As the world's biggest and richest club, Manchester United reach a global fanbase.

Part of the attraction for fans around the world has been the football luminaries, such as George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton, who have graced the Old Trafford turf in a Manchester United shirt over the years.

Recently, Manchester United have continued to attract or develop some of the game's biggest names, with England stalwarts such as Paul Scholes and David Beckham having been regular fixtures in the Reds line-up.

The Manchester United team, past and present, reads like a who's who of world football.

It is only fitting that a great team should grace a great stadium. And with Old Trafford's recent development and the closure of Wembley, the ground is easily the largest in English football, holding in excess of 60,000 fans.

Despite this capacity, the demand to see United in action is so great that tickets are hard to come by.

But it isn't only Manchester United fans who flock to Old Trafford. The standard of the ground is such that it regularly hosts high-profile games, most notably, the Champions League Final and Great Britain rugby league games.

Rock fans have also made use of the Reds's facilities, watching a number of high-profile acts at the ground.

But it's football that will forever be synonymous with the Reds famous ground - and with good reason.

The last decade has seen Manchester United under the shrewd leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson maintain a virtual stranglehold on the Premiership crown.

Manchester United has won the league no fewer than 18 times in their history. They are also Cup Kings too, winning the FA cup 11 times, the league cup 4 times, as well as winning the European Super Cup, European Cup Winner's Cup, and 3 times being crowned European Cup champions.

Manchester United has long become a name associated with success both on and off the pitch.

As club profits continue to grow, Manchester United have become one of the richest sports clubs on the planet.

With supporters club branches on every continent, it's hard to go any where in the world and not see somebody wearing the famous red shirt of Manchester United.

QUOTE(zenix @ Nov 24 2009, 09:18 PM)
Hope Alien will sticky this info later.
Though written in 2006 so no Roy Keane yet.

Ex-United players that have moved on to become managers.

Written by Simon Stone (MARCH 22, 2006)

STEVE BRUCE (1987-1996): Took his first steps in management with Sheffield United in 1998, then swiftly moved on to Huddersfield, Wigan and Crystal Palace. Left Selhurst Park in acrimonious fashion after Birmingham targeted him as the replacement for Trevor Francis in 1991. Took Blues into the Premier League but after a heavy FA Cup defeat is struggling to keep his job.

MARTIN POWELL (1971-1983): Stylish and well-respected Scotland centre-half whose authoritative nature appeared to make him a natural for the management game. Lasted four months at Burnley.

SIR BOBBY CHARLTON (1956-1973): Arguably the finest English player of all time proved to be an unmitigated disaster as a manager. Claimed he was not given the resources to make a decent job of it at Preston but was never lured back into management following his departure after a single season.

STEVE COPPELL (1975-1983): After a knee injury cut his playing career short at just 28, Coppell turned his attention to management. Steered Crystal Palace into the FA Cup final and then third place in the old First Division - the Eagles' highest ever - the following season. It was the first of four stints in charge at Selhurst Park in a career which has seen him move to Manchester City (for only six games), Brentford and Brighton. Now at Reading and about to steer the Royals into the top flight for the first time.

PADDY CRERAND (1962-1971): A key figure in United's 1968 European Cup triumph, Crerand lasted five months at Northampton before getting the bullet and, like Charlton, never managed again.

MARK HUGHES (1983-86, 1988-95): Hughes was never tipped as a manager by Ferguson but has taken to the game with ease. Took Wales into the Euro 2004 play-offs. Took over at Blackburn shortly afterwards, steering Rovers away from danger in his first season. Currently in contention for a Champions League spot.

BRIAN KIDD (1967-1974): Another European Cup winner who proved to be a poor manager. Got itchy feet in 1998 after spending seven years as Sir Alex Ferguson's highly-rated assistant. Took command at Blackburn but dismissed six months later.

BRYAN ROBSON (1981-94): United's inspirational leader under Ron Atkinson and Ferguson. There are two schools of thought on his stint at Middlesbrough - he either spent lots and achieved little (relegation and two losing finals) or he laid the platform for the Teessiders to become an established Premiership outfit. Kept West Brom up in extraordinary fashion last year but back in trouble again this season.

GORDON STRACHAN (1984-89): Scotland international who won the FA Cup with United and the title of the pre-Premiership era with Leeds. Sacked after five years at when the Sky Blues lost top-flight status, then enjoyed success at Southampton - reaching the 2003 Cup final - before resigning to spend more time with his family. Now at Celtic, has recovered from a humiliating Champions League exit to Artmedia Bratislava, and, after winning his first trophy on Sunday in the CIS Insurance Cup, is set to clinch the Scottish Premier League.

NOBBY STILES (1960-71): Along with Charlton, one of only two Englishmen to have won the World Cup and European Cup, he replaced his former England and United team-mate at Preston, with limited success. After a brief stint in Vancouver, returned to England to take over as manager of West Brom. Sacked after five months, having gained just three wins.

Hey guys, just bought both new home and away 2012/2013 jerseys from nike itself. Love it but i'm just curious.. I went to the Manchester United Official Facebook away kit explorer, it shows that their jersey has "T Bar Junction" and "Laser Cut Side Panel". Mine however is missing.. any ideas?
Or is that only available for the player's issue jersey and not for the replicas

Personally, I think Nani worth around 30m only, give max also worth 35m, based on his 5 years performance with us. Go higher than 35m is affected by inflated market price already. unsure.gif

i read it on ch818 yesterday, "Zenit set to complete 25 mil Man Utd's Nani".. i was shocking shocking.gif totally disappointed if its true.. that price are too low. and the lure are from Zenit, not some mega clubs like Barca /Madrid.

Nani is probably the most talented winger we got. i rate his talent as good as Rooney and RVP, and might reach world class status in a year or two.

but so far no confirmation yet.. hold my breath sweat.gif

During CR7 time at MU, nani haven't reach his true potential. now differentlah, on his day, he really can terrorise opponent's defence..SAF better keep him, beside him, we only got young, valencia as wingers. I doubt CR7 will ever come back. Unless MU owners strike rich or CR7 willing to take pay-cut.. icon_idea.gif

Russian transfer deadline has passed, so Nani will going nowhere.. with Young injured, LW spot are Nani's with Welbeck and Giggs provide cover.

if SAF still put Welbeck ahead of Nani, there's definitely a problem between Nani and SAF (contract issue). the early excuse was, Nani isnt fit enough.

