the way, guys, I actually want to ask can I apply for PR the first few months i start in new company? (have been working in sg for 2.5years)

good drivers, clean buses, reasonable rate, great location, got vid during journey although nvr change 1, chances of meeting leng lui is good... wat more ca u ask for  brows.gif

Haha agree with all the points, I'll go by Firstcoach whenever they have seat for me biggrin.gif
As for good drivers, there was once the driver of the bus I took was quite impatient and keep honking at JB Customs biggrin.gif

1 more thing I like about Firstcoach is every alternate row you get a power outlet to charge your devices... thou seems like now there are more buses comes with power outlet at every row.

QUOTE(deodorant @ Dec 5 2012, 11:24 PM)
probably cos it's got a great price/comfort ratio. if you go any higher on price to the premium busses like Transsstar or Aeroline ... the price sometimes even more expensive than flying budget airline liao

or me though, I always fly, cos I live in east so I'm closer to the airport. and i prefer waiting and hanging around in airports rather than sitting in a bus chair for 5 hours.
*
Haha so envy you all staying in KL, quite convenient to travel back to KL. I'm staying Penang to my only mean of travel is by flight.

But usually for firstcoach it is quite difficult to get a seat for me (most of the time I have to wait until others released their seat), my other alternative would be Causeway link since its near to where I'm staying in SG.

Just check, is Starhub's 3G network really bad? I used Starhub 3G on prepaid previously and its kind of bad (about 2 years ago). So I signed Singtel postpaid instead. Now thinking to switch to M1 after my contract with Singtel due. How is M1's 3G or LTE connection?

Quite convenient for Ipoh too. With Firefly, I can go door to door from my office in Orchard to my house in Ipoh Gdn within 3.5 - 4 hours.

Congratulations. Do update your LinkedIn with your new job.

As for where to stay, how do you intend to go to work? I'm 100% dispassionately utilitarian when it comes to this stuff.

- are you going to drive? If so, doesn't matter where you stay although a shorter drive is of course better in all respects.

- are you going to taxi it? Then staying next to a main road or commercial hub is better to get taxis in the morning.

- are you taking the train? If so stay along the same train line as the station nearest your work place. Changing trains is a hassle you don't need.

Staying right next to a bus stop with buses that go to the train station is also workable to reduce rental as you pay a premium for "walking distance to MRT". There's a big bus stop below my block. A good balance between convenience and cost. But you have to put up with the noise of the buses.

- are you taking the bus? If so, stay at places along the express bus routes to the CBD, and close to the bus stop.

- Otherwise, stay around the city center or inner fringe and walk, take a bus or taxi.
*
I'm going back to audit T__T Hopefully I'll be able to step out after a year.
Most probably train, looking for a place around CBD, probably queenstown.

About RM600 for a return trip and S$20 + RM15 for taxi fare. About 3-4X the price of bus tickets.

Question is... How much do you value your time and convenience? This does avoid an 8-9 hour overnight red eye bus ride... which basically burns one day of your weekend or annual leave each way as well because you're sleepy the entire day.

I think the power outlet is control by the bus driver, they should have the main switch at driver side there, if they never turn on, you have no choice to use it... tongue.gif

M1 LTE is already covered the whole island? so fast? wonder when is starhub..hehe
