You may want to take a look at Edifier DA5000 Pro. By the way, what is the audio source? Is it 5.1 analog outputs from your desktop PC? unsure.gif

That HiVi Swans M60 despite its price tag does not have integrated surround decoders for Dolby Surround and DTS formats, unlike Edifier S760D at almost the same price range (of RM2K+). Also the Edifier S760D has multiple inputs including digital ones... hmm.gif

that all depends on whether he needs those digital outputs, or else it would be a waste of money to spend on those decoders but don't use them biggrin.gif

Would be consider a kinda downgrade (considering the Creative GigaWorks G500 is a much more "expensive quality" speaker). And is your current Creative GigaWorks G500 still working fine? Also what is the main purpose of upgrading those speakers? Is it for better sound quality in music? unsure.gif

been using for 5-6 years, then the woofer start making the noise "boop boop boop[pause] boop boop boop [pause]" *repeat* even im not listening to any song.
and now, it's not working anymore, might be PCB short circuit... but all the satellites are still working fine though (it's inside my store room now)

Yes, I expected that as the Creative GigaWorks G500 speaker commonly becomes problematic. That issue with the woofer is due to very bad degraded glue (becoming conductive) messing up your amplifier circuits. The degraded glue plague inside the subwoofer is pretty bad (loads of it, often very stubborn and in difficult areas such as between I.C pins). I think you are the 7th owner I've came across having problems with this speaker brand and model. Currently working on 3 units at the same time (simultaneously), while had to ask the other owners to wait till I've finished them first... sweat.gif

As for the replacements, if your are looking for 5.1 surround sound system within your budget, then the Edifier DA5000 Pro would be the pick. If you are more inclined to music then I would suggest looking at 2.1 or 2.0/stereo speaker systems such as Edifier Studio series... hmm.gif

Hi, I recently just bought an Asus essence STX for my pc and would like to upgrade my speakers to match it. I'm looking at a 2.1 system. Budget around RM 500, lower would be better but dont mine going slightly higher.

Currently thinking between Logitech Z623, and from this thread, Edifier M3300F. Which one is better for my sound card?

Open to any other suggestions too.

I've been using my Bose Companion 2 Series II since August 2011 and it still runs great to this day. I actually bought it refurbished from the Bose factory outlet store - it was less than RM200 (after conversion from USD) and it still had a 1-year warranty to back it up.

I liked how it blends in aesthetically with my MacBook, and it's very low profile structure which fits in anywhere and doesn't need a big subwoofer to pump out bass. smile.gif

For around that range, that would be Edifier M3300SF. And bit more at around RM290 would be Edifier R1600TIII. If you want Bluetooth functionality, then I would suggest getting a Bluetooth receiver (to pair it with your favorite audio equipment or active speaker system). As for that Edifier M3280BT model, have not heard it yet thus can't comment on its sound quality. As always, try testing/auditioning those speakers first before buying... hmm.gif

What is your current speaker setup? If you have a good soundcard then you may want to look for something more HiFi (and have very good clarity). And for around that RM500 range, Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700) come into the picture. This is closely followed by Edifier M3300SF and Edifier Studio 6 (a.k.a Edifier R2600). And the Logitech Z623 isn't exactly great in the clarity part (primarily due to lack of real tweeters), and its strength is just mostly bass only... wink.gif

Yes, quite familiar with this speaker and for its tiny size it does have some bass. But IMHO the bass isn't that great actually (not enough low frequency coverage). I suggest checking out Edifier Luna Eclipse E25 and/or Edifier Exclaim E10. You'll be surprised how well these speakers reproduce bass frequencies considering their size. They also have better highs due to having tweeters... brows.gif

I don't really listen to bass-heavy songs like others from my age group, mostly classical, jazz, or anything before the year 2000. I think it serves my purpose really well. I just checked out the Edifiers you mentioned, may consider it in the future brows.gif . However, let's say I want to bump my game up in the future and buy speakers in the $300 USD price range, what would you recommend? Given my musical preferences, that is. I'm somewhat partial to the Bose lineup, but I'm always ready to welcome other brands into my family. biggrin.gif

Those Edifiers uses passive radiator design (for bass) instead of the tuned port design found on the Bose Companion 2 Series II. Since you've mentioned mentioned the word "aesthetically", those Edifier models came into thought... icon_idea.gif

Too big of a budget range there but if you have the desk space then I would recommend either Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700, highly recommended), Edifier Studio 8 (a.k.a Edifier R2800), Klipsch Promedia 2.1 (2.1 speaker system), HiVi Swans M10 (also 2.1 speaker system) or HiVi Swans M50W (also another 2.1 speaker system). As always, do audition/test them before buying... hmm.gif

The Edifier R1600TIII has a secondary input (that can be used for an external Bluetooth receiver) plus should have better midrange compared to Edifier M3300SF. If you are not willing to spend that extra RM50 (and use that for Bluetooh receiver budget) then can stick with Edifier M3300SF... wink.gif

The cables are included with the speaker package, and they are usually pretty adequate. If you are afraid of audio degradation then can get more expensive 3rd party cables or DIY ones (with thicker cables and gold plated connectors). brows.gif