Wayne Rooney voices regret at submitting transfer request at Manchester United two years ago

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney says submitting a transfer request at Old Trafford two years ago was the biggest mistake of his career.

Rooney issued a statement in September 2010 in which he questioned the Red Devils' ability to attract top players and indicated he wanted to leave because the club could not match his ambitions.

Two days later, though, the England international performed a dramatic U-turn and signed a new five-year contract at Old Trafford.

He looks back on the whole affair now with a sense of regret.

In his latest autobiography, which is being serialised by the Daily Mirror, he recalls: "In September 2010 my ankle puts me on the sidelines.

"I get frustrated with myself, my game, my injury, and everything around me.

"I'm stuck in a cycle of bad form but I can't get out of it.

"And that's when I make the biggest mistake of my football career.

"In October, I release a statement which publicly questions my happiness at Old Trafford. Am I better off elsewhere?

"Everyone makes a fuss. There are discussions inside United to sort out the issue, people outside United chuck their opinions around, but the thing is, nobody really knows what's going on in my life.

"None of them understand where I am in my career. They don't know where my head's at.

"The only person who really knows what's going on in there is me, but even I'm not sure what I want."

He added of the involvement of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson in his decision to stay: "Then the manager has his say. 'Sometimes you look in a field and you see a cow and you think it's a better cow than the one you have in your own field. And it never really works that way'.

"He's saying the grass isn't always greener, and he's right.

"I like what's in my field. I'm wrong. United want the same as me: trophies, success, to be the best."

Defuq?!! Can't believe Cleverley, Welbeck & Walcott still wanna tiki taka even they already in/near the penalty box.

Btw, Welbeck look good when he come on. Cleverley? Hardly see him with the ball. sad.gif

Rugi la we missed on Baines. Really good offensively & defensively.

-------------------------

I was wrong about Cleverley because everyone seems to praise him.

didn't necessarily mean he wants to move to UCL participant clubs, could mean he's eager to help Everton progress to UCL next season.

RvP's goal vs Turkey.

I hope he stops taking corners for us, let somebody else take corners and let him be at the receiving end because his headers are accurate with excellent technique.
The problem is that some corners taken by Nani vs Soton were not so good, except for the 3rd goal or course.

EXCLUSIVE: Nightmare for Jones as United defender set for lengthy layoff after ANOTHER injury setback

QUOTE
Manchester United and England defender Phil Jones has suffered yet another injury setback.

The 20-year-old hobbled out of United's Carrington training ground on crutches after injuring his right leg on Thursday and now looks set for another spell on the sidelines.

It is a bitter blow for Jones who has only just returned to training after he was ruled out of United's first three games because of back spasms.

Jones was also unavailable for Roy Hodgson England side, who demolished a poor Moldova team 5-0 on Friday evening.

The problem forced him to fly home from the United's pre-season tour of Scandinavia, but last week Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that Jones had resumed light training after a period of rest appeared to have cured the problem.

The latest injury problem for Jones is one of many he has sustained during his short tenure at United.

The club have had to make do without the former Blackburn man against Everton, Fulham and Southampton and look set to be without the versatile defender for some time yet.

Jones joined United from Blackburn for £16.5million in January last year and has made 29 appearances for the club.

The United manager is still without another England defender in Chris Smalling, but Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans both returned to the United squad for the 3-2 win at Southampton last weekend.

Jones set for lengthy rehab

Phil Jones is set for a sustained spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a knee injury sustained in training.

A club spokesperson told ManUtd.com: "Phil Jones has had surgery on a knee meniscus tear sustained in training that will require six to eight weeks of rehabilitation."

The 20-year-old has yet to make an appearance this season after suffering a back injury during the Reds' pre-season tour.

Fellow defender Chris Smalling remains sidelined after breaking a metatarsal, but Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand have recently bolstered the Reds' defensive ranks after returning from their own injuries.

don't worry, we still have Carrick and Fletcher to be our CB laugh.gif

I just now remember that few years back I thought Fletcher would fit in well to be our RB hmm.gif he had few appearances there, with lots of training I don't doubt he will do good there.

Let's just hope Jones and Smalling would be available and match-fit during the month of Nov-Dec where the games are scheduled to be played closed to each other. For the time being, Rio-Vida-Evans, and maybe Carrick should be enough to play there. Let's hope no more injuries after this.

Mirror?no thanks. But I can see if SAF frustrated with Nani's consistency and willing to gamble on welbeck as ashley back up.

But I still think Nani is one of hell talent apart from two monsters in La Liga.would be sad if he is leaving with bad terms.United still need Nani for creativity spark from wings

For me, it is partly mind games from United to Nani. Nani asked ridiculously high wages just so Zenit would reject him eventhough United accepted the bid. It is more of a hint to Nani that he is not indispensable. Hopefully this will turn things around for Nani and he will be more focused for the remainder of the season.

Northern Ireland are hoping key defender Jonny Evans will be fit to face Luxembourg on Tuesday despite concerns over his ankle injury.

Evans had ankle surgery in the summer and was in some pain during the 2-0 defeat in Russia on Friday.

There could be a club-against-country conflict as Sir Alex Ferguson will not want any risks taken with the Manchester United player's fitness.

NI manager O'Neill will be desperate to have him available at Windsor Park.

Having lost the opening World Cup qualifying match, the pressure is on Northern Ireland to take maximum points at home to the lowest seeded nation in Group F.

O'Neill said there had been no contact with Manchester United over Evans, adding: "We have no major concerns over Jonny but we just have to manage him between now and Tuesday.

"If there was any risk, we wouldn't take that risk and neither would Jonny."

Evans has yet to feature for Manchester United this season but was thrust straight into O'Neill's starting XI for the match in Moscow.

Well phil jones is definately out for couple of months. Evans just got back from injury and got knock at his ankle but he said hes alright and might even feature for the next qualifier. Smalling is currently going through rehabilitation and will not be back so soon. One more injury at the back will be red alert to be honest with cl coming middle of next week.

Well, of course, that's the aim for the newspapers. To make the news "hot" to sell their papers. Gossips and rumours.

I rather take hints from any of the two men: SAF or Ronaldo himself saying that if the move is possible or not.

Manchester United hope new medical centre will help address their recent injury problems
Manchester United are aiming to address their recent injury problems by opening a state-of-the-art £13 million medical centre at the club’s Carrington training ground in November.

QUOTE
The facility is expected to fast-track Sir Alex Ferguson’s players back to fitness and ensure quicker, and more private, injury diagnosis on site rather than rely on nearby hospitals.
The medical centre, which will be supplied with CT and MRI scanners and other cutting-edge equipment as part of a five-year agreement with the Japanese company Toshiba, is set to be the first of its kind in the Premier League, with Manchester United planning to emulate the physiological and sports science benefits enjoyed by AC Milan at their world-renowned Milanello complex.
Research carried out at the end of last season by the sports injury website physioroom.com showed that United suffered the worst injury list in the Premier League during the 2011-12 campaign, with the club suffering 39 significant problems – those lasting for at least two weeks – which amounted to a total 1,681 days lost to injury by Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad.
In comparison, champions Manchester City suffered just seven significant injuries, costing Roberto Mancini’s squad a total of 186 days lost to injury.

United manager Ferguson issued a staunch defence of the club’s medical team last season following criticism from former midfielder Owen Hargreaves over his treatment during lengthy injury problems, with the Scot insisting “some of the best sports medical staff in world sport” are employed at Old Trafford.

In the absence of Evans, Jones, Smalling and, for the first two games of the season, Rio Ferdinand, midfielder Michael Carrick began the season at the heart of the United defence. Even with Evans and Ferdinand available, Ferguson only has three fit central defenders at least until the next international break, if not longer.

Fletcher to face Celtic

Darren Fletcher and summer signing Alexander Büttner have been named in a strong Manchester United XI squad for this evening's friendly match away to Stalybridge Celtic.

The pair are joined in the party by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, defenders Michele Fornasier, Michael Keane and Tom Thorpe, midfielders Ryan Tunnicliffe, Davide Petrucci, Larnell Cole and Jesse Lingard, while Federico Macheda will lead the attack after scoring twice in the Under-21s' last league win over Tottenham Hotspur. Further additions to the squad will be made later.

Kagawa injury doubt for United

Manchester United have been handed an injury worry after Shinji Kagawa pulled out of Japan's World Cup qualifier against Iraq with a reported back problem.

Kagawa was withdrawn from the game an hour before kick-off as a result of a problem he had sustained in training. Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni had felt he was fit enough to take a place on the bench but opted not to risk the former Borussia Dortmund player. Japan won the game 1-0 courtesy of a Ryoichi Maeda goal in the 25th minute.

The midfielder joined United in the summer after helping Dortmund win back-to-back Bundesliga titles and made an immediate impression at Old Trafford, scoring on his home debut against Fulham. United host Wigan on Saturday and it remains to be seen if Kagawa will be able to feature. Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher will continue his comeback from a serious bowel problem when he plays for a United reserve team against Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday night. Summer signing Alexander Buttner, who was brought to the club to be Patrice Evra's deputy at left-back, is also set to start.

Why doomed? Have you forget that we have Welbeck, Hernandez? If Kagawa is out, we still have Nani, Valencia, Anderson, Scholes. Not sure why we should be "doomed" though. It's not like the entire first team is effected.

Although I would prefer "first-choice" players like Robin and Kagawa to play, but surely you can't expect them to play every single game each season.

Hey any one watched the qualifier yesterday? Is per injured? Was it his ankle or knee? Is it serious? If he is injured and without ron, ale goin to put her and wel partnership upfront. Giving nan a start would be good too. Cool down the air abit in old trafford.

Oh yeah laugh.gif

I read in soccernet persie was subbed out due to some knock on his thigh. I bet they wana bikin suspense only. He should feature this weekend. Hopefully. With him around the pitch, the feeling of united getting goals is quite high. He will top scorer again if he is fit throughout the season. I bet arsenal must feel sengal if that happen.

with our better supply line, hard to think that he can't score more (he could easily had 5 goals vs Southampton)

If RVP really injured sure gg liao, Chicharito can only score from inside 6 yards box and Wellbeck can't put the ball inside net even with 5 one on one chance inside 6 yards box

Don't underestimate chicharito, just look at his goals during his first season with us. He's has been injured most of the time last season and he probably needs more games. Yes, he may be only able to play centre forward, but he's deadly inside the penalty box...

hmm.gif i don't why you guys want to criticize Chica to such length.

He's a great talent and still young. The impact he made during his first season shows albeit his second season like many others have said he was injured most of the season. Coupled with SAF wanting to play Wellbeck and Rooney together because of their link up play hampered his chances to play more rclxub.gif

well when will Chicharito get his game time when every time the reason he is dropped is due to "haven't played for very long time"?

we should not be pressing the panic button just because RvP may not be fit enough to play, his replacement are Welbeck and Hernandez, not Chamakh/Park Chu Yong

I was just hoping that rvp can first pair up with chicha or welbeck first instead of fielding them both for the wigan game but ofcourse provided theres no doubt in rvps fitness. Hernandez did score for mexico that day so no panic just preference laugh.gif

Hey and i think chamakh can be very good partnering rvp laugh.gif

Too much playing games I guess. Unlike games, players will face injury, and by the time they come back, it take them sometime to back to the best form they are before.

Btw, in the game you can have Rio to running non stop. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Wanna see Buttner play this week. Let Evra rest for CL. I wanna see Chica play! Miss him!

Unfortunately... my fantasy team has both Kagawa and RVP in it. cry.gif Oh wells, it's fantasy. The real team matters more!

put RVP on bench even he's fit to play. i expect Kagawa also need some rest. Welbeck and Hernandez are fit and eager to prove something to the gaffer. hope Nani will get a start and start banging some goals. he's deserve to get a better contract and put wild speculations into bed.

my line up

DDG

Rafael-Ferdinand-Vidic-Evra

Valencia-Anderson-Cleverley-Nani

Welbeck-Hernandez

sub:AL, Buttner, Evans, Carrick, Giggs, Scholes, RVP

Carrick come in to beef up MF and play with a lone striker () when we in comfortable position.

Giggs /Scholes /RVP to save the day if we screw up.

Evra will most likely be rested with the upcoming CL and Liv match. He's not that young anymore with the internationals going on.

As for Nani, like what I've always mentioned, he'll need to bulk up and play more consistently if he wants to gain his starting place. When he's consistent, he's a really good player but sometimes, I'm not too sure what he's trying to do as well.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney describes wrath of manager Sir Alex Ferguson

Wayne Rooney says feeling the full force of Sir Alex Ferguson's rage is 'horrible', but has admitted he sometimes shouts back.

Ferguson is famous for giving his players the 'hairdryer' treatment when they are not performing to the required standard, and Rooney admits he has been on the receiving end on several occasions.

The striker says his manager is still a formidable figure, even if he sometimes decides to disagree and answer back.

"There's nothing worse than getting the 'hairdryer' from Sir Alex," Rooney said in his autobiography My Decade, as reported in The Daily Mirror.

"When it happens, the manager stands in the middle of the room and loses it at me. He gets right up in my face and shouts.

"It feels like I've put my head in front of a BaByliss Turbo Power 2200. It's horrible.

"I don't like getting shouted at by anyone. It's hard for me to take, so sometimes I shout back.

"I tell him he's wrong and I'm right."

Rooney says some players struggle to recover from a blast of Ferguson's anger and their confidence remains shattered.

"It spurs some of the lads on, but it crushes others," he explained.

"I've seen the manager shout and scream at people and when they've gone back on the pitch their heads have dropped. They've lost it."

Rooney recalls that Louis Saha was subjected to one of Ferguson's most explosive rants following a 1-0 loss to Celtic in a UEFA Champions League game in 2006, while he got caught in the crossfire.

"It's the worst 'hairdryer' I've seen," said Rooney. "He's in Louis' face, shouting and screaming.

"But Louis isn't the only one getting an earful.

"The manager knows I've been negotiating a new deal with the club and he saves some for me, 'Players wanting more money from the club and new deals - you don't deserve anything after that performance!'"

Sir Alex on team news for the Wigan match: "On the injury front, everyone's fit, Apart from the ones we know about - Jones and Smalling. Jones was a bad blow for us. He got an injury in training last wekend. He'll be out for 8-10 weeks. We expect Smalling to be back training inside a month. But with Jonny Evans now back we're in better shape at centre-back than we were a couple of weeks ago."

On players returning from internationals: "You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks - we had Chicharito, Valencia and Kagawa. They've all done it before, although with Shinji we don't know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he'll be okay."

On Darren Fletcher: "Darren's training well and played in the Reserves on Monday night. The next step is when we can involve him in a game in the first team. He's in the squad tomorrow, simply because I think it will give him a boost. It's a chance to progress. At this moment in time everything's going fine for him. We understand the condition he has to deal with - that can change but hopefully he's managed to conquer it in terms of his diet and how he handles it. Things are going well at the moment."

On facing Liverpool next week after the Hillsborough report: "It shouldn't need what happened this players for their thoughts on a busy week ahead with games against Wigan, Galatasaray and Liverpool in the space of eight days.

Injury boost for Reds

Summer signings Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa are fit for the Barclays Premier League visit of Wigan Athletic on Saturday, but Phil Jones could be sidelined for up to 10 more weeks.

There was speculation van Persie and Kagawa could miss the game after picking up strains on international duty in midweek, but Sir Alex has confirmed they will be available to face the Latics.

The news is not so good for Jones, who recently underwent surgery on a knee injury sustained in training, but Chris Smalling is not far off a return to action. Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher has been included in the squad as he continues his recovery from illness.

"On the injury front, everyone's fit, apart from the ones we know about – Jones and Smalling," said Sir Alex at his Friday press conference.

"Jones was a bad blow for us. He got an injury in training last weekend and he'll be out for eight to 10 weeks.

"We expect Smalling to be back training by the end of the month. There's a little bit of comfort in that sense, given our centre-back situation. But with Jonny [Evans] back we're in a better position than we were a couple of weeks ago.

"Darren's in the squad tomorrow, simply because I think it will give him a boost. It's a chance to progress. At this moment in time everything's going fine for him."

The Reds boss expressed his concern about the distances his players travelled with their respective countries in midweek, with Japan's Kagawa, Ecuador's Antonio Valencia and Mexico's Javier Hernandez all involved in long-haul trips for World Cup qualifiers.

"You always have concerns about players travelling in international breaks – we had Chicharito, Valencia and Kagawa," he said.

"They've all done it before, although with Shinji we don't know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he'll be okay."

There must have been a very big cheque given to him to say the exact name. laugh.gif
Unless he's so paranoid in the last year or so about his 'hair'.

QUOTE(beck_ken @ Sep 14 2012, 08:41 PM)
Fletcher in bench for tomorrow game. RVP and Kagawa mostly also start against Wigan. Good news for us biggrin.gif
*
Doubt he'll be on the bench so soon unless we have injury problems. He's been out for a long time.

DDG
Rafael-Rio-Vida-Buttner
Valencia-Scholes-Carrick-Nani
Kagawa
RVP

Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Evra, Cleverley, Ando, Welbeck, Chicha..

Young is out injured right? Maybe Giggs will play instead on Nani/Valencia.

SAF said Fletcher is in the squad for today's game vs Wigan, so I guess it means he will be on the bench.

He might be in the squad but not necessary in the 18 man list when come to the game.

In C1 Cup, I think Ferguson mostly field youngsters more so that can rest few key players before play against Spurs at home.

If our defence is tight, should have no problems against Gala. That and the chop and change.
Liverpool will always be hard no matter what situation they're in.
Newcastle cup game.. That won't be easy if we play the fringe players.
Spurs at home we should win comfortably IMO.

lucky thing is 3 out of 4 of them will be at Old Trafford, providing SAF wont be dicking around with the formation/player selection like last season, we should be able to come out of those alright

The injury problems might be a blessing in that regard. laugh.gif
But we still have tons of options upfront and in midfield. RVP, Rooney, Kagawa, Welbeck, Chicharito figting for two positions. Lovely.

Added on September 15, 2012, 2:26 pmDdg/Lindegaard
Rafael, Rio, Vida, Evans, Evra, Buttner
Valencia, Young, Nani, Giggs
Scholes, Carrick, Ando, Cleverley, Powell, Fletcher
Rvp, Kagawa, Rooney, Welbeck, Chicharito

I'm sure we would be able to put a strong team out against Newcastle from that squad unless Powell and Fletcher starts in midfield. Both not ready yet for different reasons.

Hope Buttner plays tonight. See what he's made of. Time to rest Evra as well to get ready for the hard games ahead.

if Newcastle also saving their energy for the league then it will be more or less equal playing field, or else it will be hard if they field their strongest team while we play our youngsters+fringe players (as what we did all those years)

Left-back Alexander Buttner makes his debut for Manchester United against Wigan. Paul Scholes makes his 700th appearance for the club, Rio Ferdinand his 400th and Ryan Giggs makes his 600th Premier League appearance. There is no Shinji Kagawa for the home side, though. Nor does Robin van Persie start, but is on the bench.

Good goals from the players. (I wonder, there has been misses of penalties but the players managed to score again. What's with the trend? - -")

Players verdict: (Not all)

Buttner had a not good but great game on his debut. (But he has to be careful sometimes. Luckily for us, he's fast enough and he does his job quite well.)

Nani, still needs time to be more consistent but overall, a good game. (His runs, his pass that led to Scholes's goal etc are good enough for me).

Welbeck - Not a bad game for an improving young star from the team. Still, he needs to make better decisions at times.

Chica - Once again, our strikers miss a penalty and scores in return. (What a scary way. sweat.gif )

Overall, a good performance from the team today. A clean sheet for the defenders is always a good thing and scores from def, mid and strikers are always welcomed. biggrin.gif

I disagree on " we have our own version of RAMSEY", Not to criticize on other club players, but ramsey is still not well establish player like OUR very OWN LEGEND Paul Scholes, I still don't see anyone able to fit in Scholes boot at the moment. Think about it, And your sig...update pls!

Hey,i dont compare ramsey with our own Scholes, im comaring our new lad powell with ramsey(to be more precise, his days b4 femur break)...both has similar style of play methink

as for sig, what's wrong with it,it's not politically motivated, sexually arousing nor otherwise gore..,

Feel funny after Buttner score and the camera show Evra's expression. He look so worry laugh.gif

Good performance from lads for 2nd half. Buttner is my man of the match, can defend and attack well. A bit like Heinze for me. hmm.gif

And congrats for Scholes to score the goal for his 700th appearances. notworthy.gif

Regarding your sig, i wish that if u're a Manchester United fan and also RVP, why don't just update RVP playing in the iconic red devils jersey? that would be great right? but still it's up to u bro.

Good performance from lads for 2nd half. Buttner is my man of the match, can defend and attack well. A bit like Heinze for me. hmm.gif

And congrats for Scholes to score the goal for his 700th appearances. notworthy.gif

Brilliant for the buttner lad. mesmerizing. At least, Evra gonna get a good and healthy competition for his position.

don't know what welbeck was thinking for the dive. Hopefully he will get a good hairdryer.

Nani had a good game tonight but his decision making sometimes makes me infuriating. overall, great second half.

proves that a good depth tonight and will be tested this week

Highlights

didn't watch the match was at the movies today, just watched the highlights.
welbeck looks abit useless today.
first was what seem like dive to me for the penalty.
second was before scholes goal, instead of teeing off for a team mate he was trying to turn 360 to hammer it home.
third before chicha goal, he like wanna dive again in the penalty box.
fourth before powells goal, he didn't wanna through ball for RVP then got himself out numbered 3 to 1, then fall again.

lucky each time he made a wrong decision things turn up nicely for us if not he would be demonized for being a diver & selfish.

He is indeed dive alot. Luckily he is an English. But well, at some point he might end up like Young. Just like SAF said, he might have a penalty in the future but will not receive it for the reputation he has as a diver.

welbeck is a striker nonetheless(he's more of a wide forward, but still) than a winger so the selfishness is vital for his game.he still need to improve end product though.perhaps both Van Persie and our fav lad Chicharito could show him some pointers

if there is one guy who need to be less selfish,it's nani

Nani been selfish alright, but he do know when he need to be selfish and when to not. Its not like he did it all throughout the game. He know when to bang a goal, when he have a space.

On a side note, he's really not putting on his shooting boot today. The space is there, but hell did he think he's playing rugby? sweat.gif

Welbeck is one of the most unselfish strikers out there. If he is a bit more selfish in his play(ie, go for goal a bit more), he would get more goals.

Added on September 16, 2012, 4:05 amAs for his 'dive'.. it went really fast and he just loses his balance probably. And the GK did touched him a bit.

I must have watched a different game I guess. I thought we did pretty well in the first half. Reading around it seems it was like the first few games.. boring, pedestrian, not much chances.. but it was far from it IMO. Maybe it was because of expectation. Thought it was shit, but then its in fact a lot better hoho.

Ive said this many times...Powell's goal are mostly long shot. He did it again tonite.

He is like Gibson(before trigger happy, went to shit) and Lampard. Left or right, they know how to hit them sweetly.

QUOTE(johnny82 @ Sep 15 2012, 11:49 PM)

without his first goal man utd look so shaky
*
Hardly shaky. Most comfortable game we've been in even including pre season so far even before the goals. I guess it says a lot about the quality(lack of) of Wigan(away) I suppose.

Welbeck played well for the most part, minus the goal scoring bit.
Good to see Nani turning it on now and then. Still frustrating, but he will always create chances. Get a goal pls soon. Might speed up getting your form back!
Buttner was awesome. Remains to be seen whether he can defend well yet or not. So far so good, but the likes of Southampton, West Ham, Crouch, Fellaini etc will look to exploit him in the air.. that will be a true test for him. Going forward tho fuuuh. Can dribble, fast, can cross the ball, shows no fear as well getting stuck in, and we still haven't seen his shooting boot yet. He has a rocket launcher. Should have let him take the penalty.

Debutants impress at OT

QUOTE
Debutants Alexander Büttner and Nick Powell opened their goalscoring accounts during the 4-0 win against Wigan Athletic with Sir Alex Ferguson also spotting plenty of other positive aspects in their play.

After Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa netted on their first appearance for the Reds at Old Trafford, the new signings are wasting little time endearing themselves to the home supporters.

"Some of Büttner's play was good but I think he was a little bit rash at times," the manager admitted to MUTV. "He has a great engine and great enthusiasm for the game but he's raw with a lot of rough edges there.

"We think we can develop that and hopefully he can be a really good addition to the team. He scored a lot of goals in Holland and was determined enough to get that goal. It was a little bit lucky, I don't know if it got a deflection or not, but he showed his willingness to get in there and deserved it."

Powell continues to earn plaudits from Sir Alex after taking his impressive training-ground work onto the big stage.

"Nick Powell is going to be a really good player who, we hope, will fill Paul Scholes' boots in terms of he's got terrific vision, good temperament, two great feet, is quick and is a great striker of the ball. For a boy of 18, he's not 19 until next March, it's been a terrific day for him."
http://www.manutd.com/en/RobinVanPersieLanding/VanPersieNews/2012/Sep/sir-alex-ferguson-discusses-powell-and-buttner-debut-goals.aspx

High praise there for Powell. His development will be very interesting. He won't be another Scholes(the passing maestro) obviously, but other parts of his game is pretty impressive. The shooting, composure.. we'll see once he settles down and improve a bit as he gets older whether his passing game is anything more than just decent.

of course Rafael didn't bomb forward as often as he usually does when he plays with Valencia since it was Nani there laugh.gif hence he didn't spend lot of energy and became more stable.

anyway, to be fair, despite Welbeck's selfishness he should be praised also for the fact that he did track back and going down to defend a lot at that game

Good game for Welbeck. Not great, but still good. He does track ball back. Hernandez are hardworking too. Especially if he is the one who lose the ball.

I don't think Welbeck is selfish. Not all the time. But when he did, often it is a 80% converted goal for the player he should pass to. I still mad at him for not passing to Persie. Persie is definitely clear, have space and the only defender near him are in front of him distance himself from Persie. But what the hell, 4 - 0. rclxm9.gif

i keep wondering, what do the players say when they score a goal?

seems like Scholes (as per the picture posted by alien) is saying,

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" while pointing at the fans.

the problem for welbeck is

controlling ball
discussion maker
and finishing
read the game (read where he team gonna pass the ball)

in all honesty welbeck has not been impressing me with his games. unfortunately he sucks at the moment but maybe SAF sees something we dont. like fletcher god knows took how long for him to come good and he came good in a game vs chelsea which was damn good that time and single handedly owned them

belia tetap benci That Kid.

here's hoping Sang Punggung starts more games for United. Wigan was a tough one, but easy to crack. the real games are Tottenham and the CL, and that's where I hope to see the new signings perform extremely well.

the problem for welbeck is

controlling ball
discussion maker
and finishing
read the game (read where he team gonna pass the ball)

that is the problem ,

Nani and Rooneys touch can be real shit too. Welbecks touch is a lot more consistent compared to Rooneys.
Decision making..see Nani. Already 25/26, but still absolutely frustrating. Welbeck is 21/22, so it'll get better in time.
Reading the game: see above.

As for his finishing, he's no Hernandez/Ole etc and probably never will be a prolific one, but he'll get his fair share. RVP wasn't a goal machine at the same age.

With Welbeck, since he doesnt have the end product to show(goals), most people just don't rate him.
Same thing happened when he first broke through. Its on the dislike/hate level. He just need to add a bit more goals to his game, and soon enough he'll win over the doubters. Might take a few more seasons tho for it to happen. See RVP's record.

Right now he plays well enough. Link up is good mostly, he works hard and is involved a lot in our attacking moves..just missing the goals.

Everyone can be real shit, even messi.
Welbeck was awful last nite. No end product and decision making was terrible. He could have played it simple but make it difficult. He has to look at himself. Keep playing like this and he will be playing in league cup.

Works hard and involved in team play doesn't mean that you are playing well.

Gv chica and rvp starting slots better, welbeck got lots to learn from them. If he continues wasting chance after chance, it'll be costly at the end of the season.

Need to continue run of games to rvp, he's in good form. Shouldn't rotate him while he's fit imo.

Before Nani got fouled up by McArthur (yellow), impressive tackle by Chicharito twice and then Scholes lunged in to get the ball

just to let Nani received the ball before collision with McArthur.

good time for tackles

Reading some of the posts in the last few pages, I really don't know if we were watching the same match.

Welbeck was poor? How can that be? While he didn't score, he was very, very involved with a lot of United's good attacking plays. He even helped defend. I thought he had a good game. If he got a goal, it would have been a great game. Just because he missed a fancy volley, all of a sudden he has poor decision making? Come on. I agree it was a poor decision, but many many other players, Rooney, Berbatov, have all done this with no complaints and this was just one incident in 90 minutes of football. If he was really poor, he wouldn't be involved with so much of our dangerous attacking plays. Welbeck still has weaknesses, such as poor finishing, but there is a very good reason why he was played so much compared to Berbatov, last season.

United had a poor/shaky game? I disagree. United did not dominate the game, but they still won 4 - 0. Wigan hardly had dangerous opportunities. The team did a good job keeping them at bay for large portions of the game. The team also attacked well, especially in the second half. And this was done with effectively the B team.

Buttner suddenly becomes the first choice LB for the supporters ONLY because he scored that goal, otherwise the comment will be: "a solid debut, a good substitute for Evra"

hope that helps explaining Welbeck's case wink.gif

I wouldn't mind Buttner getting a run out while giving Evra some time to rest and buck up but I would think SAF might still pick Evra against Liverpool next Sunday for his experience in this type of match.

I do think Buttner is very aggressive in tackling/winning for ball, somehow it was a bit over IMO and always worry will he get another yellow card because of frequent high boot on ball challenging.

I believe most of you guys saw that too.

Anyway, its a good win by the B team, as +Newbie+ said.

I don't really consider Welbeck, Hernandez, Scholes, Giggs, Buttner as the first choice for their position though. For Lindergaard (I hope I spell it correctly), his position has a lot to debate with.

At least I dun see much dynamic from the players in the first half, it was a safe game none the less.

Lindegaard, Buttner, Giggs, Chicharito, Welbeck are all B Team. Even Scholes will not be playing every game. Probably every other game. But I guess Scholes would still be considered first choice, at least until Anderson, Fletcher or Cleverley prove themselves. Maybe even Nani as well.

Hence why ppl call the B team last night.

Anyway excellent 2nd half, I'm very impressed with Hernandez work rate coz I remember somebody here call him as one dimensional player..

Welbeck neither have a poor or a good game. He was at most average. and the decision making is not only about the volley. there's number of times his decision failed him. it was an overstatement to say he had a good game.

The reason people call him one dimensional, is because his lack of technique makes him limited in other roles. His strengths have always been his intelligence. He always picks out space really well and anticipates movement very well. He also always has a willingness to make runs, which either opens up space for himself or for others. This is why I feel he works best as the furthest striker forward and operate in the box all the time. He's like a Pippo Inzaghi, basically. This, of course can be deemed as one dimensional as the player is only able to contribute inside the box. I can see he is trying and has improved his technique, but it still isn't the level of, say, Welbeck (who himself isn't that great but good enough to play other roles and outside the box). Something I think people might not have noticed though, is the fact that he is getting better and better at playing off the last defender and breaking the off side trap.

It's also nice to see him picking up other areas of the game as well, like dropping back, closing down space and defending.

I disagree. A lot of the time, we attacked, Welbeck was involved with the build up. He contributed to the build up very well, wasn't invisible, constantly wanted the ball, helped create many opportunities and got himself into good positions as well. Can't really say it was just an average game. If he was fading in an out, I would agree with you, but from the start until the the end, he was still running all over the place getting involved.

i think the main reason Hernandez's form took a dip last season was precisely because he was balancing between being a pure poacher and participating in the build up plays, and this season we might see him finally soaring again after he got his balance point

plus there's adjustment to do as well after he added some muscle mass to his body (especially his running, speed etc etc)

I wonder. My thoughts are with +Newbie+ as well. Welbeck had a good game for me. Even the commentators were saying that he's doing a good job pulling strings without Rooney, Kagawa, RVP and co on the field.

As for the penalty, he did not do anything such as whine for the penalty. Unlike Young last season, the penalty was given straight by the ref (maybe his angles let him feel that Welbeck got fouled.)

Quote from the site.
QUOTE
Though there was minimal contact and Welbeck made no appeal, referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot, to the visible and understandable enragement of the visitors.

As for the tackles, well, the players got up really fast so I feel that the ref made a good decision. Some of the decisions that he made yesterday was quite good (albeit the soft penalty) - playing advantage, tackles after tackles etc. Players nowadays have too much protection from some of the refs.

I agree. I feel, the reason for his dip last season was SAF trying to make him a more complete player and playing him outside of his comfort zone. I just hope he finds his balance soon. He looked ok, yesterday night.

that wasn't supposed to be a penalty at all, Welbeck dived, end of story, poor decision from him and the ref

(lets just imagine if the one falling was Suarez, then what will be the reaction here?)

Don't you guys notice? For the previous, I'm not really sure but maybe this 2 or 3 past season, the crowd at OT are just been not much supportive.

Remember how last season, in the UCL, the home crowd in OT are underheard by the traveling fans.

Don't you guys notice? For the previous, I'm not really sure but maybe this 2 or 3 past season, the crowd at OT are just been not much supportive.

Remember how last season, in the UCL, the home crowd in OT are underheard by the traveling fans.

It's the price you have to pay when winning trophies.

The best crowd I've ever seen in EPL is Liverpool. As much as I hate them but you have to give them respect. Even losing in big margin they will support the team nevertheless.

Man United vs Wigan Player Ratings

Man Utd

Lindegaard - 7
Despite the 4-0 score line his team's favour, the Manchester United goalkeeper had to be alert - and he was - throughout the game especially with Wigan's Beausejour getting plenty of dangerous crosses into the box. He also capped his performance off with a clean sheet.

Rafael - 5
The more we see Rafael play, the more we wonder whether the Brazil international is good enough to be Gary Neville's replacement at Old Trafford. His poor positioning and his bad habit of diving into tackles was evident once again and he certainly came off second best in his battle against Beausejour.

Ferdinand - 6
The former England captain was almost caught napping by Kone shortly after the second half began but luckily for Ferdinand he reacted quickly enough to gather the ball before the Wigan player could dispossess him.

Vidic (Off 76') - 6.5
With United enjoying so much possession against Wigan, it was up to the United skipper to ensure they stayed focused at the back. For the most part, Vidic did the job and earns himself a slightly better than average rating from us here.

Buttner - 8.5
One man at Old Trafford who perhaps was not smiling after Manchester United's crushing 4-0 win over Wigan might be Patrice Evra. The Frenchman has been United's undisputed first choice left-back for over five years but after Saturday's performance against Wigan, Buttner might have something to say about that.

Buttner was brilliant. Even without his goal, he had an excellent game - linking up with Welbeck and the United attack very effectively and he can certainly be pleased with his efforts on his debut.

Nani - 6.5
Nani came to life in the second half otherwise we might all be talking about another poor display from the Portuguese. There's no doubt he can have a tremendous influence on games from the wing as illustrated by a brilliant 15-minute spell against Wigan in the second half which resulted in three goals for the home team. However, at the same time he is also prone to disappearing from games as shown by his first 45 minutes against the Latics.

Carrick - 6.5
It was a typically unflashy but good game from Carrick in midfield. The England international patiently went about his business trying to help United find the holes in the Wigan defence. His well-weighted cross into the box for Welbeck in the first half to set up the forward for a decent effort on goal sums up the quality he brings to the United midfield.

Scholes (Off 70') - 7.5
Scholes still scores goals... even at age 37. On his 700th appearance for the 19-time English champions, Scholes was the difference again in what was, at that point, a close game. The United veteran tapping home from five yards after Al Habsi had pushed Nani's cross into his path.

Giggs (Off 70') - 7
After a less than noteworthy first half, Giggs responded to Sir Alex's words at half-time in real positive fashion. United came off the blocks after the interval led by a strong midfield display which included Giggs.

Hernandez - 7.5
Like so many of the United players on Saturday, Hernandez overcame a below-par first half to end on a high against Wigan. Having missed a penalty in the opening minutes of the game, the Mexico striker redeemed himself with a goal and an assist in the last half hour of the match.

Welbeck - 8
Welbeck is not the finished the article by any stretch of the imagination, but he led the line for Manchester United against Wigan very impressively it must be said. His finishing wasn't anything to get excited about, but his link-up play in Saturday's 4-0 win over Wigan was worthy of his high score here.

Subs
Van Persie (On 70') - 6.5
A nice little cameo appearance for Van Persie with some good touches and passes to warm him up for United's midweek UEFA Champions League clash against Galatasaray.

Powell (On 70') - 7
Powell looked good on the ball during his debut and his first few touches of the game showed a midfielder who has real confidence in his game. And it's a game which - in case you haven't seen his record at Crewe - includes goals. Powell already off the mark for United after a thunderous shot from outside the area beat the hapless Al Habsi.

Evans (On 77') - N/A
Came on for the skipper Vidic.

Wow. Sorry but that's a terribly written article. I thought Rafael played decently well. Definitely didn't deserve a 5. As for Buttner, he didn't have a good game in my opinion. He's rash into tackles and wasteful going forward. Most of his crosses didn't find anyone. It's his debut so hopefully he'll learn from his mistakes. Yes, he did score a goal but this isn't FM where defenders scoring goals will immediately grant you a 8 and above rating. IMHO, his overall game was poor.

Van der Sar reveals role in Van Persie transfer

Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar has revealed how he convinced former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie about moving to Old Trafford.

Van der Sar says they spoke about two of his former clubs in Juventus and United, both of whom were keen on the player - but United dominated the conversation.

"He called me up and said other clubs were in for him, but because I played for two of them, United and Juventus, he wanted to hear my thoughts about them," he is quoted by the Daily Telegraph.

"So we spoke for five minutes about Juventus and 55 minutes about United.

"He wanted to know how good United were, what he would find there, how the players are, what Ferguson is like, how they train, how the system works.

"He has shown his quality already. I read a statement from Ryan Giggs, saying that United have signed good players and good talent before, but that this one [Van Persie] has everything.

"He has the whole package already, but that doesn't always mean it will work of course. Look at Fernando Torres at Chelsea. His first year was difficult, but I think the signs with Robin are good, though."

*

He wasn't awful. He played well. You know you can still ply well without converting your chances. It's not like he sit on his arse all game long and do nothing. Yes he messed things up now and then, but I don't see anyone else berating Nani or Hernandez for yet another misplaced pass.

Gv chica and rvp starting slots better, welbeck got lots to learn from them. If he continues wasting chance after chance, it'll be costly at the end of the season.

Need to continue run of games to rvp, he's in good form. Shouldn't rotate him while he's fit imo.
*

RVP did get a knock in his last game for the Dutch. And with his injury record, and having Gala and Liverpool next, the Wigan game was the perfect chance to rest him and a few others. Wigan at home is usually easy and despite playing without Kagawa, Evra, RVP(until final 20mins), Rooney and Cleverley, we still put out a very strong team. Our bench have so much firepower for that game its unreal.

that goal was possible only because Welbeck closed down on a Wigan player, took the ball away and started the counter attack, but i am sure people will only say that he's soft, he didn't made a wise decision, thus he was useless in the starting lineup

Alexander Buttner delighted with his debut goal

QUOTE
Alexander Buttner has described the “incredible feeling” of scoring at Old Trafford on Saturday against Wigan Athletic.

Buttner himself said:

“Rene Meulensteen told me on Friday that I would play and must do my thing. Just before the kick off Mr Ferguson told me to enjoy it and that I could do it”

“I entered the field with very heavy legs. The atmosphere was beautiful, but 80,000 people very close to the pitch also gave me some tension. I have never had something like that before.”

“I received the ball from Ryan Giggs and fired at goal. I think it also was a goal if Javier Hernandez didn’t touch it

Buttner on scoring on his debut:

“I got the ball, went past three defenders and fired hard on goal, If it was a mistake by the goalkeeper? That doesn’t matter. Out of nothing 80,000 people were cheering for me. It was an incredible feeling. ”

“After the match Mr Ferguson told me he was proud. I was honoured as man of the match and got a magnum bottle of champagne.”

“Before the match Robin predicted my goal and assist.”

Fabio Da Silva injured with a pulled hamstring

QUOTE
Fabio Da Silva was substituted on Saturday for Queens Park Rangers in their 0-0 draw with Chelsea after just 20 minutes.

Mark Hughes has confirmed that Fabio has indeed pulled his hamstring, he had this to say on the clubs official website:

“Fabio has pulled his hamstring and will be out for a number of weeks, Which is a blow for us.”

Nick Powell vows to stay grounded at Manchester United
QUOTE
Nick Powell has vowed not to get carried away after his debut goal for Manchester United against Wigan Athletic at the weekend.

He has vowed that he will stay grounded and not let the limelight got to his head, speaking with MUTV he said:

“My dad will keep me in touch, I’ll tell you that, When I first came on it scared me a little bit, to be fair, because I’m only used to 5,000 people now and then, but it’s a great atmosphere – the fans are great. It wasn’t the hardest game because they made it easier for me but I’m happy to be on the pitch getting minutes.”

“I learn every day, especially from the midfielders – [Paul] Scholes, [Michael] Carrick, Giggsy [Ryan Giggs] – they’re all great, they’ve all been through it and won trophies. That’s what I want to do, so I hope to learn off them every day.”

forwarded from Redcafe..

QUOTE
Hi Redcafe, I'm a Galatasaray fan who has some insight into Gala for you.

After finishing 8th in the 2010/2011 season coach Fatih Terim took over and had us finish 9 points ahead of Fenerbahce last season, there was a one off play off system between the top 4 but we still won the league after having our points halved and playing 6 more games. This season we've started well beating Fenerbahce in the Super Cup and we sit top of the ladder with 3 wins and 1 draw (the draw being a Besiktas away game).

Expected squad for the United game (4-4-2)

Fernando Muslera
Emmanuel Eboue - Semih Kaya - Cris - Hakan Balta
Emre Colak - Selcuk Inan - Felipe Melo - Nordin Amrabat
Umut Bulut - Burak Yilmaz

Subs:
Ufuk Ceylan - Dany Nounkeu - Yekta Kurtulus - Aydin Yilmaz - Hamit Altintop - Engin Baytar - Johan Elmander

Injured:
Tomas Ujfalusi (Long term injury)

Out of favor:
Milan Baros - Albert Riera

Players to look out for:
Selcuk Inan - Gala's most important player who plays as a deep playmaker.
Nordin Amrabat - Speedy left winger.
Umut Bulut - In form striker who has 7 goals in 5 games this season.
